It is crazy to think that from all the videos made, Season One was able to be condensed to under two hours. Well done on compiling all the videos together so we can see everything from start to finish.
You took a game full of lore and brought us damn near a 2-hour documentary. I truly look forward to these videos and discussions. You truly have outdone yourself Harry!
Outlast is such an interesting series. I love how it presents an interesting theme of corruption and manipulation in a completely realistic way while still managing to be completely unrealistic in terms of gameplay and experiments. Blending fact with fiction creates this narrative of commentary and I absolutely adore Redbarrels for it. It truly calls out the USA for its actions during the Cold War, religion for its manipulative malpractice, and companies for their ever-expanding megalomania. The way the trials captures such ideas as The Red Scare, racism, and police brutality (Leland Coyle). Abuse, cults, and real life atrocities (Phyllis Futterman). The way it presents ideas of moral perversion and government morality (Franco Barbi). Or even its usage of just pointing out the ruthless nature of war, science, and knowledge (Easterman and Wernicke). Outlast presents these themes in a way that doesn’t feel exploitative or sensationalist, but rather tasteful and honestly well written. Then there’s the insanity of it all. I personally never liked it when horror movie killers talked because it sounded goofy. Outlast subverts this by having its villains talk not because they want to scare you but because it’s either involuntary or they’re actually just pissed at you. Mental illness is another thing that’s really distasteful in most horror stories, but Outlast handles this well while still being creepy by pointing out that these people aren’t evil, they’re just all victims of an abusive entity like the Murkoff Corporation (Mount Massive, all the ex-pops), abuse (the three prime assets), or even real life factors (Screamers, Night Hunters, Phyllis Futterman). As you can tell, Outlast has practically been a hyper fixation for me since Gaming Harry started posting about the trials. Keep on man, I love this series and your videos!
A very well written summary. Red barrels is geniuenly among the most underrated game studios ever. Their ability to write complex but poetic stories that really hit you in a deep layer of emotion, is really matching and even often exceeding those of the major game companies.
Honestly when I played the original and its dlc back in the days I never expected it would come this far. I always thought it would be the type of series to just be a one done deal. Like a decade later here I am watching some 2 hour essay on the lore lol.
Yeah, it almost feels similar to how Metal Gear handles its lore in that sense. It's believable and so well-researched, but also very fantastical at the same time.
I actually have every single one of your outlast trials lore videos in order of when in the timeline the events happened. This supercut is actually much more convenient, I don’t have to have downloaded like 7 or 8 different videos. Thank you
Outlast is for sure my fav horror game series since the first game. I consider it the best horror game series made. People i speak to really only know about it as a terrifying horror game but they don't actully get its a really dark, but deep story that takes alot of time to research and understand and i love how an indie game developer has put this much time and energy into all there games when triple A companies just dump laze cash grabs yearly. Red barrels take 3-6 years between games so that they can really make the games worth playing with a good story and gameplay mechanics. I love your channel mate and always come to it when there is a new update for this game knowing you will be able to break it down and explain the things i miss or don't understand. Cheers mate!
Harry, apparently I was in the top 0.6 percent of viewers for you in the past year. Love your videos and have been obsessed with Outlast Trials lately. I appreciate you man. Keep up the great work
Thank you so much Harry. I struggle playing these kinds of games but I still want to be able to enjoy them. Because of your videos I have been able to part take in media I never thought I would be able to. Even though I have watched all 9 previous videos I intend on watching this video just to show my support and love for you and your work. Thank you again for everything you do.
YES. Also, have you considered uploading an audio only version of these videos? I usually listen to them, especially these long ones, while I'm working.
These outlast videos of yours are my favourite to watch! I always jump immediately on the notification so this is basically Christmas come early for me
Your videos on the outlast series as a whole are the very reason I started playing the games and most recently trials. Keep up the great work and can't wait for the next update!
19:39 The what now? Love that pronunciation 😅. Found your channel recently and have been enjoying your library. Always appreciate someone who does what they do well. 👍
Amazing work on this Harry!!! I don’t play the games as I’m more of a watcher plus I don’t have a lot of time to play games normally so I always look forward to your lore videos! Insane effort you’ve put into this, absolutely incredible! Thank you and I hope you can rest during the holidays!
I find myself disagreeing with that sentiment the more and more I play and understand trials. They aren’t going for the same thing despite having a somewhat similar baseline. It’s like comparing an apple to a candy apple. Trials is just Outlasts gameplay with way more mechanics and lore that is just as rich as the previous games. Possibly more so since they keep adding to it. Just because it isn’t as influential as the first game or as noteworthy in the wider games industry that really make it trash? I think people just see the “multiplayer” and “live service” tags and just instantly assume it’s another cynical cash grab without knowing anything about it.
@Scabloonshki Yeah when the developers said that the game will be multiplayer everyone started to think that the game will be like "Death by daylight" and will have no lore and then posted videos on UA-cam saying that the game will be disappointing
Man Harry you have been killing it with these videos. Keep up the amazing work. You got an amazing skill of breaking everything down and explaining the story in aneasy to understand and interesting way. Thanks again! Outlast in particular because its definitely a game I couldn't play! Way too much of a wimp to try! 😆
Noakes crying when he found out it was Thanksgiving when he asked Perry for the date destroyed me 😢 Man just misses his family and wants his brother to know he’s still alive. I can’t imagine
Before hearing your lore videos on outlast trails I was never interested but since watching them Ive become interested as you explain it in a way that my brain can understand
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. I’m a big fan of your videos but for some reason my ADD won’t let me get through the Trials Series videos without forgetting were I left off 😅 this is a huge help
I love how they have been working the lore into the updates the game receives. Like Easterman getting put under pressure by the board lead to the creation of the escalation therapy trials.
What will suck is not being able to enjoy all these events that built the story once the game is no longer being worked on by developers.. The holiday events and new content are really good and it'll be sad never seeing them again in the future
I noticed a different tone of your voice and different wording. Did you re-record all of this? If you did, Jesus Christ man, I salute you. This project is the definition of a masterpiece❤
I can't play the Outlast games because of some trauma responses that were triggered in the original, it's dlc, and it's sequel, but I love watching your lore videos, so thanks so much for making them.
I just love how the outlst games mix real history with there own story. It just makes the games better. There villains are not ghosts or monster. They are messed up people. Even the all almighty walrider came from a messed up human. Everything in the best horror games ever made could happen in real life.
What is also insane is that these videos don’t even really touch too much on information derived from dialogue, like how the Pouncers mention a Clyde, Leland ranting about his paranoia and childhood trauma, as well as mentioning him serving in Okinawa specifically & his father in Germany during WWII, Phyllis having very telling "conversations" with her Futterman doll where a line kind of reveals how he might have passed on, and Franco bluntly stating to the observing doctors that Salvatore murdered all his wives including his birth mother. And the way in which the P.A‘s interact with one another when they are paired up for a trial??? Leland and Franco‘s dynamic is my absolute favourite because they are non stop projecting like crazy. That is not to say that this video isn’t made BEAUTIFULLY, but it speaks to how much more up close and personal the Ex Pop - Prime Assets especially - are written. Outlast villains across the board have always been written so much better than people like to give RB credit for. They feel like people, not set pieces. Plus the environmental storytelling where Leland cowers and sobs on tape in the "Teach the Police Officer" Challenge? Franco and Amelia being teased through changes in the Trial environments? Underrated moments. Underrated lore. Favourite fictional thing.
How many different, distinct stock photos from historical archives did you use in this? This seems like a butt-ton of research and collection of still images for editing filler.
I have a theory i know it might sound wild but what if by the end of seanon 2 dr easterman will becoming the skinner man himself and will become a prime asset from a gameplay point of view since he started loosing his mind his body started regresing and potentialy he might form a mental conection with the expops kinda creating the bluprint for how the nanobots from the wallrider since the egregore
Stupid qiestion but since im getting this game by coming in late am i missing something gamplay wise by season 1 ending? I know theres events but besides that do regular missions go away once the seasons ends or that stays? It should stay right?
Nothing gameplay wise. Obviously the game has evolved since its release, but the Seasons are mainly connected to the narrative. Season 2 will likely focus on the new revolt, whereas Season 1 was learning about the Trials, the Characters and the ExPops, etc. In reference to the comment above mine, they haven’t taken off any maps. After a certain amount of time, the MK Challenges get moved into the Escalation Therapy, and are available through the Weekly Trial Programs.

@GamingHarryYT u used to be able to play every map all the time u didn't have to wake for weekly events to get them back I got over 800 hours on the game bro had. The game since it came out stop playing for the last 3 to 4 months started playing yesterday noticed a few maps weren't on their any more sabotage the lock down release the prisoners escape the courtyard open the gates and a few others I just 4got the name to it but I believe when u play escalation u get to play those maps but that's the game mode where u get to pick items and powers up each level and it gets harder and harder amd the maps are chosen at random I think that's the only time besides maybe weeklys that u get to play those maps again
I learned more history in this video series about mutiple CIA incidents than I have before, given the majority of the topics are all about MKULTRA and not the involvement in Africa and China. It's scary to think that psyche manipulation was real.
for some reason......these graphics remind me of the Arkham series.....and I don't mean the night vision/xray vision, as they both seem to be based on existing 'tech' as far as I can tell. its when there is onscreen 3rd person character violence?
I was pleasantly surprised that Mao’s influence on women’s rights was mentioned. It was one of the few good things that came out of the Cultural Revolution. It has continued to influence modern day China, resulting in China being the least misogynistic by far out of the big 3 East Asian countries. But we Americans only ever hear about the horrors that came out of the one child policy despite it being abolished I think nearly a decade ago? China was still very much a developing country that relied heavily on hard labor at the time so that was a big reason why people wanted sons. Not that there isn’t thousands of years of misogyny still rampant in society (thanks Confucius), but in terms of authorities and law they take women much more seriously than even here in the US. They don’t even need to rely on ignoring and hiding DV and SA crimes to fake low crime rate like Japan and Korea.
It is crazy to think that from all the videos made, Season One was able to be condensed to under two hours. Well done on compiling all the videos together so we can see everything from start to finish.
I wouldn't call it condensed. It's literally all the videos just put together to make one big one. But I get what you probably meant
You took a game full of lore and brought us damn near a 2-hour documentary. I truly look forward to these videos and discussions. You truly have outdone yourself Harry!

It's crazy that Blake was staring right at the facility back in outlast 2
when you stare into the abyss the abyss stares back at you
I actually have every single one of your outlast trials lore videos in order of when in the timeline the events happened. This supercut is actually much more convenient, I don’t have to have downloaded like 7 or 8 different videos. Thank you
I was literally just thinking "Dang I wish the playlist of this guy's lore was in the order" and then this vid comes out as salvation!
Babe wake up.
New Outlast Trials lore video just dropped.
Nice! I was getting a bit lost in the lore... definitely a handy video

You can just lock your screen. Then it won’t pause or anything on accident.
Hey how do you do that is it like bound on like specific phone models or only on laptop@@coolguyinc.1555
@coolguyinc.1555 I do.
I’m so going to enjoy backlogging every season that’s yet to come of The Outlast Trials
These outlast videos of yours are my favourite to watch! I always jump immediately on the notification so this is basically Christmas come early for me

Hi brother i always love your videos so much - will watch it now❤
Harry it’s almost like you knew I needed something to take a nap to 👀
Sweet, thanks for another fantastic video Harry!
I love all your videos on these games! I just don’t have time to actually play them so I really enjoy having a way to play them through you ❤
Awesome work! It's cool how the the story incorporates the cold / vietnam war into its lore and world-building. Can't wait for season 2!
19:39 The what now? Love that pronunciation 😅. Found your channel recently and have been enjoying your library. Always appreciate someone who does what they do well. 👍

Thank you for the summary! I know you already know this but a lot of us do like to listen while doing other stuff.
Outlast 1 fanbase: The outlast trials is trash compared to the first and has no lore
Literally this guy is proving the opposite about the game
I find myself disagreeing with that sentiment the more and more I play and understand trials.

Thanks for the arm wrestling photo!
I don't play the game, but i didn't realize all of this info was just for 1 season. Wow! Thanks for putting it together
I don't play trials myself but my wife and her gaming group love it. Very interesting stuff.
perfect timing!
Last time I was this early on a gaming harry lore video britain had an economy.
Just in time for a nap! Love what you do ❤
Great video Mr. Harry!
I love how they have been working the lore into the updates the game receives. Like Easterman getting put under pressure by the board lead to the creation of the escalation therapy trials.

Woah, i was surprised how you were able to compile all this lore in a whole video.
I noticed a different tone of your voice and different wording. Did you re-record all of this? If you did, Jesus Christ man, I salute you. This project is the definition of a masterpiece❤
Yeah. Wanted it to sound consistent! And thanks!
I can't play the Outlast games because of some trauma responses that were triggered in the original, it's dlc, and it's sequel, but I love watching your lore videos, so thanks so much for making them.
Shoutout to Zebras. They are cool.

Much like the reagents, the Wild Chase or rather… *The Wild Hunt* activated my PM sleeper agent brain into a frenzy.
Im only at 11:14 at this point are we still talking about a video game?

Finally some more sleep therapy
A new outlast lore video for me, a non outlast player to devour ❤
Thank you!

Big video. Nice now I have something to do.
Man outlast is such a cool series of games
1:25:20 hmm, never heard that dialogue from Nurse Barlow before that’s neat
Bro i bought this when it fist came out and completely forgot about it, im gladd it got an actual story
The more I learn the lore of this franchise, the more Wernicke seems to be the more sane between him and Easterman.
silent hill 2 lore?? please :)
Maybe soon!
perfecttttt
I want them to add a rig to where we can actually counter or attack a primary asset OR ACTUALLY ATTACK ON JUMP AM
A lot. I also have a subscription to the New York Times TimesMachine. Every newspaper from 1886 or something like that
If some subjects were from place from 1 outlast then we know those shenanigans in trials went unpunished
Love ur vids on all outlast lure and wish u update the 2nd channel eith outlast gameplay
Nice !
You're one of the best, man. Keep it up.
Snacks and drinks acquired! Let's go.
I can finally sleep in peace
49:08 I didn't even know that
harry when are you going to do the other two dlc of remnant 2. The forgotten kingdom and the dark horizon.
I have a theory i know it might sound wild but what if by the end of seanon 2 dr easterman will becoming the skinner man himself and will become a prime asset from a gameplay point of view since he started loosing his mind his body started regresing and potentialy he might form a mental conection with the expops kinda creating the bluprint for how the nanobots from the wallrider since the egregore

yooooooo new sleep aid just dropped 🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥
Didnt think I'd see a whitey bulger mugshot pic in an outlast lore video 😂
I swear Easterman will be our last prime asset.
for some reason......these graphics remind me of the Arkham series.....and I don't mean the night vision/xray vision, as they both seem to be based on existing 'tech' as far as I can tell. its when there is onscreen 3rd person character violence?
Just got the deluxe edition of outlast trials on sale
I hope Clyde Perry survive all of this, idk if he’s like a bad person but he’s been through a lot.
Watch my video on Project Breach. Your opinion on Clyde may change!
The only good person connected to the trials is the mechanic knoakes
1:19:40 most sources say it's like 400k-500k, with 300k being the very minimum
