last time i was this early Bach was still alive and kicking
you mean my buddy Johann?
this is so timely! I'm working through Telemann's Fantasias for university auditions right now and this helps so much
You can do it! Happy to help! Let me know how it goes!
This video is so underrated, I have always struggled with how to practice efficiently. This gave me a bit of motivation, so thank you for the great video even if it doesn't get very many likes.
I guess you just posted it 3 hours ago but still.
Glad it was helpful!
I do the same with my guitar!!
😂"learning bad notes"...you mean, accidental accidentals lol 😆! Spoken by a French horn player. We know ALL about bad notes. But growing up one of my best friends was a flute player. So I love the flute, and your channel. God bless!
So true! Thank you david, God bless.
Thank you for this lesson! I’m just now picking back up the flute at 63. It’s been my favorite instrument since the age of 8 and I haven’t played since late 30’s! This is very helpful!
You're very welcome!
What are some tips you know that help you with practicing? Let me know down below!
I don't know if you've said this or not but my teacher always recommends, on faster or uneasy passages/pieces, to play it backward. This has really helped me! In the future its be really cool if you made a intermediate book!Awesome video!🔥
Backwards its always fun! The intermediate book is almost done actually! Coming in late February!
@@flutechannel Oh, I didn't know that. Well I can't wait for it I'll be sure to get it right when it arrives!
Great to hear! Will be sure to let everyone know!
I have tried playing a piece backwards...it made me see what notes were actually there, and what length they were
Ooo I do that goal thing but usually with little candies so whatever passes the goal is what I get to eat after I’m done practicing
Merci! Très bonne idée d’avoir un but précis . J’adopte.
I need to work on starting slow and then speeding up. I always get it good slow, but never speed it up! 😭
You can do it!
@@flutechannel Thank You! ☺️💖✨
thanks a lot! really helpful for practice! 😊
You're very welcome!
I even enjoy watching you while eating dinner 😳🤣😋
My teacher has me learning pieces as slowly as it takes to play it note perfect, then once you have it note perfect increase the speed. It works well for me.
lovely tips! very helpful. sometimes i don't take a goal, so that's make me bored and stressful during practice. now i'm going to store and buy some paper clip! 🏃♂️🏃♂️
This video was very helpful! I am learning the speedy part of the Chaminade concertino. 🤭
Wonderful!
I concur with these techniques for practicing and have been using them since the 70s. Never practice mistakes and never just play all the way through pieces blindly and consider that practice. A goal is important as stated by Amelie for each practice session. Pick out those difficult passages and work on them specifically then when one is ready, try to run through the piece with no mistakes. I think that when one uses Amelie's suggestions, your practice sessions become very efficient and yield satisfying and immediate results. Make practice perfect instead of practice makes perfect.
Merci Bc. Amélie. : )
I struggle with tonguing & slurring... I have a tendency to do whatever I want. 😅 I really have to slow down & work on it.
Thank you so much this helped so much!
I'm so glad!
Thank you for this helpful tricks to practice effectively!!! If you play it slowly, you can play it quickly and beautifully
You're very welcome!
such great advice!!
Anyone see the Chinese flute proped on the piano?
These are really awesome tips! Was just thinking about going through some of the older worship songs that I play at church, cuz I noticed that I make accidental notes when I have to play it quickly. Hope I'll be able to get rid of accidental notes after following your tips🤞🏻
Thank you it’s really helpful!
I have to try your methods... I picked up my flute after many years of not playing and I don't have great dexterity... Thanks for the tips!
Wonderful!
Excellent tip! This way of studying is very efficient indeed, for some years I have used a method very similar to yours to play difficult passages, I will add to my daily routine some ideas that you went through in this class.
Congratulations for your work!
Excellent!
Really helpful! My teacher already taught me these practice techniques but the examples in the video were very helpful and really helped me! Thanks a lot!
Glad it was helpful!
Great! 😊
Thanks! 😊
Very interesting video! I will definitely use your advice as I practice. I’ve been struggling with certain passages in my recital music and am hopeful this technique will help me. Great advice!
Glad it was helpful! Happy practicing!
I'm so glad!
What are some efficient ways to practice playing the flute without skipping over important lessons to improve? I started practicing my flute again, but don’t know where to start to get better since I’ve already learned the basics.
I’m so happy I found this channel, you’ve helped so much for my lessons thank you!
Omg love the metronome you have. That is an awesome device , what is the model or make of it? Also thanks so much Amelie for the advice. your videos are pure gold. Has helped me so very much and made flute such a joy to learn
Seiko Metronome. Can't see the model number anymore. But should be easy to find online.
I Just Subscribed To Your Channel. And I’m Going To Be Ordering My Flute Next Week Which I’m So Excited. 😃😃😃😃😆😆😆😆 About. But I’m Still A Trombone And Trumpet Player. Btw You’re The Best Flute Player.
Welcome! I have a trombone player in the house! Enjoy your new music journey!
That’s Awesome. I’m Going To Enjoy Watching You’re Videos So I Can Learn How To Play The Flute.
Hi! I'm a little lost on my music journey and would like some advise!
Where I live there's Trinity and ABRSM( diploma/performance) diplomas. Which one is more recognized ?
Also if I want to teach flute in future, do I have to take the teaching diploma? 😅I want to take the performing one. Do people teach with their performance diploma?
Hope to hear from u soon!
Both are fine. Of course people teach with a perf diploma or sometimes just conservatory.
Can you play polovtsian dance no 1 please
Is it better to have one beat versus 4 when you practice?
Either is fine really. Alternate.
Her: I just took "trombones". 8:18 🖇📎
Me, a brass player: Excuse me, you took what now? 🤨🤔
(In reality, I discovered in the last week or so that "paper clip" in French is "trombone", so I wasn't too taken aback, but still.) 😂
Ya thats what we call paperclips! lol
Do you have a circulation breathing vid? Last time I tried it I choked on air lmao
I don't. It's rarely used on flute and hard to finesse it. I think there are a few videos by other instrumentalist that do it. The technique is very similar.
When the metronome was at 116, were you double tonguing?
I don't believe I was.
@@flutechannel Wow. You're so fast and it sounds so great. I always always struggle with tonguing to get a clean, crisp sound.
Wtf im doing this piece for grade 8 loll
