    I'm heartbroken. R.I.P. Olivia Newton John. I haven't felt this sad since my father passed. Anyone my age or a bit older will understand. Olivia Newton John was one of a kind. Tonight I'll say a prayer for you, and thank god for blessing us all with your lovelyness and unforgettable talent.

      She definitely was every young guy’s dream lady of our age.
      And note how classy she always was. She didn’t exploit sexuality like Madonna did (and still tries to do). And unlike Madonna, ONJ had genuine musical talent.

      I spent several minutes debating whether or not I should leave this message. I've concluded that I must speak the truth. This is a lip synch performance. I wish I could say otherwise, but it's the way it is. This is not a live performance. I sooo want to say otherwise, but it would be a lie.

    Isn't it great to see a female performer not resorting to sexual behaviour to sell a song. Olivia you are the best.

    • @TenacityMatt
      @TenacityMatt 10 років тому +13

      And because she does not resort to that she truly is sexy.

    • @MrDeterioration
      @MrDeterioration 10 років тому +6

      ***** the problem is that many of these "sexual" women are not particularly talented. (The same applies to the male singers.) A little subtlety is a very sexy thing. It's a sign of intelligence as well which makes it all the more appealing. The overtly sexual nature of a lot of these people is just tiresome and pathetic.

    • @Lance37a
      @Lance37a 10 років тому +1

      Well she did use her sex appeal just a few years later. That Physical video had a lot of controversy when it came out.

    • @patrickney6584
      @patrickney6584 9 років тому +2

      +Lance37a "Physical" came out about six years later. At the time I just thought it was sexy, but I do view it differently as an older and wiser man. Harmless fun or something a bit more prurient? Or both?

    • @hermanschwartz2705
      @hermanschwartz2705 9 років тому +1

      +Kevin Gibbs She never needed to behave that way. She had all the subtle appeal she needed. But, then came 'Grease'....and it wasn't so subtle any more. But I'm not complaining!

    This video is a real treasure. ONJ, the real deal, live, no lip-sync, pure vocal live and the way it should be. Listen for the little 'imperfections' which make it authentic and genuine as she works the vocal, the mic, the breath control, there's no hiding behind auto tuning, multi-tracked composite vocals, overdubs, etc.

      I have to agree, though I was born in '81. I have steadily fallen more and more in love with the typical vibe of 70s movies, TV and songs as I've gotten older and - critically - been able to hear more of them on UA-cam. The instrumentals and singing on this song are the epitome of that. Wonderfully mellow and tugs at the heart strings.

Upon receiving the money, she felt compelled to point me out in the audience to thank me. That is something I will never forget and just speaks to the kind of character she possesses to be so gracious!

      @@carolgroff591 Boats....is an Eric Carmen original. Surely one of his classiest composition with typical classical influences in the melody lines. Olivia is great and I'm gonna find my Olivia CDs and play them in tribute of a great artiste! I use the word IS and not WAS since I believe the spirit of her and her music is still very much alive. Timeless, to use THAT word!

    I was on hold for 15mins with my cancellation of my American Express card account and she was playing in the background.. I was singing my ass off, then when they finally picked up, I told them, place me back on hold so i can finish singing-- since I was already pissed while waiting so long-- she mellowed me out big time.. ;)

      Just "pure as snow", or maybe "virgin snow", if you need an adjective. "Pure as the driven snow" is an ironic expression, as "driven snow" is actually not pure at all.

    Kids today need to see this. She actually sang this. No auto-tune, no background vocals. She doesn't need a dozen backup dancers, and she keeps her clothes on. And everyone is memorized by her beauty.......Don't believe me? ask any male over the age of 20...............That is talent. Not like the artists of today.

    Some of the most gloriously soaring and sonorous high notes ever hit in any performance full of bittersweet tenderness and emotional resonance that simultaneously stings and soothes the heart strings with a dreamy transcendent beauty that seems unearthly, like a lovely song bird taking flight so high it leaves our sight with a sigh that makes us cry, as the glimpse of ideal beauty disappears into the distance.
