DJI Mavic 3 Quick Transfer - New Feature

- As part of the recent round of firmware updates for the DJI Mavic 3, one of the features that were announced alongside the DJI Mavic 3 "Quick Transfer" is now working. This new feature uses the WiFi-6 protocol allowing you to connect your mobile device directly to the drone without powering on the controller for super fast downloads. You can copy over the high-resolution files easily directly to your camera roll or gallery. One limitation however is you can only transfer files that are filmed in 4K or under, currently the 5K files the Mavic 3 is capable of recording are not supported. In this video, I show you how to use WiFi 6 QuickTransfer and provide a simple demonstration.

It was pointed out to me that DJI just updated the User manual to ver. 1.4 and it now states that quick transfers are not supported on the RC Pro. Very disappointing for a $1200 pro controller.
Extremely. I have an email chain I started when a chat with support told me they had to switch to email. That's 2 separate cases I have and the other one quoted the entire section (about phones and tablets) and stopped right at the line about RC Pro.

But the DJI website for the RC Pro clearly states as of today, "DJI RC Pro supports Wi-Fi 6 protocol to download photos and videos from the aircraft at speeds up to 80 MB/S".

Thanks for the quick transfer video update regarding the Mavic 3 Classic. Sorry to say your video arrived a bit too late as I pain stakenly experimented for 2 hours trying to get the system to work . Finally got it to work as you described in your video and it does work on an Android system. I too do all my work on an Android tablet. Keep up the good work.

Just One question though… are 4K video files chopped to 5 minutes 27 seconds each maximum, much like with the Mini 2 I’ve noticed, Or are they longer, OR are they as long as however long you’re filming in it for?

Indeed it’s quite a useful tool. The only limitation I found is that it cannot transfer the 5K files only 4K and below which is a little unusual I don’t know why that limitation is there

good video - do you have one or can you create one regarding use of media files on the RC pro, difference between the fly app and the phone app, and the options in the app and setup of memory card? DJI seems to be using different terminology across everything right now and different sharing options from the phone (RC pro) album and the fly app. It all gets a bit confusing - I usually just pull the SD card and edit on my laptop but would be great to get some clarity, and could refer others to it as well. keep up the great work.

@@AirPhotography Definitely, but as always depends on user feedback.... If the endusers don't use it as much or think there isn't so much fuss about it, it might just 'die' with the M3!
It's a nice feature but the A2S is already built... unless there was some forward thinking designer at DJI, this feature can't work out for the A2S. The only solution will be when DJI releases an A2S+; if the 'crowd' demand this feature and some others so badly... DJI over to you

That’s a pretty cool feature. As spring begins to approach I’m getting more and more tempted on the Mavic 3. But still on the fence.

I’m in the same boat… been watching and waiting. Hopefully they release another updated bundle that’s not the Cine with RC PRO… then I might budge. We’ll see. :)

Great feature, I'm glad they added it. And after watching your excellent tutorial and went to try it. and it didn't work. Everything looked good until I started the transfer, it would never start, and this was on my iPhone 13 Pro. So I went I got my older iPad Mini 5, and it worked perfectly. This a real head scratcher, LOL.
It doesn’t work on my iPhone 13 anymore either I think it has something to do with that 1.5.9 update. Because before that it was working on my iPhone

You have to put your phone in airplane mode and turn on wifi and Bluetooth.

Yes, works on Android devices (except RC PRO, grrrr.) Sean. It works on my Samsung Note 20 Ultra Note 10+ I haven't tried 5.1 k trasfers yet. As to RC Pro? I am really really angry. Yep... Manual has this killer statement.
⚠️ DJI RC Pro cannot support QuickTransfer. Wow. I was on support the last 2 days. They kept giving me phone and "mobile device" procedures. 1st line support doesn't know what the RC Pro is, lol.
So is it possible to take a SD card out of the Mavic three pro? Plug into a card reader and download to your phone like you always have been able to 3 different and you can’t do that?
I'm just testing this on an Android device, specifically a pixel 4A, and it is built into the app and I'm able to view and download photos as well as 4K footage. Trying to view the larger than 4K footage actually Black screens the app and restarts it. The play button is available on 5.1k footage, and it doesn't tell you that it can't play it. It's simply locks up and restarts. But otherwise, it seems to be working as advertised on Android

Indeed that is a known bug some people have to wait upwards of five minutes I can usually get a lock within about 2 to 3 minutes. Hopefully that something they can correct with firmware it’s not a hardware problem

I like the video. Seems very easy, but I just cannot get mine to connect. DJI was not better help spent 45 minutes on a call yesterday. I can transfer from drone to remote but quick transfer will not connect to iPad or iPhone.

Thanks this video was super helpful but the most I got was 5.57MB/s I downloaded 2 files they took forever and I'm using iPhone 12
Put it in airplane mode but leave wifi on.
I tried this on my ipad, no luck as M3 is bound to my RC Remote? I got some error like fly 5 times or unbind
I also have a iPad pro and I'm having problems. I have gone thru the steps one by one and it's not working. Deleted the app, did all the updates and nada. I know it must be something I missed or a setting I need to do/undo. Any ideas? Any help would be a gift. I haven't got a sd card yet. Is that the issue maybe?
A lot of times I get a High Interface environment so it tends to download at 1 - 2 MB/sec. When that happens I'll just connect the phone to the controller and download that way. It doesn't happen all the times.
Also is there a way to download the RAW pictures

Awesome video! How do we download the Globe animation ? When I transfer it, it only transfer the "panoramic" view, not the animation of the globe

There was an update to the fly app, it doesn’t add any new features per se but it does improve the camera settings and how you access them. I’m gonna be making a video about the update tomorrow
Super random question but, besides UA-cam, where else do you upload your High Res content? I myself like to record drone footage but I find it very frustrating that my videos are compressed on Facebook, Insta, or Twitter
Yeah that is a common problem. Those are pretty well the only places I upload to myself.
Great video! What does it mean to catche video? Should I have that on or off in the smart controller settings? Also should I record in mp4 or mov? I have all apple products and use the smart controller. Thank you in advance
I primarily use Apple products myself but I always keep my footage in MP4. Are you video cache Is a lower resolution file stored on the controller I believe it’s in 720 P. It can come in handy for a few reasons. Just to get a quick preview after you’re done filming or if something happens to the original Hi-Rez footage on the drone you still have a back up

I used my iPad 11 pro sometimes as a monitor while flying my M2p and P4V2 via Go 4 app but this iPad will not connect with the M3/fly app kinda disappointed, contacted Dji and they informed me it is not compatible 🥺
Hi.. nice video… any tips on if when I try to switch to quick transfer mode and it does not see my mavic 3? And it’s literally touching it… so I’m sure it’s within the 1m it suggest under help… I have turned off the drone, rebooted my iPad (pro) (newest version)…. I checked under WiFi to see if I was supposed to select it’s WiFi…I don’t see it there.. I updated the firmwear… thank you
You could try deleting the fly app and reinstalling it, see if that helps
This seems to work great on my iPad, my iPhone is a different story.. it freezes up every time… hmmm.
Ok quick question. I have a Mavic 3 pro Cine (with 1 Tb internal storage). I recorded numerous videos and took plenty of pictures. I did the same thing you did but all my files look like the bottom files at time 2:34. The background is black and looks like to have 2 gray mountains. What is that? Was I suppose to format the internal storage first. Can you even format the internal storage? Thank you in advance
Are you using iOS? There is a bug that sometimes you have to disable cellular if you are. Just swipe down into the control center and toggle off cellular and then re-launch the app. You might have to do a force restart. If you’re using android, I’m not really sure what to suggest. And indeed, you can format the internal memory, if you go to the settings there will be an option in there to format. I believe it’s under camera settings.
As always, very helpful and easy to understand content. What type and size micro card do you use for the drone and pro controller?
I have a 256 GB card in the Drone and a 128 in the controller

not all was included.. waypoints are still missing from the app.
Indeed, it’s a complete Drone now. This is how it should’ve been on release. It’ll be interesting to see what else I add to it in the next round of updates

I’ve never flown it myself but I know many people enjoyed it. You may want to consider something like the Mavic mini you can get them pretty cheap even secondhand

can the drone go into quick transfer on the ipad, if the remote is turned on ? (could be the reason why it would not work on the remote if its already connected )
Yes it can still go into quick transfer. Even if you have connected to something like the RC Pro. And you quick connect to an iPad it will disable the screen on the RC pro. You’ll just get a message saying that it is connected to another device or something along that line
your audio is always to low.. we turn up and get blasted by add and everything else :(

Yes that is very strange I don’t know why that limitation has been implemented, it doesn’t make sense. The only thing I can come up with is it’s an encoding thing
Is there a Glasses-like device that connects to the RC Pro so that I can directly see what the drone sees? The DJI FPV device for the head is heavy and ugly, because it has the antennae. The RC Pro has the antennae already, so the Glasses just need a video connection to the RC Pro.
Any goggles or glasses that have an HDMI in wood work But as mentioned most of them get to be pretty big and bulky
Thanks. I’ll keep watching for developments in that space. The ideal would be HDMI over Bluetooth (that doesn’t fry your brain).
That’s cool, but what if I don’t have WiFi out in the field and want to transfer via Bluetooth?
You don’t need Wi-Fi out in the field. The drone creates its own Wi-Fi connection so you’re still able to transfer. You don’t need Internet
So if you fly the mavic 3 with smart controller how do you get the pics onto your iPhone?
Just install the DJI Fly app onto your phone. Power on the Mavic3, launch the fly app on your phone and make sure it’s near the Drone and it will prompt you right away to connect via quick transfer. Then you can just transfer all your photos and videos over

For some odd reason I can’t seem to get the Mavic 3 to work with Quick Transfer. It goes into Quick Transfer mode but never downloads, as it stays at 0kbs. I forgot wifi network rebooted iPhone 13 Max and drone and both running latest firmware. Any suggestions?

@@AirPhotography the answer is that it seems to only work when the signal for the phone is off and only wifi is on. The forums found the issue. Does your quick transfer work with your phone signal on?

Isn’t working for me. When I connect my phone to the drone, the thumbnails don’t even load. It’s just a black background with white play button, which doesn’t show anything but a black screen when pressed.
When I press download it says it’s downloading but it actually isn’t, the speed says 0/kb’s. I cannot even begin to explain how frustrating this is.

Good question in theory it should do both. I haven’t tried any rough photos yet. But I don’t see why it wouldn’t

It is not working at mine, could not connect to network and after a while it says switching failed.
Yeah I’ve been getting a lot of messages that people have been getting errors. Not sure what to suggest except maybe delete the app and reinstall it and see if that helps

Hello, great video thnk u! I am trying to connect mine ( I have an Ipad mini 2021 like urs in the video and I tried also with my iphone 12promax with the same error message) but I cant! In 2.05'' you said something for the 1st you connect the drone, what is this? I tried several times but I am always got the same message ' switching failed , aircraft has already connect with another mobile device , restart aircraft and try again'! Nothing change after restarting the aircraft , unistall, reinstall app , put ipad to airplane mode etc. I think I tried everything (?) any ideas to solve this ...? thnnx !
Yeah that is very strange I’m not really quite sure what to say. I know it is susceptible to interference, it states not to use near Bluetooth speakers and other similar devices. May be trying a different area of your house to see if it’s an interference thing.

Unfortunately, this feature is not working for me. I get a message saying that the files are corrupted. Any help? I am thinking about deleting the app and downloading it all over again.
I’ve seen a few comments people mentioning that they’re having issues with it. I’m not really sure what to say do you only thing I can suggest is perhaps using the DJI assistant app do a refresh of the firmware and see if that helps fix the problem
Question, when I do it with my iPad Pro, it works flawlessly. But when I try with my iPhone 12 Pro. It always stays at 0/kbs. And never moves or downloads. Already reset my network settings, everything updated, and tried another iPhone, same thing as well, have you tried it on an iPhone and see if it works? Thanks
I have tried on an iPhone 13 and it works perfectly. I'll test on an iPhone 12 tomorrow and see if I have any problems

DJ just recently updated their user manual to version 1.4 and apparently it states in there that the RC pro is not compatible with a Quick transfer. This is pretty disappointing considering the cost of the RC pro

@@robertbondar6640 DJI was recently sanctioned by the US Commerce Department. GPS is Air Force- managed so Federal enforcement could be at play here.

No, with android, you have to download it directly from the Dji website
Absolutely rubbish for android and I got an up to date Samsung s21 note it just says high interference environment download speed unstable I think the most I got was 2mb/s took 10 minutes to download a 2 minute file this would just rinse the battery in no time so very disappointing hope they can resolve this 😒🇬🇧
