Changing your appearance takes time and thought. I love the respect Dan shows for his client in discussing his options. In the end, everyone must decide for themselves what they do with their hair. We don't see caring and respect for others in many places on social media. This is one of those rare places.

In a day and age of being out of touch with eachother… what a blessing it is once again to be apart of eachother lives. So glad I took the risk at 30 to begin my new dream I always had. Dan you’re the man…. Thank you for giving us your time and a true look into the mind of a master as well as an artist. Thanks again…-Devin

What most people don't realize is that this level of hair loss in your 20s is legitimately an actual TRAUMA for most men. It's literally traumatizing to one day find it having gotten to this level.
What Sam has done here takes so much bravery to talk about in front of a camera. Thankfully for him, he's a super good looking guy especially with his eyes and bone structure. Transplant, finasteride, and topicals are all options, yes, but he'd be arguably just as good looking (maybe even better looking) with a shaved head and stubble Jason Statham-style.
For now, Dan did a great job (as always) with what he could, and Sam looks fine enough. But without treatment, I'd recommend getting himself ready to buzz it and grow that stubble. I know it takes a lot -- but again, he has a lot of good going for him (being very good looking in other departments).

My advice is that this nice looking man should embrace it and simply cut it off , or even shave it on top. I think he would find freedom in doing so. Take 5 or so guys who are suffering with hair loss and invite then to try minoxidil (and maybe finasteride) over a period of 1-2 years, and see them every 3 months for a haircut and chat to see what results it is having. I think this would be a real winner with your expertise and personality. You could call it Talking Hair Loss Reversal. Cheers

but then the con would be revealed and manual would lose custom...
'success' on these medications has been defined statistically as losing less hair than the control group taking placebo in clinical trials.
in other words even while on the drugs you can continue to lose hair and pharma can claim that they are effective simultaneously, as statistically (based on their trials) you would have lost more hair without them.
but unless you have an identical twin or genetic clone there is no way to know the difference in your hair vs not taking it.
a small % of users are 'hyper responders' and do see great results initially and for some years, but effectiveness of these medications decreases over time and then hair loss continues. for the vast majority of users there are no 'magic results'. their hair loss continues at a 'slower pace', how much slower being impossible to prove on an individual basis.
how the drugs are marketed also misleads people. the drugs do not regrow hair. minoxidil will extend growth phase of hairs increasing hair count and length. finasteride will reduce DHT levels by 70%, reducing the rate of further hairloss. if you are expecting a full head of hair again then u will feel underwhelmed with the average results.
and thats not even going down the side effect rabbit hole...
TLDR: u cant permanently reverse hair loss with current meds available

Dan did exactly what he should have done. Sam is NOT ready to cut it off. If Dan had pushed HIS agenda and cut it off, Sam would have faked being happy for the camera, but would have left looking for a hat to wear for the next year. With Dan's years of experience and compassion, he knew this. Dan showing Sam how to use the fibers was the best thing for Sam. They will give him more time while he tries other avenues. I only wish Dan had put a little of the fiber on the very front of Sam's hair. I think it would have gone a long way to make it look even more full. Sam asked about putting the fibers on the very front earlier in the consult so I think he will most likely experiment with it when he gets home. Sam you are a very handsome guy with a wonderful smile. I hope the best for you. My husband is 60 and has thinning hair. He can't use the medicines because of heart issues and the topical stuff is toxic to animals. He HATES that he is losing his hair, which was always wonderful, so I can imagine how hard it is for a young guy. It does look better, but I think that's down to the fibers. Just wondering if he was a better candidate for a 'save or shave' video. He is still young, so I can understand the 'save what you got' route. I'm in a similar position, only my thinning starts from my crown and has come forward, and I'm in my 40's. Not far away from shaving it off as I don't want to go the medical route, and I don't think there is a style that will save what I have left.

Hopefully he can afford some proper treatment OR get the relief from accepting his permanent hair loss? Shave the top and keep the sides short to match.

It’s clear that he really wants a good head of hair back again, seeing as he’s still luckily got his crown he’s left it to a good age where he’s stretched it out enough to get a transplant regarding his age.. he should hop on some medication consistently for 8-12 month, see how well he responds and if it picks up significantly he should go for a transplant, im not a hair transplanter but you can see his partings are quite high on his head so it wouldn’t need a massive donor transplant. 3-4k graphs prob

He would look great bald. My husband lost most of his hair at the age of 23 on top. He wore a hat then all the time. Well like 10 years later his mom got cancer and was losing her hair and they both shaved their heads together. He did it to help make her feel better and it looked great now 30 years later still doing it and I love it. He wears a goatee and he looks wonderful. I think this guy should do the same thing has a nice shaped head.

My son hates his hair and used to wear a sports cap but he shaved his hair off years ago and grew a decent beard and it looks awesome. The beard takes focus away from his hair and tbh his hair actually suits the beard - if that makes sense. He doesn’t wear a cap anymore except on hot days and his hair being shaved to a one blade gives him colour without noticing too much his receding hairline. The worst thing to do is try to disguise hair loss because it always shows. This young man should grow a beard.

Mix a tablespoon of castor and rosemary oils together, massage gently on scalp with fingertips, put the leftover through hair, wash with sulphate free shampoo and within 3 months you'll notice a huge difference, both in texture and growth of hair. Add biotin supplements. Forgot all those big pharma products, limited success and only work if at all with continuous use, the minute you stop, back to square one.
