What does Crown of the Old Iron King and Dark Souls 2 Crown of the Sunken King and Crown of the Ivory King and Dark Souls 3 Ashes of Ariandel and Ringed City and Dark Souls Artorias of the Abyss and Bloodborne Old Hunters DLC all have in common? Well Sekiiro never had what they have, a proper dlc! The fromsoftware way is taking the traditional dlc formula and elevating it to another plane. Typically we are presented with another world, sometimes even a new story, but Fromsoft seem to end their own tales while delivering the most iconic bosses in the dlc. Some bosses that come to mind are Artorias the abyss walker, Manus, Kalameet, The Fume Knight, Sir Alonne, Ludwig, Lady Maria, Orphan of Kos, Laurence, Sister Freide, Slave Knight Gael, Midir, and more! With all of these bosses and dlc's it's no wonder that Miyazaki is one of the most influential people of the year and Fromsoft one of the best studios in gaming!

Hey everyone, very happy with how this one turned out! Next video will focus on Nameless King and his story with the souls community
Had to make a new account cos the whole Destiny community knows how much of a clickbaiting time waster you are
I'm not sure if Gwyn would appreciate you talking about his son, bringing attention to his existence and all that.
The old hunters was incredible, bloodborne was already good by itself but the bosses weren’t super memorable. Then we got 4 of the most iconic in the DLC, elevating bloodborne
Bloodborne's music was more memorable than its bosses
@@jackreacher7495 The bosses weren't properly hyped prior to encountering them. Probably due to a lack of an intro movie
@@cyrusr2209 A lot of them just lack character/a place in the lore, which the hunter bosses are saved from
I enjoyed Gascoigne, Blood Starved Beast, Amelia, Shadows, Rom, Logarius, Amygdala, Ebrietas, Wetnurse and Gehrman as much as Ludwig, Maria and Orphan. Only bosses I truly thought needed to be improved were Darkbeast Paarl, Witches, The One Reborn and Micolash. Cleric, Celestial, Failures, Moon were fine but fuck Laurence, I mean fuck that motherfucker right in his taint. I like the spectacle and music but fuck him.
@@jackreacher7495 nope you're just mentally handicapped

Ringed City 🥵
it's so good
Old Hunters 🥵
Artorias of the Abyss 🥵

Old Iron King 🥵
For characters that could be featured, the Godwin and Miquella seem quite plausible but two I think could also appear are the Gloam Eyed Queen and the God Placidusax was Elden Lord to.
Dude Placidusaxx in his prime would be an amazing fight!!
@@GodWarsX a really cool spectacle for sure but I imagine he’d be hard as hell to fight. He’d probably end up a Midir level damage sponge
Idk if it’s been said in the lore, but I would love to fight the dude that cut off one of his 3 heads
@@platoniclogic5877 That’s Godfrey
@@platoniclogic5877 you already fought him. Also he had 5 heads, not 3.
Dark Souls 1's DLC is actually the key event that eventually leads into Dark Souls 2 with the Children of Manus. The main antagonist of Dark Souls 2 is Nashandra, a fragment of Manus, who takes on a form similar to Dusk and seduces King Vendrick after having him return to Lordran (the land of the Giants in ds2) to acquire their "power" (which is commonly accepted to be the First Flame itself, or since it is the Throne of Want, a part of the Kiln of the First Flame). I strongly suspected that Nashandra allowed the player to enter a portal going back in time during the events of the game in order to use him since she can not attain the power to ascend the throne herself due to the many restrictions Vendrick had in place.
The Dark Souls 2 DLC feature ancient Kingdoms nearing Drangleic, who all had influence from a Child of Manus, and each have their own purpose in explaining how each Kingdom came to ruin.
We don't know exactly what the power of the giants was and it's implied that Drangleic is built on top of old civilizations from ages past. You can even find the broken Lord Vessel in the basement under the mansion in Majula.
My best guess is that the power of the giants was the magic that Vendrick used to create the Golems. There are a bunch of them just outside of the Throne of Want and generally all over Drangleic Castle, plus that one soldier dude in the giant's memory makes reference to them iirc.
Still sad we never got a Sekiro DLC😢
15:10 also keep in mind that they called it an "expansion" so it should be bigger than a regular dlc
It could be even bigger than the main game 😮
@@TheRealUncannyValley no?
@@henrryeaeaea probably not.
I've been saying this since like May last year. Considering the clear indications of Miquella, and the likelihood that we see the Helphen--the field of wheat (and potentially Godwyn emerging from the roots of the Great Tree to overtake the Erdtree), I suspect it means we will get a whole new region at the center of the map. The "Shadow of the Erdtree" may be a result of the Eclipse casting a shadow over the area between the Divine Towers, summoning the Helphen into the physical world and allowing us to explore it.
Imagine going to the cliffs on the edge of each region and seeing the DLC region there permanently after unlocking it for that cycle... I hope the DLC update will also add the unique tree/sky appearance for whichever ending you select. Fractured would remain the same as the early/mid game tree, Order will have a more vibrant gold color and the skies will be gold even from Limgrave, and so on... Frenzied has the tree just gone and the skies engulfed with frenzied clouds, and Age of the Stars could just show the dead tree with the Dark Moon looming overhead.
@Ramsés Franco I'm gay
One idea for a dlc I see come up a lot is “post ending dlcs”, basically a dlc that takes place in the world of Ranni’s order or the Frenzied Flame. I have to constantly remind people that FromSoft just doesn’t do dlcs that way, they usually always explore another facet of the lore that never got fleshed out instead of lore that has plenty of material. Additionally dlcs have to be content you can play while in a playthrough, it’s not something that has ever required that you beat the entire game first in order to access it.
It's the same thing with people thinking that the DLC will answer every single, specific question that they have. Yeah, you MIGHT get some answers from the DLC. But you will almost certainly roll credits with more, and different questions than you came in with. Which is one thing that makes them so great haha.
That would make an ending canon, and they never did that and will probably (and hopefully) never do it
@@robertspeedwagon982 they did it with the dark souls games though, the second and third game would be complete darkness if the bad ds1 ending would have been canon.
@@thephoenix4093 As explained by Aldia in DS2, refusing to link the fire only means that your character didn't linked the flame, but what stops another undead to do it ? Nothing. That's why your choice doesn't matter (according to Aldia), if you don't link it, someone else will.
DS3, the only one without a sequel was the only one where another choice was possible, you could link the flame, don't link the flame (same as DS1 and 2) but you could also take the flame for yourself, extinguish it or use it to bring about an age of Hollows.
For Elden Ring however, your actions have consequences, whatever the ending you chose, as every one of them brings about a new Age and alter the Elden Ring (there is no "do nothing" ending like in Dark Souls).
@@robertspeedwagon982 wouldn't that make the endings in the first souls games futile if it would end the same way though?
I wish they'd give sekiro a DLC
bloodborne was my intro to souls and when I beat it, I thought I was amazing. Then came the dlc and orphan kos I don't know how many tries that thing took lol, but it was amazing.
I'm thinking about Shadow of the Erdtree, you probably guys know how Empyreans have their shadow beasts to act basically as bodyguards and also keep them in line should they ever try to break free from the Greater Will. So my thoughts are .. What IF the Erdtree itself has also a Shadow Beast, or an entity to protect it. I mean with you now in the throne things are changing, what if there is retaliation. I mean the title has the name Shadow and Fromsoft always hide something in the titles if their DLCs.
Gael is to this day, the greatest boss I've ever seen...From the incredible design, with breathtaking combos, epic ost - but most importantly the emotional lore we learn from DS3 and Ashes of Ariandel.
Ringed City is incredible and Gael's fight at the end of the world is the perfect ending to the Dark Souls trilogy!
I feel like the most important thing to understand why From's DLCs are best in the byss? Is that i can't imagine playing the games without them...They are so important to the base game and enhance not only the gameplay experience, but also the world and characters.
The clip from Tyrannicon... it's been a while since I've heard that rage-filled bellowing 😂
I think it would be absolutely stellar if Melania and Miquella ended up as interactable characters as opposed to bosses in the DLC in a fight against some deathbound corrupted Godwyn, could be interesting.
Totally agree on Bloodborne. The DLC has amazing bosses and completes the lore. Thanks for the video! Subbed.
Ashes of Ariandel is the best DLC bar none thanks to the zoom in on Friede's feet 👀
Ight I really gotta finish up ds3 now
FromSoft is the only developer who could shadow drop DLC and people would actually be even more satisfied with it.
Imagine your next playthrough of Elden Ring and after beating Mohg there's a prompt in front of Miquellas cocoon. Or you beat Placidusax only you're *stuck* back in the past and Farum Azula is fully in-tact with new, ancient enemies. I could go on but the point is it would totally fit their MO
The rematch against Dragonslayer Armor was fantastic. And then we got to fucking wear it!
Soldier of Godrick is my favorite boss in all of FromSoft, next to Mist Noble. Can't wait for the Soldier's deep dive on your channel!
Elden ring is my first FS game . looking forward to the dlc .
My current top dlc's are both of the witcher 3 dlc's .
Blood & Vines had such a satisfying ending!! After hundreds of hours I've finally felt like I've found a place for Gerald to rest.
You made a mistake. It's not a rumor that the Painted World of Ariamis is the prototype zone for the game, it's a fact that stems from a direct statement by Miyazaki in one of his interviews. What changed is the enemy layout. Fun fact: Nito was the prototype boss with a variety of moves to test.
3 main big bosses of the elden ring dlc will definitely be miquella, godwyn, and the gloam eyed queen. Really the only 3 Demi gods we don’t actually interact with.
Isn't Melina the gloam eyed queen?
@@beewyka819But I'm pretty sure she is just a vessel.
The ashes of ariendel to me is symbolic of Miyazakis creative vision with the souls games. They want him to continue making dark souls, but he wants to let it die and true new projects.
That sif Easter egg dlc Is a work out art. The sif and artorias story is amazing
one of your best videos! Really good job, Evan! :)
Love how your subscribed to Vaati, and for Dark Souls 4 would only happen if they want to make it
Tanks for the work you’ve made 🙏
The Old Hunters might be just my favorite piece of... media really in any format... i think about that 5 hr peice of content way more than i probably should
The Painted Eorld of Ariandel IS the same world as the Painted World of Ariamis... Father Ariandel is a restorer that used blood to fix the broken painting of Ariamis, that is why there are so many similiarities
Man I love the lore implications of

Sekiro, despite not getting a proper DLC, got an update which has its' best bosses moveset-wise (Inner Father, Inner Isshin, and Inner Genichiro). Such a shame that we never got a full DLC in which we fought Tomoe and Kingfisher and got new prosthetics.
This man playing apotos day theme from sonic unleashed. Banger
An apostrophe is used to denote possession or a contraction, never to pluralize. The plural of DLC is DLCs.
Evan Elden Ring dlc would be a MASTERPIECE
I wonder if it will be a larger "expansion" instead of a DLC as FS used that term in their Tweet.
Get this man to 50k I need to know the soldiers background, what led him to the tutorial cave, and his lore
Hello what is the name of the song in the outro ? It is not in the description.
Even better with dks3 dlc is that ringed city connects back to ashes with the painter girl
sekiro tomoe dlc :(
it's not happening :(
@@EvanExplains One can hope.
I mean we could've gotten:
Kingfisher & Orangutang (Sculptor) Duo, and they have a shared healthbar, at the end, Orangutang gets a major buff like O&S, and gains Shura-like aspects since you kill Kingfisher and that would be cool
Tomoe (Duh)
The Interior Ministers
General Tamura (from the intro)
Prime Lady Butterfly
The Other Seven Spears
The Headless before they became Headless (Gokan, Ako, etc)
Wolf as a Demon of Hatred
Wolf as an actual boss (Maybe Shura Wolf, or a regular one)
Lord Takeru
Completely off topic, but is that Sonic Unlesshed music I hear in the intro segment? :p
First thing I wanna point out is that there's two serpents, and it is never said which one pushed the habitants of Oolacile to wake Manus. Second thing is what I just said. Kaathe/Frampt didn't turn Manus into the Father of the Abyss, he already was. He was just roused from sleep by the unsuspecting townsfolk. That's all I wanted to clarify.
Chester mentioned that the townfolks believed what Kaathe said, meaning he's indirectly involved in the whole destruction of Oolacile.
@@ukaznipsigururuk8685 But Manus was already vibing and lurking. Kaathe may have influenced the townspeople, but Manus was probably going to awaken anyway.
@@RealTillBill Manus was vibing but he was also sealed away, untouched by anyone. The equivalent would be the Old One from Demon's Souls. The world wouldn't be shrouded by colorless fog if the Monumentals and king Allant didn't seek the Soul Arts.
@@ukaznipsigururuk8685 Ohhhhhh. So he would have vibed for eternity if Kaathe hadn't given them the idea to go find him?

Like many FS noobs I was drawn in by Elden Ring & absolutely loved it. Wish I got into these games earlier (I know they’re all available to play but I need latest gen quality). Am very much looking forward to the new DLC. Hope it comes soon!
Im still very sad Sekiro didnt get a dlc😪
The intro was me when I finally beat Dragonlord Placidusax
And when I did another new game+ I beat him on my first try… I was like “…oh”
Leyndell doesn't exist in the dlc as seen by the absence of the castle and city in the dlc teaser.
If FromSoft has the most "realized" DLC, then what in God's holy name can we expect from the Elden Ring DLC 😳🤯
this is cool :)
Good video except where when talking about Ludwig you were showing Laurence footage..
I believe the other tree which is the shadow of the erdtree will be in the underworld, the Helphen, there we will meet Miquella since he is in a slumber. we see his souls form which is still in child form. We will help Miquella to make his brother Godwyn die a true death.
I can see it being the Helphen because of how the landscape is with all the spirit graves, and well the fact that the map itself looks structurally completely different. But we are also extremely far away from the tree compared to where we would be in the Lands Between. Even from the mountaintops or weeping peninsula any signs of the Erdtree we get is wayyyy bigger than the perspective here.
Oh the pygymy, I had almost forgotten
surprised to hear sonic unleashed soundtrack in Elden Ring
yo i need that song rn 1:36
TTK, Rise Of Iron, & WQ >>
Took me like 5 mins in to realize this was Evan. I was like, this voice is familiar… and then I actually read the channel name xD
I feel it's almost certain to be a prequel, maybe not a direct prequel because fromsoft never goes that simple, but a prequel nonetheless.
I need Sekiro dlc
How dare you show Laurence when talking about ludwig. But anyways great video 👍
Fishing Hamlet 🥵
I feel like doom eternal is the only other game that (sort of) did the same with its DLC, yeah the final boss is underwhelming af but i like the idea that after a challenging like elden dark souls or doom that the DLC focuses on the hardcore playerbase. They always have to 1up the main game in difficulty and what i LOVE about fromsoft dlc’s is that they always sort of tie in the loose ends in the story too. Leading to a super satisfying experience
Gael is the best boss fight in souls history. Midir and Friede being a close second and third.
There are seven mausoleums, five with bells, and bell mausoleums are dedicated to five dead demigods.
Would be interesting if we fight the dead demigods slain by Black Knife/Ranni conspiracy, and somehow unbind and free them. It would give us 5 major bosses, fifth and final one being Godwyn. (Mausoleum in Deeproot Depths).
We might even know few of the names belonging to slain demigods. Churches are named after religious figures, like many churches for Marika.
But there is also churches dedicated to Irith and Elleh. It would make most sense these were demigods killed and rendered soulless by Black Knife assassins.
Other than godwynn who else was killed? I cant find anything from google
@@ScubaLemur we don’t know
@@ScubaLemur We just know that many of Marika’s kin were targeted, and Godwyn was just the 1st to die.
Bruh, did you just neglect to mention ma'boy the Sanctuary Guardian among the dlc bosses? I guess it doesnt have all the story impact of the other 3 but its a damn fine boss, great visual design, spacious arena the boss actually utilizes both in movement and with the lightning attacks that get conducted somewhat by the water, varied and well telegraphed moveset and you get the double guardians as a secret fight if you come back, thats defenitly top tier material imo
He knew you would post this
I love that you load in to the dlc for the first time and immediately fight a boss. Always had a soft spot for the Sanctuary Guardian even though he could use a little more HP.
Sanctuary Guardian is an okay boss. It was very forgettable compared to the other three in my opinion.
I'm just hoping that we actually have trophies Achievements. with the DLC? cause some of these boss fights. I don't think I have the stomach for it. Unless there's Achievements. or trophies for it. I already have the platinum for Elden ring.
Gosh please Check the volume of the clips you put in there. Some guys just yell crazy loud
Artorias❤️
I think the game that did DLC best was Fallout NV. Each DLC is tied to each other except maybe Honest Hearts and each tie back into the base game by giving more lore and letting us get to know characters only mentioned like Elijah and Ulysses.
I don't want better elden ring I want more :>
I played all the DLCs of Bloodborne and dark souls and fr it's smmm better
Love cd projekt red dlc like TW3 and cyberpunk but fromsoft dlc is unmatch
Knowing FROM....it will probably be bigger than the base game.

@@EvanExplains true you mentioned the sword, my b
I still dont understand the '"we need more of Miquella" thing about the DLC. A quarter of the game is about him, there's no reason to make a DLC centered around him, especially how (except for Bloodborne) they only expanded on "little" details of the story, or even something completly different/unrelated to the main story (Ringed City/Ashes of Ariandel).
Old Hunters best dlc
Amazing video! Just to nitpick, wasn't sif female?
I wouldn't go as far as to say the best dlc's out there
Thats up to you tho which is fine. For me it definetly is with DS3 and Bloodborne for singleplayer games since I like the way they add new perspectives on top of how I already understood the world of the game.

Bloodborne dlc 😩
Ohh, So THAT'S what bloodborne was really about. Heh, had no idea so thanks.
You put dark souls 2 in the thumbnail but gave it 10 seconds of screentime...
I’m not saying this isn’t a video that shouldn’t have been made, but tldr, fromsoft just isn’t a scumbag company
Elden ring is my first fs game too, can't say that I'm a fan of their "storytelling ". Hope the dlc answers more questions than just throwing us in a new land and some new bosses at us.
Well then i don’t think you’ll like fromsoft games lmfao. They don’t hold your hand and spoon feed you the story, you have to do side quests, read item descriptions, go to hidden areas, take a closer look at the common mob, etc.
Fromsoft shares this ideology throughout most of its titles.
Rip don't expect the dlc to be a "book of answers" sort of thing. They'll answer 5 questions but also give 5 more questions, it's just how it is
Please, even if you do all that, you'd only get more questions. I get that it's good for content creators but it's just speculations and fan theories unit you get some sort of confirmation from FS.
I don't even know what my character motivation is. Why does he want to become Elden Lord? What do all the endings mean? Is Marika dead?⁰
Do they even change anything? There is still rot, Godwin is still spreading his roots of death.
I've spent countless hours listening to lore videos, some of them even criticise how poor the storytelling is compared to other souls games so that has to mean something.
As a first FS game, it was very challenging and beating it left me feeling empty. What was all for?
Still better than deafet Miquella in his new legacy dungeon and get his rune.
I'd be nice to meet more memorable npc, voice acting is so good it's such a shame that you barely get to talk to ppl.
@@5anctuary first of all, the player character is a tarnished brought back to the lands between to be guided by grace. But the motivation is unclear because its meant to be your character. love you
You downplayed Bloodborne's DLC hard. It is by FAR the best of all the DLC's released thus far. The story ties perfectly in with the main game, the bosses are best in the game and the weapons introduced are high quality and well needed.

I feel like you completely contradicted your own points with dark souls 3, you didn't say anything about it enriching the main story of ds3, it's an epilogue set in a different world, basically what you said in the beginning was mediocre dlc

“making the best dlcs out there” holy shit thanks for the laugh, i needed that today. idk if you’re on the spectrum, a masochist or what, but fromsoft has yet to make a single dlc that was enjoyable. never has there been a dlc that was better than just the base game itself. i’ve never hit “don’t recommend channel” faster in my life

I’ll never understand why people think making people to go on a scavenger hunt to understand a story is “good” story telling. I enjoy watching video’s to understand the story to the games, but the “story telling” of these games in general is pretty garbage.
It’s not good or bad, it’s just preference
@@EvanExplains Preferences often deal in terms of good and bad. If you like it, you describe it as good, if you don't you describe it as bad. Obviously it depends on the person if they like something or not. But I'd still say it resides in the framework of good and bad. Especially if you're comparing it to other things in the same or similar category. I'm not trying to attack anyone for liking it, just basically saying I don't get the hype🤷🏿♂️
Because speculation and piecing things together can be fun. With games like horizon zero dawn or ghost of Tsushima (I Menton them just because they are thelast two I played) you finish them and that's it, every part of the story has been told to you and you can't really wonder about anything.
That's just a matter of preferences, I for example rarely enjoy other games storytelling
@@alexboninsegna8050 I get that, but the point of storytelling is that someone understands your story after you've told it. It'd be one thing if we categorized it as a mystery. Cause I'm mysteries, you have to search for clues and figure things out on your own. But if we're going to call it "storytelling" it doesn't achieve that objective. I like to speculate and watch speculation videos too, but to have to do that or search for hours for random items to understand a story is not storytelling. I enjoy these game but having a story but telling your audience to figure it out is lazy and cheap at the end of the day. All games have lore and story written somewhere, FromSoft isn't special in that. It's just other games party for voice actors to speak instead of putting it on a item description. The way FromSoft does their games although I enjoy them aren't very Immersive in my opinion. I never feel like my character is apart of the world. I feel like my character just got dropped in it and now has to deal with it
@@indeedgaminghere401 yeah again it's just a matter of preferences. I love to speculate and come out with new theories.
I'd also like one day to see a fromsoft game with more "alive" npcs (like forbidden west cutscenes or Gow Ragnarok which are top tier) but I wouldn't take away the core aspect of reading descriptions and looking at the environment to understand the story.
You can't say "it's not storytelling", it's a different method to tell a story, a more "archeological" way to understand the world you're in. Some can like it and others don't.
Who cares. Elden Ring is garbage and i'm glad i've never played this trash at all. Anything from Fromsoftware is a SKIP and a waste of time.
