- What is the difference between Upwork fixed price vs hourly contracts? Which one should you choose and how does it work? In this video, I'll teach you about the difference between fixed-price projects and hourly rate projects on Upwork and which one is the best for your freelancing work.
I'll teach you about how to get paid with an hourly rate project, how the work diary works, how to install the Upwork desktop app, and more. I'll also teach you about fixed-price contracts and discuss Upwork milestones and how they work, and how to get paid via escrow with a fixed price contract.

wowwww.....How Perfectly you define each and everythings...kudos
Thank you for this useful tutorial :-)
Awesome video, really helpful
Thank you so much for the tutorial
Thanks Jennifer for your effort! I'm glad there are still people like you wanting to benefit people :). I just wanted to ask a question on transcription, if I may. If there's a single speaker in the audio clip who makes a hypothetical dialogue between two hypothetical persons, should we count that as a change of speaker, or should we cram quotes after each other on the same line since it's still the same speaker talking? It's in TranscribeMe! Thanks so much in advance!
first timer here. i believe i will do well jus as you are on
Nicely said 🙂
I've been on upwork for 6 months and still have nothing... I'll check out all your videos!

Hi loved the video would you like to review some profiles on upwork in a video? I think it makes a good video
Thank you for educating us..♥️
Waw great job
Thanks, Jennifer for this helpful information.
Jenni, How much time does it take you to make a video of yours? I mean the videos you post here on this channel.
Hi Jenny, Thank you for your insights. I have been trying to get a job through UW yet no success. I have been buying connects 2-3X. In stat I see only one profile views per week eventhough I regularly apply for jobs. Do you have any recommendations how could I secure potential jobs. I have a 100% completed profile.
Thank you for the information.
Please how much is ideal to charge for 1 hour audio transcription job?
Very Helpful. Although I'm an established VO, I've only recently entered the UpWork platform. How to approach the Hourly Rate jobs has been a source of frustration for me. It seems to me that there are a disproportionate amount of jobs that are Hourly, and I've been simply avoiding them so far. This gives me a useful approach. Thanks!
You're welcome! Most clients don't mind either way, so you can always propose your preference to them. :)
@@JenniferMarieVO Do you find it a useful strategy to spend the connects to appear at the top (or close to it) when the buyer looks at their submitted proposals? So far, I've basically re-invested every dollar I've made into trying to land more jobs....trying to build up reviews so that I get more invites...... How long did it take for you to build up to a worthwhile place on UpWork? Thanks....
I love you ❤️
Can you share some informations about equipments especially laptop/
Hi, I accepted an invitation from a client and submitted a proposal for hourly payments. Now I see where an offer sent to me saying "there is a $5 minimum amount to get the contract going and invite you" what does this mean when I already proposed an hourly contract 🤔
Hi Jennifer. I want to teach you how to pass the happyscribe test.
For hourly jobs, who decide hourly rate, freelancer or client?
Plzz give me solution how upwork rank the purposal..
does it mean we get paid after one week even if the job is not finished ?, let say i work 20 hours per week and finish in 1 month, even i havent done in 1 month but i got paid in weeks 2 ?
Thank you for the great video! I am confused about the milestone thing though. If your client releases the funds for the milestone, will the money become available for you to cash out for that milestone? Or do you need wait until you're done with the entire project to get paid at all? I just did this, submitted a milestone. They approved it and now it says I have a money under “Milestone Paid’ but under the “Get Paid” section, it says I have zero balance. I only know how it works with hourly. It typically takes about a week and a half for the money to available for withdrawal. Is this what will happen here with this milestone? Or is this going to be held until the entire project is over and all the money for the project will just be available then? I really don’t want to have to wait. That could take forever. Thanks!
Once the payment is released, you will get it.
Ok I Love you Marie
I have a question and I can't seem to find the answer anywhere. What if you work less than 1 hour and you're charging an hourly rate? Do you just charge a base price (i.e. I charge $40 per hour, so whether I work 15 min or 1 hour, I make that rate?) I'm a voice actor, so generally it doesn't take a full hour to record content, unless it is especially long. Thanks!
Hello! So if you are tracking your hours with the app, and it takes you 30 minutes to do the voice over, then you'll get paid $20 (minus Upwork fees) if your hourly rate was set at $40. If clients needed revisions, you'd start tracking again and get paid again for however many minutes you worked. Personally, I prefer to set a fixed rate with a client instead of hourly.
@@JenniferMarieVO Hi there ! can you please help me answer my question. am a video editor so my question is before sending the finish project to the file we usually do a quick revision for ourselves. So do we do that revision online or offline if we are working on a hourly rate.
hello how can I set up a fixed price account
Hello, just set up a normal account and set your hourly rate anyways. There is no difference in account types, only in job types. You can apply to fixed-rate jobs with your regular account
ok thank you for your help I am a newcomer to freelancing your videos helped me so much
U didnt reply my question?
I didn't see your question anywhere.
There is no contest in upwork
I never said contest. I said contract :)
@@JenniferMarieVO i know im telling you there is no contest like freelancer
What kind of people would put themselves through such torture to work $5 per hour? I mean, Jesus Christ.
Obviously everyone would want to do hourly and there are ways and means to fool the system in thinking you working on it but you not or just work very slow.
I never pay them for hourly.
If the job is $500 for example and it's a 5 hour job for the typical person and a highly skilled person does it in 1 hour than that is because they are better.
I'll let the person quote for my job and if I think it's worth it I'll do contract and provide them with more than enough time to complete. They might not have time at the moment to do the job or have personal commitments to sort out but that is understandable as long as the job gets done by due date.
Some people work fast and some slow.
Hourly rate is a con to work slower to make more money
Actually, as a freelancer, I MUCH prefer fixed-rate jobs for the same reason you just posted. It takes a highly-skilled person less time to complete a job than an amateur, so I prefer to set a fixed rate for a project because I may be able to do it in less than an hour.
