Fun fact: those camo nets are made by Ukrainian arts and crafts groups from schools and communities all over the country. Everyone is doing their part, slava Ukraine 🇺🇦✊🏻
What the hell, Really...Damn its pretty good actually
I know personally it's spread to other countries as well. In Latvia, we make them at schools and workplaces and then donate to Ukraine along donated vehicles or humanitarian aid.
Americans are making them too for Ukraine. SLAVA Ukraini!
When they sing while working.
Wow nice info
American stuff, British stuff, German stuff, Turkish stuff, Russian stuff, their own stuff, all manner of other countries' stuff..... These guys can learn to use it all, and quickly!
Their tenacity, inventiveness, adaptability is impressive- even if they don't get into NATO anytime soon, I feel they will be a valuable 'lessons learned' resource to NATO on interoperability and how to effectively utilise disparate systems for a common objective.
Faced with a sneaky, vicious, infamous, cowardly and lying enemy like russia, membership in NATO is inevitable and the only guarantee for Ukraine that this tragedy will not be repeated.
All they need is an even playing field and they will get rid of the infestation all by themselves. The job of the Free World is now to make sure to close the material gap and grant the Ukrainians a fair game. And I agree - Ukraine will be a very valuable asset to NATO.

I have seen some in service with Bulgaria.
Whilst it may not be the best to use against modern tanks, it's quite readily available and is relatively quick to move and position for a gun of its size.
If I remember correctly, it's main advantages were when used on the offensive and towed by IFVs, but mobility has a defensive advantage too.
Of course shooting a closer range is best as well, but... quite dangerous.

It's obsolete and it's almost a crime to set men the task of trying to hit tanks with this, when the T-72's and T-80's have HE ammunition with a similar range. The tanks can move, but the Rapira marks it's position with an enormous puff of smoke, and can't budge an inch. It's just asking to be immediately taken out with return fire. Plus, it's relatively inaccurate.
@@tasmedic True, it's old AF, but it's hardly the only CW unit being pressed into service or being in service. Both sides have lost so many T's since this circus started that I find it refreshing to put so much faith in those things. It would be situational, but an old anti-tank gun is probably often better than no anti-tank gun. Man-portable AT weapons aren't perfect either. TBH, this really is one of the more mobile AT guns and it's not like they got Boxers or Parthias with the latest AT guns on them.
Totally useless against modern tanks but then again, it'll wreck any IFV or APC it can land a hit on, and I bet it can crack those T-62s Russia had to bring into service.
I think people sometimes forget the actual physical labor involved. Even trenches and other daily tasks are all heavily work. Amazing courage though, these guys are really doing their families and the world proud

The 100-mm cannon is a powerful AT gun deployed in vast numbers in AT regiments by the soviets and such nations as Syria in the '60s and 70s. It is vital that such systems be pressed into defensive combat since the Ukraine OOB seems (understandably) to eschew such venerable towed AT guns in favour of ATGMs. Here, however, the colourful crew is using the piece, seemingly successfully) in an indirect role from discrete positions at maximum range. But imagine the value of 40 or 120 such pieces in a last ditch urban or rear-slope defence, firing those huge AP shells (designed to pierce King Tiger front armour) from rubble positions over open sights at onrushing stalinist tanks...
We are not in 1945 boy. Welcome to 2022. That shell is an apcbc shell. They cannot pen shit agaist composite armor. They are using it mainly as artillery piece
@@augustineanagnosti4549 they're using in sniper role, long range direct fire. it can still destroy light armor and damage tanks. what's incredible is they just leave the gun in place day after day and it doesn't get destroyed?
@@KirbyZhang So many Russian military vehicles have been destroyed so far that there are plenty of stolen civilian vehicles with supplies and Zs on them that still need tactical destroying
@@KirbyZhang sniping? not realy. Its kinda more psychological or against light vehicles. In this role like they showed it here, its only usefull if they have HE-Ammunition.
@@augustineanagnosti4549 The shells that they're using might very well be HEATFS, looking down the barrel at the end shows that its smoothbore and as such using it as a "sniper" role with indirect fire would be completely impossible with normal shells that aren't fin stabilized. HEATFS for the 100mm is still potent, especially if the vehicles they're firing at is light armor or the older T62s that Russia sems to be pumping to the frontlines.
A-IX-2 soviet era explosive mix of rdx nano al and wax in these shell is extremely effective against light armoured targets.

The size of the shells and lasting noise when it's fired. You can literally hear it tearing through the air. The impact must be devastating...
It’s only 100mm shells, so not that big of an impact. They’re best for direct fire.
@@afcgeo882 I believe in contrary that the impact is very strong. Not a large blast but very deep. This is an antitank gun so the projectile is at least supersonic to bring the energy to pierce armor. A wall or a tank will get blasted through easy peasy because of the kinetic energy on impact. That’s why I say it must be devastating. It’s not comparable with a howitzer that comes in slowly and parabolic but with lots of explosives.

The tremendous downside is a lack of mobility. If the muzzle blast from that gun is detected, the crew won't stand a chance against direct or indirect fire. This kind of weapon needs a small drive train that can quickly attach to move the gun and crew after a few rounds. Shoot and scoot.
At nearly 6km, doubtful. Good against lightly armoured kit mind. Those are HEAT rounds being fired not APDS.
no, its not an effective weapon. its been retired for over 30 years now in the Russian army. just goes to show how desperate Ukraine is now.
Looks like a simple, rugged, effective piece of artillery. It does the job. If WW2 German 88mm all purpose guns were still in service, they would be used as well. A formidable weapon.
FYI there ARE places that still use old german 8.8 guns. Some of the Arty being used is from WW2. Some of the rifles are from WW1 (Mosin Nagant).
@@smokejaguarsix7757 Even the Maxim 1910 is still in use in Ukraine, a great machine gun for fixed defensive positions.
@@Canofasahi just no it’s wack Compared to modern ones
The German 88mm would still be a formidable piece of equipment in the right hands today. I wish the Germans were more charitable today with their weapons today. The German's still make some of the best tanks and guns. Germany get 100% behind Ukraine because all our worst fears will still happen if we let Ruzzian Orcs carry on they way the are. I firmly believe we (NATO)should call Ruzzia's bluff and say "Your not fighting the Ukraine. You are fighting us too". It's bold but Ruzzia only listens to strength.
@@Canofasahi and thats what this is and why they can just leave it. This is probably in a well established defensive line near a main supply route within reach of indirect fire. If it gets destroyed they lose little. Meanwhile they use it for fire missions. Win/win.
Really interesting to see a modern conflict. A brutal first phase, then it’s all about drones and artillery
The hope, spirit, determination and grit of the Ukrainian Soldier far outweighs the dismal, down, drunk and emotionally deserted Russian soldier. Ukrainian soldiers will win the day, the year, and the war because the Russian soldier is simply a chaotic derelict relic of an evil past that cannot rise again.
Yeah. No.
In this clip, this gun is being used as artillery, not as an anti-tank gun. It can fire High-Explosive Fragmentation rounds out to about 8Km, and so it can engage hostile troops, buildings and area targets.
but finns have same 100mm or had and it could fire 15 kg? round to 18 km
Except the gunner is telling us that he’s targeting vehicles, and the rounds he’s using are only good for 6,400m.
Maybe it has different kinds of ammunition for different cases?, High-Explosive Fragmentation for area effects, and maybe it has a specific type of Amor-Piercing round designed for heavily armored targets like tanks?

I am no expert, but I can't see them hitting much with an anti-tank gun fired in a ballistic trajectory. I know the Soviets had those dual-purpose type of guns starting during WWII (Zis-2). But still, using them in ballistic mode would be more of a deterrent action more than a destructive one. Anti-tank guns are meant to be fired in direct mode for a reason...

The very interesting thing that all gun boys speaks Russian, and only Roman ( with “press” on the jacket) uses Ukraine language. There is a rule in Ukraine: any customer in the any shop, hospital and so on MUST use Ukraine language ( imagine you have illness and don’t know the language needed according to the laws ). But it doesn’t matter if you are soldiers. Since the first of August the Russian will be not used in schools, but everyone who live in Ukraine knows the most citizens here prefer to speak the language of their enemy.
And the second, from English subtitles, that are really truth, one can see the boys don’t know if the target is damaged or not, and the real distance for destroying is about 400 m, so it’s enough visible fact through the ordinary optical tools.
Wait, is it a smooth bore?
How can it be "sniper accurate" then?
