We just bought 21 acres with a creek, pasture, alfalfa field, double-wide trailer, machine shed and loafing sheds. Cash is king. Homeschooled all three kids. Two of the three graduate this spring from college debt free, last one graduates from high school this year. No debt. Very little spending, a lot of saving. We’ve been doing what you’ve done.

Congrats but there's a huge difference, he built a house, a huge barn, a two car garage, has new vehicles, he bought a brand new jd tractor, a new rv, horses, sheep, extensive fencing - a well putnin, a septic system put in, and he is essentially saying they did it all olusbthe land on $200k. I did one time and 5 years later I still have buyers remorse 😩 I took two of my daughters for a weekend getaway in Duluth MN, we were walking around on canal street watching the ships and window shopping, it was windy and freezing cold. We walked by Starbucks and the smell made a hot cup of coffee seem like heaven, we each got a dessert, I mean “coffee” and of course I treated my kids.....it was $18.87 😳 It was like a dessert and it was a treat but there are other things I would rather treat myself too !!!!!
This video was my introduction to your Family 💕... I loved the shirts & sweet potatoes 🌱🍠... I THINK YOU SHOULD WEAR THOSE T-SHIRTS AGAIN ❣️... Always remember where you came from 😉😆
Good advice guys! A lot of young couples could benefit from this wisdom. Spending on coffee, eating out at McDonald’s all the time......etc. families need to cook at home again!
Just had this come in my feed. After my divorce I went back to work . I rented a one bedroom bsmt apt near my kids ( 3 ) school so they would not have to move. The kids shared the bedroom and I slept on the couch. They never went hungry. They didn't have a ton of clothes but they were good quality and passed down. I was able to save for braces for two kids, 3rd one didn't need them. I told them if they wanted to go to college or university they would have to get a job and save for it. They did. I was also very strict. They are in their thirties now and I am very proud of them. It hasn't always been easy and to be honest they think I was too strict but you do what feels right to teach your kids values. Value your work, and value the money you earn. I see too many people with a hand out but not willing to work . As thus video is several yrs old I will assume your kids have been raised to value their time, and any money they earn. I did not have extra money to give my kids an allowance and I told them we are a family, we all do chores to make the family more comfortable.
You guys are the “together” version of my family. LE family, 4 kids, want to move off grid etc. But opposite. We spend too much and waste. This is motivating me to get out lives straight. Great job...
I commented on this video before but after watching it today I looked at my first comment and suddenly saw something. I commented: I wish.. I wish.. while instead I should have thought: today I begin at the start of my goal. No more wishing. Today I begin at the start of my goal. I will save our money and use your good advice to do that. Today is the first day. Ready. Set. Go.
Absolutely inspiring once again to hear your story. Thanks for also being transparent, you didn't have to share how you saved. But I definitely appreciate it, you guys have left a blue print for One to imitate. Thanks again.
Ana Rivera , there is good and bad everywhere. There are bad cops that make good cops look bad. My nephew is a state trooper. He started as a town police officer and decided to work for the state. We have always worried about his work but he enjoys his work. I have very good officers in my area. One took my son in a selected group in a plane ride and he got to do several things that the officers do to encourage children to stay in school try to get good grades. He won an award and that felt good. He works now for a college as a programmer/coder. When I lived in a neighborhood that wasn’t the best at one time, I was determined to make it as safe as I could with other parents and was very active with neighborhood watch. When I moved, I had many to say I would be missed, but everyone is different. To see a man killed and his killer staying on his neck although he was handcuffed was just wrong. Four cops there and not one stopped him. He took his job as power to do whatever he wanted. Regardless of the crime or was it him, it was not his job to kill someone in that situation.
Y'all just explained exactly what my husband, kids and I are doing. Especially loved the 'pick one extracurricular' & boredom breeds creativity part...SO true. Extracurriculars outside of the home are destroying families. Ball games 5 days is not only stressful for all involved it's also terribly expensive and keeps families apart. Plus, let's be honest....your kid isn't going pro so what will they have gained in the end. Teach your kids to fish and...... you get it.

Subbed, thanks for this. Been struggling the last couple years and finally decided to start a microgreens business. Want my kids to have a good future. They all love fowl and other animals, so they'll be partially self-sufficient at the start when they're older. It took me too long in life to realize the little things I buy here and there. At 41 it can be depressing to feel behind, but I'm turning that energy into saving and growth. Cheers!
Great advice. I'm one of 7 kids I have 3bros, 3 sister's. Grew up outside if the city, refer to my self as a country bumpkin, not a city girl.. I learned how to do lots of stuff cheap. We all got what we needed not so much as you want. To this day I buy my clothes at thrift stores, refuse to buy high end items. I remember cleaning fish, birds with my bros n dad. I can cook game and lots of stuff. Grew gardens still do, we had meat rabbits also. My kids grew up having more than I ever did. My husband was more eccentric had to have more stuff , you didn't need or had purpose, when he passed away after 30yrs together, I gave my kids everything and left. I love my life , my kids, grandkids. I want them to grow up knowing you don't need to have all that to be happy, less is more. Follow your heart n desires do it don't just talk about it sorry I'm rambling. Later

Proud of you guys, you'll did just as Dave Ramsey recommends.
Love Dave Ramsey
Exactly
God Bless you all. If I were able that would be me. I am 84 years old and you both are GREAT. Take care and I will keep you in prayers.xxxxxxoooooo keep safe.
You and your family have been a God gift to me I lost both my legs and was very painful and low time but I found your show and it was just a blessing to me to watch you billed your own home and the way you are as a family so thank you so much for all the work you have done and the gift you give out I might of lost my legs but I can still dream and have a life after all the pain and suffering I went through now I am pain free and I do all my exercise and I might walk again but if not I still have a life and I can still dream but you have tort me is have plans to make my dream real so when I wake up I still have a plan I am working on so thank you 🙏
❤
Recently came across you folks, wanted to know your background, found it. Thank you. G.
😉
I am 63 yr old and Ive never had a starbucks in my life.
65 years old & I have never tasted coffee, it just doesn't look good
You're not missing anything.
@James Bond How do you know "no one is perfect"?
Sugar in coffee, processed food makes you not "perfect"?
amusing
Just make them yourself haha
I did one time and 5 years later I still have buyers remorse 😩
I took two of my daughters for a weekend getaway in Duluth MN, we were walking around on canal street watching the ships and window shopping, it was windy and freezing cold.
Always remember where you came from 😉😆
❤️
Good advice guys! A lot of young couples could benefit from this wisdom. Spending on coffee, eating out at McDonald’s all the time......etc. families need to cook at home again!
Amen, thank you!
Your thinking and philosophies of life are just terrific! We need more people like you. Big Cheers from Jerry in Chiang Mai
I sure love your honesty. Good luck with your dream.
Thank you very much!
I did not have extra money to give my kids an allowance and I told them we are a family, we all do chores to make the family more comfortable.
you two are POWERFUL!!! So blessed to have found you!!
Nope, just driven/determined. Thank you though.
Agreed!!!
I am SO impressed with you both...amazing!
You guys are the “together” version of my family. LE family, 4 kids, want to move off grid etc. But opposite. We spend too much and waste. This is motivating me to get out lives straight. Great job...
My family had always been thrifty , like you. Great how much you or anyone can save. Good for you !!!!!!!!!!
Ready. Set. Go.
You got this!
Good on you both very few folks take the hard road for the better pay off in the long run
Absolutely inspiring once again to hear your story. Thanks for also being transparent, you didn't have to share how you saved. But I definitely appreciate it, you guys have left a blue print for One to imitate. Thanks again.
You guys are Amazing! ♥️💞🏡💞♥️🙏
Good for you and your kids will learn the true value of life and financial future
Hats off to you
Love you guys from florida great job
I’m sorry about what is happening to the police right now. Thank you police officers.
Flash forward 2023 you guys are killing it!
Teach your kids to fish and...... you get it.
I bet they are making more than dozens of dollars on YT now, their channel is growing and will continue. Great family and I am happy for them
“Whatever you are, be a good one” that quote is from Abraham Lincoln
Best advices ever. ✔️
It’s so neat to see where the journey all began. I look forward to following as the journey continues.
I appreciate the true partnership of self-discipline and goals.
I love 💕😘 that phrase have goals not dreams, my new words of encouragement for others for 2021
Thank you both so much!!😊
Ways to save money with kids,..........tell them NO. lol
Move them away from money-spending places!
Just just ask them, “is it your birthday?” They are the ones to say no while I just say put it on your wish list 😊
Amen !!!
Then teach them the value of things by hard work and earning money to buy what you want !!!!!
It is Very Refreshing to see young folks like Y’all. Thank you for being ordinary people. You and simple living Alaska are two of my favorite 5 channels. Thank you for your ethics and humor.
Thank you so much!
You've done an amazing job sir. Thank You for sharing your adventur adventures.
When your "side hustle" becomes your career. I love you guys. And I miss that intro!!!! Naevahs beautiful voice
This a really great family story. You just blew me away again. I have really been watching your show maybe 3 months now. I really enjoy it. Love your farm. You two are funny and great to watch. The kids are so lucky to live as you do.
Be Bless. Thank you for sharing your life and farm with us all.
IM SO PROUD OF YOU GUYS. Have a. Blessed day
Thank you ❤️
Just love the way that you are so open, breaking everything down, your honesty, straight forward thinking & the way you guys are always supportive of each other & the way you allow your children to breath & develop they will be so rounded ! You both are a breath of fresh air & truly blessed as we are to be a part of your journey ❤️👍
Very realistic advice. Good job on being real.
This was great----thank you for taking the time to explain your financial strategies. Love it.
You are wise souls....so enjoy ya'll.
Since my aging relatives won't eat anything I try to feed them without a "taster", my wife and I have taken the same approach as you have and amazingly, it works!
I spent many years in an organization that was like the Peace Corps, but with guns. We had a boss who's motto was, "Hope is not a plan". He was correct.
So fun to rewatch your "old days"! I am so impressed and very happy to see all your work pay off years later (I watch you in real time 10/2024 now :) and just love it! Congratulations on your new family addition "so to be" here! What a great example you have set for so many! I hope your channel continues to grow enough to be your primary source of income! I know I can't wait to watch all your adventures! God bless you all! We have a 40 acre ranch in Oregon and we couldn't we happier! Similar lifestyle, cows, horses, chickens, raising our own food and loving life!
I recently started watching you guys and just found this older video by chance, I had no idea you were a cop also. Awesome you were able to set a goal and see it through. Congrats to you guys and I wish you and your family continued success. Well deserved.
Would be interested to know what your career was Mellisa once you graduated from college. My thoughts are you were in the caring profession !!!
Later
well yall are no longer earning dozens of $$ on youtube now yall are making hundreds of thousand dollars . Congrats to you success . love yall and looking forward seeing the homesteads growth .
Thanks for sharing all your great ideas to make and save money....we have driven several "beater" type vehicles over the years, it take a certain level of self-esteem, it's kinda fun !
Yes, Haha, it take a confident man to drive a baby truck.
You guys are awesome!, likewise my husband & I save, save, save. I cook & freeze, buy clothes from charity shops, & proudly have a neat nest-egg for my Retirement. All the very best with your goals.
Same to you. Thanks!
I loved that you saved the money! Had a dream and worked towards that goal as a family!
You are sooo right! Bless You!
Welcome to Idaho! Love your stuff, especially making the transition realistic for a family!
Thank you for your service! 😊
Man I loved this. From Badge wearer to badge wearer, I commend you guys on what you have accomplished. Don't know how I came across your channel, but I want to do the same type of thing. Buy property in north Idaho and build a log cabin. I'm an active duty cop in the Air Force, but I will one day buy my land in cash like you have, and remain debt free like my wife and I have for a handful of years now.
You crack me up man with your jokes and humor. this is the 3rd video I've watched in your massive vault of vids, but I'm curious to know what you guys paid for majority of things and how you found the freakin' amazing property with those mountain views. Gorgeous plot you guys got yourselves.
Bravo.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We try to have fun with everything. We’ll have a full price breakdown on everything we’ve done eventually so stay tuned on that. God bless and be safe.
Love your story----Bless you and your family
You have done a great job living your lives and your family is looks and sounds like a nice family. Thanks for sharing and good luck in your journey.
Thank you so much, appreciate that!!
God Bless you guys! Great video Amazing Energy!
this is how my family has lived all their life. I have 3 kids in their mid 50's-own their own home, cars, savings -all debt free
I’m not trying to hit on her husband but letting lil mama know her husband is literally one of the best looking men I’ve ever seen, danggggg. You did good girl!!! 😀
Love this video! Lots of great advice and seriously it’s the truth. We somehow get programmed into spending so much on things we want vs what we need. And really we don’t need much to live a fulfilling life. I’m guilty of it myself. It becomes a hard habit to break but I’m working towards it. Congratulations on achieving your goals, can’t wait to see the rest of your journey!
We are all guilty of it lol. Thank you so much for tuning in!!
I really like your channel!
So much love here for you❤❤
