Just joined. I’m having trouble sourcing enough low carb items that taste good, so I thought I would try this for a year to help with my insulin dependent diabetes. I’m better on new treatments but going to the store for suitable products is a total joke. Fingers crossed!

@@RichardBorgmandabs I live in a very warm and humid climate. Every delivery service I’ve tried with protein , veggies and fruits can’t seem to deliver food without the dry ice or other cold packs melting/evaporating before it gets to my front door. I go with seasonal local produce and bring it home myself. It’s finding snacks and the basics to make low-carb breads, crackers, etc. that is a problem. I found a recipe using coconut oil the other day that should have been easy to make. I couldn’t find coconut oil anywhere, including health food stores. Maybe it was the Holiday cooking crush, but this is worth a try.

We all need to remember no matter if it's a pet, a plant, a friend, a neighbor, or a loved one, a family member None of us are promised our next breath. That we need to cherish every moment you have with one another.
It's so hard when our furbabies reach their twilight. Dogs should live much longer. Kenji and all of you are in my thoughts and prayers for the highest and best.
What is there not to love about this video - incredible scenery, great background music, parents and child bonding time, teaching and learning, a snack break, a Kenji update that oozed with love, and an inspirational reminder that today is all we really have. Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift, and that's why it's called the present. Thank you!

Sad to hear about Kenji, God Bless him. I have a LhasaApso/Shihtzu ,Charlie, Charlie had a tumor on his side, vet kept draining it, finally could drain no more. Within a month tumor grew to size of a softball. He is 13 years old, vet operated, Charlie did fine. Mass sent out, results came in, stage 2 Cancer,low grade. Hes happy, no pain, eats good, slightly overweight but at least gave him more time. Enjoy them while with us.
So sad for Kenji. He has had the best life a dog could have. You can talk all you want about rainbow bridges, but when you deal with a family pet it can be heartbreaking. When our dog, Sherlock, passed, I think I cried for days. I still grieve for him. My heart goes out to you. Love him up while you can, Kenji knows you love him. That matters.
Gotta love corn nuts!! You are right, shopping is nuts. I’m a single senior and have see the cost of things skyrocket. It’s tough when you need stuff that keeps getting more expensive every week.

When I was 10 y/o my cousins from Kentucky, who were carpenters, came to stay with us for a summer and build a new house for my family. I was on the job site all day everyday and learned a bit of everything about construction. I added this to the knowledge I was already gaining from being a farm kid, knowing about growing crops and raising animals, along with repairing things when they break. Ironically, many years later, I began working for a retail home improvements chain as a manager. It was invaluable knowledge that I had retained from all those years int eh past that helped me work with a variety of customers from homeowners to landscape and construction contractors. So it's never a bad thing to learn life lessons when you're young.
Happy New Year!! Kenji has the best family in the world. I lost my beloved Husky 2 months ago to Cancer, and the grief is real. You are giving Kenji the best care and love that he needs. They love us just as much as we love them. ❤️ 🐕 🙏

Wow, 😭. I know he is 90 but that is never easy. I’m glad you brought him home. We took our 18 year old rescue for a regular vet visit and that is when the doctor said “enough, it’s time.” I feel so much a part of your family that that is a day I’m not looking forward to with Kenji.

Ive been praying day and night for Kenji! I praying that his last days are good. It's so hard to lose your fur baby❤! I'm in tears as I remember when I lost my Sheba girl she had liver cancer. This is so sad about Kenji but being another old dawg dreaming I know there will be peace when the time comes. No more pain or suffering but more time for remembering the joyful time here with our families. Please do not be sad that he has moved on to his peace. Rejoice in the years you were there as a friend and care taker for him and the joy he brought to you with his always being there for you. I have also taught my dog with hip arthritis to “stretch” after laying down for some time. It helps with his hip PLUS allows blood flow to the area that might had been restricted lying down thus making the hind leg to fall asleep. I remind him as he’s getting up to “stretch” and reward him with enthusiasm. Front legs straight out and his hip up high for a good stretch.
Good news for Kenji. Good news for all of you who love and care for him.

OMG guys, my heart is breaking for you with Kenji. My own GSD is turning 11 in April which is very old for a German Shepherd. She is also losing weight (muscle mass) but thankfully her hips are still good. I pray you get another year or two with Kenji, and I get the same with my Leta. Jeremy, you must be SO happy to be done with the overhead drywalling. When we added the 520 sq ft addition to our home, we used scissor trusses for the cathedral ceilings. The worst/hardest part of the entire addition build was doing the overhead drywalling. I am so happy for you that it is done. You need to oil up that drywall lift lol. We are finally back to reality here in N. Saskatchewan. Currently -20 and going to -42 on Tuesday night brrrr. I see in your forecast that snow and cold is coming for you too this coming week. The mild fall was a nice change for us up here. As always, sending love and hugs and a special hug for Kenji and a "woof" from my Leta and Colt.
Watching with my two dogs on my lap snuggled up next to me an one is 10 and one is 9 this month. They are my best friends. I know time is short. Prayers for Kenji.

Definitely cherish every moment! Our angel, Max, is a real angel now. He went through a similar experience, and eventually could not stand or walk without his wheelchair. I stopped working and spent nearly every one of his waking moments of his last 8 months trying to make his life as comfortable as possible. We burned through a large amount of our emergency fund. I don't regret it one bit. He gave our family joy for over 19 years, and we wanted to do whatever we could for him! He always loved getting kisses, and I'm pretty sure he averaged at least 100 kisses per day in his last years! 😊 🐩

I lost my Grace to bone cancer and old age three months ago. I never imagined my heart could hurt so bad as I said goodbye to my friend of 13 years. Also, I am -well- into my 50's now and still treasure the times I worked with my Dad, in my memories, and am thankful that I can still do so. It wasn't always easy, but he taught me a lot.
I have 5 dog's, the oldest is Daisy, she's 13 and we're just enjoying and cherishing each day with her, she's partially blind , just dreading for that day😢.

As a human that grew extra bones (spurs) in my shoulders, I can attest to the pain they actually cause, it’s going to be hard as they are on his spine, but the less he moves the less it will hurt. You could try CBD.
Kenji will let you know when it’s time, he’s had a happy 90 odd years with his 1 family, which is a blessing in its self.
So pleased the C hasn’t returned, you’re a good boy Kenji 😊.

We had our gas water heater in the garage and it kept it about 50° during our winter, which is much milder than yours.

Go Kaimani! I realised only just in time that I should’ve paid attention to my father’s carpentry skills. He taught me how to use a handsaw, but I should have learned so much more!
Btw I do like doing drywall, bc it turns a skeleton into a space.
Never too late to gather the skills - I have used youtube to hone in my skills.
Sadly, pets dogs/cats can suffer with health problems ones they get to an age in their life. Let's hope you have more time still to love your dog. Jeremy must dream of drywall, he loves it so much.

Happy New Years you guys and gals. Yep .... when your pets get old it is difficult to watch them go down hill. My German Shorthaired pointer Max was 110 pounds when he was a mean and lean hunting machine. By the time he passed, he was less than 75 lbs. He was 14 years old when he passed in 2020. All we can hope for is that they do not suffer in the end. All the best to your family, and most of all to the "Wrinkle Dog" Kenji .... take care🐕✌🏻
It is so hard to watch our beloved pets getting older. I know I love watching Kenji as many others. Kenji has had a wonderful loved life. I have two cats who are not phased with fireworks or thunder. The girls will sit at the slider and listen to it.
January 20th will be the 2nd anniversary of my Ziva crossing the Rainbow Bridge. She loved me perfectly for 12 years, but she was tired, in pain, and she was ready. I held her and cried the day she came into the world, and I held her and cried the day she left it. I got another fur baby a few months later, and I swear that Ziva is somehow giving Brody pointers on how to get certain reactions out of me. He still surprises me with his out of the blue "Ziva-isms", and if she really is teaching him how to con me out of extra treats, I guess I'm ok with it!
There is one thing that I know for sure when it comes to our pets. They love us so completely, so amazingly, so selflessly, up until their last breath... and the only thing that we can do for them when their time comes, is to hold them, tell them it's ok, and to give all of that love back to them.
Dear Kenji, all that remains for me is to thank you for the company you have given us throughout the journey. I never heard a single bark from you to tell us something, but with your look you told us enough. Until the last days your fortitude is demonstrated, since not even illness bends your great body and it does not dull your eyes either. You will go to a place where we are all going to arrive sooner or later, you will be with your canine friends and the most important thing is that you will not feel the pain that we know you carry in a brave and gallant way. I hope that in that future reunion you still remember us, great friend. ❤❤

Getting old is not fun-and if you think of a dog who lives majority of his life outside, time, weather, moves from one climate to another and so on takes its toll. What makes a difference in Kenjis case is that he’s well loved and cared for. Here’s to the life his 90 year old self has lived and time to enjoy what’s left with his people♥️happy 2024 to all of you!

Kenji has had an incredible life you all of you. I love that you do not hesitate to get him checked and do what is necessary to insure he is comfortable. Having had dogs my whole life, and losing more than I care to think of, I know exactly how all of you feel. You are good dog parents. My prayers are with Kenji for more quality time with all of you. He is such a sweet, smart dog. The garage is looking great and love that you won't be using it for storage, just cars. The apartment will be such a great addition to your home. Hi Guys, Always nice to see you all. I realized that my old cc was discontinued and my membership with you ended. I finally got around to renewing. Things are looking so good! Always inspirational. Kenji is such a good boy and he has been living his life surrounded by love and fresh air. My prayer is that he lives the remainder of his days as comfortably as possible and that you're all going to be able to handle whatever may be by simply loving each other through. I'm happy to be doing my little part to show support for all of the warmth your family has offered my soul. :)

I have had three cats now. When the first one died, the void was unbearable. It was really hard to cope with the change in routine, but I couldn't see getting another cat because that seemed to be disloyal, and I couldn't imagine replacing my "child." A year to the day later, another cat showed up on our back porch and I adopted her. After 19 years, I finally lost her, too. I got another cat five days later. The difference in the pain level was night and day. Having a new baby to love filled the void and made letting go SO much easier. After going through both experiences, I highly recommend getting another dog as soon as possible after you have to say goodbye to Kenji. Also, keep in mind that you have given Kenji a wonderful life, and that he will no longer be in any kind of pain, but will be waiting joyfully for when you are all reunited again.

I wonder whether a winter doggy jacket might perhaps help him with his hips & spine during the colder weather (perhaps even a heated one)? It might also offer him a little padding/ insulation from the surfaces he lies on, especially in areas where he’s perhaps lost some from his body.
I think it's great teaching life skills. My dad taught me a lot. So glad Kenji is doing good. They become such a big part of our lives.
