- In this video, I update some kitchen cabinets. These are oak cabinets from 1999 and I replace them with some brand new ones! The homeowner went with white uppers and light gray base cabinets to give the kitchen an updated, more modern look.
Here are some more kitchen remodel videos that show how to update a kitchen in more detail.

Thanks for watching! 😀
For being installed in 1999, that is a surprisingly fresh looking kitchen
Not that long ago!
@@Guillotines_For_Globalists what are they doing in the video
I thought the same. Unless they have money to throw, I would've just kept it as is.
@@FKS1994 My kitchen has the original cabinets and countertops from 1973, haha! And I see what SOME PEOPLE LIVE WITH, truly disgusting things. Some people might even think my tastes are "uppity." Unreal.
Yeah I would either stained it a different color or painted the cabinets. Would spend money on new countertops and backsplash.
It’s the attention to details that is so impressive. No short cuts or rigging just to make a job easier. Always consistent quality workmanship.
Honestly I love those time lapse videos where there is only music, but somehow because it is you I don’t mind you talking through it at all. You are so insightful and interesting to listen to.
Thanks so much! 😃
The extra height on those cabinets make such a big difference, along with filling out to the full wall distance. Straightforward refresh, great work!
True it's better to have higher cabinets or cover the tops with sheet rock make like a box above it so no dust lol.
No dust. No happy place for rats and mice. Yup.@@Kt-cn2rq
Time lapse with voice over is the best format, well done.
Great work! I used to make really good money installing cabinets. Me and my buddy used to ask for the house for 24 hours. We’d ask the family to leave and we’d come in tear everything out, paint the room, install cabinets and countertops and hand the house keys back. We’d work straight through until we finished. The longest job we ever did to 30 hours. Zero sleep and only stoped to eat. It was hard but people always loved not being under remodel for day days or weeks. We built the cabinets in my shop usually in 2-3 weeks.
It's so nice to watch someone do quality work. I've had so many people come in to my home, recently, and NOT do quality work. I was beginning to think craftsmanship was a thing of the past.
They can put strip lighting behind the crown molding for up light. Just, a thought. Great job! Love watching your channel.
I was thinking the same thing lol
Same!!
That's what I was thinking.
Great minds think alike apparently! :)
Yeah..that I was thinking, LED strips
Such attention to detail! Awesome job. When I saw the title my first thought was 'oh no - was there a problem with the cabinets in their kitchen?'. Family is important. I miss mine. In the future the memories of such projects can be priceless.
❤😊 Oh My it looks magnificent. Enjoyed everything so much. Sure glad I dropped in a while back. My kitchen is from 1972 made mostly plywood. I’ll probably only be here for 5 years so I will paint add a dishwasher , new electric stove and countertops . Still going to be 3 grand. No solid surface just Formica. Wasn’t thinking of 2 tone till you said it. Gray and white will work for me too. Thanks for that . 😊😊😊
Beautiful job. I am sure they are thrilled with it. Now....if I put a picture of you and your family on my refrigerator, are you coming to do my kitchen? 🤣🤣🤣🤣😏 Thanks for sharing.
Why leaving a gap between the ceiling and the crown molding….. If it was my kitchen I would ask you to fix that. That gap will be full of grease and dust. Everything else beautiful!
Beautiful, great work and wise details. My kitchen is 1959!!! Looking at your work and cabinets instalment,
I was dreaming that you were working in my kitchen!! Good job. Greetings from Rabat, Morocco.
Nice work. I like hearing you narrate the time lapse videos. I wouldn't know what I was looking at otherwise. :) Love the new cabinets. This is what I want to do in my kitchen (or have done). My 1982 honey oak cabinets have definitely run their course.
Great job. My only complaint would be the gap between the crown moulding and the ceiling
This was great! I like hearing you explain everything... you are definitely the person I would want to remodel my home!
Totally! I keep wanting to email him with attached pictures of things I can't figure out how to fix. I would hire him in a heart beat.
How can I reach out to him?! What city does he work in?!
Love the remodel and the video! Beautiful choices and excellent install. I would use a taller board at the top of the cabinet to make the crown molding trim touch the ceiling. Eliminates a space gathering dust.
This is the first video I've seen of yours, and I love the way you explained everything. I love that you made separate videos on things like the microwave install and RTA cabinet assembly, that way no one video is overwhelming or skipping vital details. I'm looking at getting a fixer upper home in a few years (since that's all I can afford lol) and I've been dying to find someone who teaches house remodels in a way that I can learn from and feel inspired. I'm definitely going to start binge watching your channel!
That is amazing to hear! Happy you found my channel and I really hope my videos can help!
Oh man, I love these time lapse videos!
I like the voice-over and time-lapse format!
I like this form tooo .... AND Matt has the sound levels just right with music slightly in the background. Watching utube vids when the sound isn't right and then a commercial comes on and blasts everything you've been trying to remember out of your head hurts.
Finally someone who actually knows what they are doing and did a great job. Kitchen came out awesome and good video.
Thanks, guys! I appreciate that. It’s nice to hear from fellow DIYers!!
I think the commentary with the time lapse is really nice. I enjoyed it a lot. Please consider the same format of some of future videos as well.
Love it! The soft seafoam they chose for the bottom cabinets is beautiful and as always your work is perfect. The only thing I would change is to add molding going all the way to the ceiling, my eye focuses on that gap too much but that's just me. Looks great!
Beautiful! My family has been in construction for more than 80 years and I grew up "on the job" "gophering" for my dad. It was fun to watch your video. Your explanations were clear and concise. Thank you for sharing.
WOW! Incredible Job! I always wondered what the best way to remove old cabinets...THANK YOU!
Beautiful work! I think the commentary audio with the time lapse video is very interesting and more easy to follow. Good job!
Very clean look. Great job. I think the only think that should be added is a light source above the cabinet or below the top cabinets.
Looks great. Wish I could get my cabinets done.
I really love the talking-through format. Thanks for your amazing videos. ☺️🌈
Love watching you work, Matt. You do such a great job!
Came out great?
Dude, that is GORGEOUS! 👍👍
I agree with Peggy's comment. I appreciate the attention to detail. This was a fun video to watch, and the video quality was great! Thanks
The man! If I need any work done, you need to prepare to come to Georgia 😎
Oh WOW! What a difference! It's absolutely beautiful!! As always I understood everything, because you explain it in a way that I can understand. Awesome job as usual Matt!! 😁❤️
I like hearing your comments and describing everything.
Nice kitchen, good job!
I'm a Home Stager and find Before and After absolutely fascinating. You did not disappoint. I loved your step by step process including all creative alternative "fixes" to make it all come together. Great job!!! 😃
Totally agreed
Great video! Satisfying to see the job completed. I really love your work ethic.
Your yapping makes sense so please continue yapping hehe, this kitchen looks great. I was about to start timelapse binging so you read my mind. But still going to timelapse binge on the bathroom remodeling project. Thanks again for sharing. See you in the next video
Nice job
I usually supply an extra panel to cut for above cabinets and take crown to cieling.
they sell a corner hinged cabinet instead of the blind corner.
The video was fine and the kitchen looked great and you did a great job. i enjoy watching you, as if you run into a problem, you find a solution and fix it.
just want to say that I love watching your videos. I'm a fellow native Massachusettsan (Masshole I often say) so I can relate to the old house idiosyncrasies and surprises. I learn so much from you. keep them coming, we'll keep watching, and a great many thanks.
I enjoyed the time lapse and commentary.
You do very detailed, thorough, and relatable projects - thank you. And I could listen to you talk all day. Great job!
Thank you for showing that this can be done with one person. A helper is most times a luxury
Great work, Matt. I like your yapping. ☺️
Thanks Matt. Not sure what next to do !!! Digits above ?
Think I got it.
I love that you are so particular. Your work looks exemplary!
Throwing a couple of LED strip lights into the gap under the ceiling will make it look wonderful!
It’s a GREAT video that I know how to talk some details to my interior designer and ensure everything I expected is going to happen!!! Thanks for sharing 👍🏻
Wow, you're amazing at this. Looks great!
What a beautiful kitchen, I love the two tone cabinets!
You did an absolutely gorgeous job. Wish you were in my area and could do my kitchen. I really enjoyed watching you fix this kitchen. You definitely are a handyman and great at what you do.
I really like this format of video. It provides a nice overview of what needs to be done and then you can watch some other videos for the details.
another excellent vid and it's great to see how clean the other projects look in the background from other vids and knowing how much work that took too .... Bravo!
Incredible difference!! Great job!!
I do like this style! Quick, yet informative.
I’m so glad there are people who like to do this kind of work. I like updating but hate diy.
Wow what a transformation! Awesome job!
EXCELLENT job!! I love your attention to detail.
Looks nice. I loathe the gap between cabinets and ceiling.
Great job - really beautiful results!! Wish I could find someone in my area with that much attention to detail. It's so hard to pick people for big jobs if you aren't someone who is familiar with these things and don't know what to look for before starting such an expensive project.
In my opinion the space between the fridge and the wall could've been used for a tall and deep drawer with multiple wire or wood shelves for spices and stuff(like a little pantry). Even like this it is a really nice lookin' kitchen. Great job! 😃
Impressive. You sure did this with confidence. You knew exactly what you were doing!
Wow! Such precision! Great job, kitchen is fabulous!
Looks great! Always love your time-lapse videos, even though I watch all your videos!
You’re not just a carpenter or a remodeler, you’re an engineer. Nice work.
That's such a dumb statement.
This statement shows people have no idea what engineers actually do.
@@hydroaegis6658 exactly. And it's just Ikea lol
What??! 🤦🏽🤦🏽
What a great refresh. It looks great!
That is a beautiful job. I love time lapsed videos. I just love it when I see your videos. Makes me very happy.
Totally awesome. Fantastic teaching video. 👍 Thank you! You are a craftsman. So many details. So much expertise. Well done.
Looks amazing. Great job!
You’ve convinced me to paint my existing cabinets. 😂 That’s a lot of work. Well done 👍🏻
You were completely right about the cabinet next to the refrigerator
Wow, I would love this kitchen for myself. Beautiful job 😄😄
Cool, very beautiful cabinet.
Brilliant tidy, organized job as usual. 👍👍
This kitchen looks amazing! Really nicely done, and I really liked the format of this video.
Your work is very clean 😊 I like the new cabinets design and colours. Good and hard job.

Number one 👍👍👍❤️
I wish I had the garbage cabinets. The crown molding truly made up for the ugly empty space. BEAUTIFUL!
I have never understood the cheap style of buying short cabinets; leaving a gap between a dusty sealing and the cabinets instead of using the entire space. I got rid off 80s cabinets when I bought my house that went up to a 50s decorative empty drywall box. We went all the way up, sideways and down and we gained so much storage. There was a dead corner and my husband installed a lazy Susan; at the other difficult corner he installed a stainless steel open shelves cabinet.
Fresh and clean!! Great job
You are meticulous and you do beautiful work. This was a joy to watch. 💕
Que bonita quedó esa cocina! Una gran transformación!
Another great install. Lucky family.
Hey love it I wish I had two tone cabinet in my kitchen I love the style and color "never knew what a toe kick heater was had to look it up"😆 thanks for sharing 💙
Love the kitchen! You did a great job!
Everything turned out nice on your kitchen.
I just remodeled my kitchen. On the island, I added a 3 inch pony wall on the back for my outlets and wiring. Also I wanted more of a modern look in my kitchen, I didn’t add any crown molding. I think if you replace the doors between your sink or oven and add glass doors will make a huge difference.
It’s all just preference. Thanks for this video.
I like how you explain things, so I'm all for this type of video, although if you were to do silence time-lapse i'd watch it either way xD
So nicely done. You took your time and all the details. I am so impressed. I Wish you showed abit more of the finished kitchen. Thanks for sharing. Very inspiring.
This is the neatest job ever, so satisfying to watch
Love the update and the format of the video. You always do a stellar job!
Really beautiful and properly done! 👏👏👏👏💞
Thoroughly enjoy your channel. Great work!
I think the cabinet by the refrigerator should’ve been one tall cabinet floor to ceiling for brooms. That tiny little base cabinet looks completely non-usable.
Great job on the kitchen!!!
It’s absolutely gorgeous, I love it
I think you are a perfectionist. I love your work. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This is an epic video full with all the details and efforts to get the glorious work … I like this walk thru form of vid
That kitchen is beautiful!
Super impressive and very detailed work. I watched the whole thing and enjoyed your commentary.
Kitchen looks great!!
Love the format and the kitchen!
Wonderful work! And I love this video format.
