  • I picked up this amazing piece of Mappa Burl (which someone asked me if I was saying "maple" with a Texas accent) from Hamilton Lee Supply in Magnolia, TX. These are a great group of craftsman and an awesome company to support. Check out the link below and use code "lonestar" for 5% off all purchases.

    Hey, greetings from Southern Indiana! I will be honest this is my very first comment EVER on YT. I like watching anything on YT about making but especially woodworking. I've been getting into a lot of "new" youtubers who are starting out. I see a lot of potential in you after this build (I have been subscribed for a few months now). I knew you had the skill and NOW you ensured we all knew you had the skill, as that table was top notch. I hope this video helps build your confidence in yourself man! Best of luck with your channel and I hope the new addition to the family is treating you well!!

      I try to find burl any chance I get! Unfortunately given that it’s a rare blemish on trees they have the price to match most times. I’d love to see some pictures of that red gum!

      @Lone Star Woodworking I'm about 3/4 done on the burl table which will have a video to follow on completion. I've posted a sneak peak picture of it on Facebook and insta. Like you I'm working from home with a youtube channel that is building momentum and regular work coming through the door. Like you, this is my focus with a dream to do it full time. Here's a pretty cool table I made not long ago. Check it out if you have time. ua-cam.com/video/XeC-PRgX7RE/v-deo.html

    • @lonestarwoodworking3810
      @lonestarwoodworking3810  Рік тому

      @@GAsh0012 I think your observation really only applies to when I work specifically on the epoxy (prep, pour, sanding, finishing) because it’s a different medium and therefore requires different technique to work on effectively. However, the required knowledge to work on live edge slabs is just as substantial and significant as the guy that builds hardwood furniture with panel glue ups and complicated joinery. Now I do appreciate your observation that a good bit of my videos are similar because it means you took the time to watch multiple, and I’m working on that. But what it boils down to is: I still have to have all the knowledge of any “normal” woodworker. And for the most part, all of the skills. I just choose to apply them differently

      @@lonestarwoodworking3810 if you have all the skills a regular wood worker does I'd challenge you to build a dresser or something. If anything, river tables are played out...

    • @417goose
      @417goose Рік тому

      @@GAsh0012When building a dresser do you add metal handles, hinges, drawer slides? How about using plywood I hope you don't use it, it is wood created with glue, which is similar to epoxy. I assume you see my point. Personally, I have never built a river table, but always like to see them being built. Unless you are completely pure and never use anything other than wood then don't throw stones.
