I have stage four ovarian cancer. It would be nice if at the end of this video, they would have mentioned that Anne passed away in January 2024. I think when they fail to mention this, it makes the whole thing misleading. Anne wasn’t misleading, she was sincere and she believed with all her heart she was gonna beat this horrible disease. RIP sweet lady.

Same thing happened to my mom. She went to the Mayo Clinic (12/95) complaining of severe back pain. They told her it was "all in her head", told her to take OTC pain relievers, and sent her home. Then on 08/27/98, she was diagnosed with large cell carcinoma from head to toe. Without radiation & chemo, they gave her 4 months at best to live. So she put herself through months of radiation (to her brain) and chemotherapy and died on 08/12/99 at the age of 65. It bought her just shy of a year...of misery. She knew something was seriously wrong, but the doctors did not listen to her, and she clearly did not advocate hard enough for herself. It's sad because she had a LOT of plans & a LOT MORE living to do!
Thank you for making this video, for sharing your story, and for encouraging people to speak up, to be persistent, and to be heard! It could mean the difference between living or dying!!! God bless you and you are in my prayers!!!🙏🏼🙏🏼

A lot of times I wonder what kind of grades my doctors earned in medical school.
They are taught 'standard of care'. More focus should be on "do no harm".
(I imagine a lot of doctors are busy-as we all are- with work demands, family and finances. The more patients they can schedule and see, the more that adds to their ability to pay off student loans, cars, homes, kids, vacations, etc. )

I had a friend who had a spot on her lung for three years. Her doctor chose to follow it to see if the spot changed in size. She was a non-smoker. No one in her family smoked. She did have a family history of various cancers. She got sick with a persistent cough that wouldn't go away. Another x-ray showed fluid in her lung, which led to a stage 4 cancer dianosis. Inoperable. She died within a year. The fact that the doctor knew the "spot" was there for all those years and didn't do further testing was mind-blowing. It was maddening and devastating to know she could have had a better outcome if treated sooner.

I am so glad you spoke about quality of life being personal. I am an RN that worked in a LTC. We had a resident that was placed with us due to paranoid schizophrenia. He was pretty stable. He was a smoker. He started having lung problems after COVID. They took his smoking privileges away. He would ask all day to go smoke. He was placed on hospice and still asked to smoke. I advocated for him to be able to smoke. I know it seems strange. I remember the meeting we had with all the management and I said he should be able to smoke and everyone balked. I told them that this gentleman had nothing to enjoy. He didn't watch television, he had no friends, he had a guardian. The only thing he looked forward to was to go out and smoke. I told them no one can tell you what makes your life worth living, I don't get to decide that for them, they don't get to decide that for me, and we shouldn't be deciding that for this patient.

My brother died of stomach cancer in 2002. He was aged 38. Because he was relatively young he was constantly dismissed by various doctors. Finally, and out of sheer desperation and exhaustion he phone called cold a surgeon he had been recommended. He saw the surgeon the next day, and upon having something as routine as an endoscopy, a tumor was discovered, the size of a grapefruit. Stage 4. He was given' a small number of months'. He died almost three months to the day of the prognosis. My parents died grief stricken. Grief over their loss and what could have been but for the negligence.

If you lived in this area you’d be scrambling to find *any* healthcare professional who could see you in maybe a few months-and that’s with “good insurance.” Same with dentists and veterinarians. Even with incentives for healthcare people like NPs, RNPs, MDs etc., attracting and retaining professionals is extremely difficult. To get to large regional hospitals it takes hours, mostly on two lane roads that may be experiencing whiteouts regularly in the winter.
Stay in Michigan, my friend unless you want to bring your expertise here or to any other remote, underserved area. You would be cause for a community celebration!

This was followed by a biopsy that confirmed it. Within days of my biopsy I saw my doctor again. It was lung cancer. A little over 2 weeks later , I’m scheduled for surgery where the upper lobe of my right lung will be removed. I’m scared but optimistic.
I thank my family doctor and the specialist for their great care.

Look into soy. My husband had Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma 20 years ago. The common denominator is that he had been drinking soy smoothies for over a year before this. Jenny was a vegan. All the “fake” meat and “fake” cheese, etc is made from soy and the soybean was changed to a GMO. Along with her having the gene, I believe soy is causing vegans to get cancer. I also know a few other UA-camrs who got cancer and are vegans.

For sure and govt restrictions. I have had the full effects fromPSA since a teen but it wasn’t until I diagnosed it during lockdown that they agree and I am in too much agony despite biologics. I was a tns- trauma nurse specialist and I do what I can everyday but over the years have been treated in the worst ways imaginable. It affected my heart, mind, vessels and is consuming my joints but God forbid anyone from allowing me the dose that helped me for my pain. Wasn’t my Dr’s desire, they know how sick I am but rheumatologist wants to put people who are not depressed on meds that will cause even more problems because many just don’t look up side effects and the pts chart. I am considering just stopping everything because I am in too much agony and have seen doctors since I was 20 and I am 54 and disabled. I enjoyed working and I tutored A &P, chem , physiology, physics and helped physicians with their boards. My BP goes into the 300s because I don’t have enough ability to control it. All I can say is that I know that humans will have a huge intervention coming, one that is needed on a worldwide scale, and it will end our crisis. Take care!😊

Thank you for being open minded! When in labor with my son, the nurses called my OB and told him I was ready. He brushed them off and said it was my first baby and I’d be pushing for a long time so he took his sweet time. My mom, also a nurse, requested they call him again. She was fuming. My son’s heart rate was decelerating with every contraction. I laid on my side and waited for an hour because I knew something was wrong and didn’t trust the resident to deliver my baby. My doctor finally arrived, I pushed 3 times, and in 15 minutes my 10 pound, 23-1/2 inch son was born with the cord wrapped twice around his neck. My doctor is lucky he survived. My point is, doctors need to stop putting patients in a box. Everyone is different!
Thankfully my current NP is also listening to me and ordered a chest CT for my recent persistent wheezing cough and chest pressure. I’m a nonsmoker and don’t have asthma.

We're both having bad pains throughout our body and getting the run around from insurance. I keep telling her please just pay it out of pocket, get the MRI, don't let some high 3 digit cost stand in the way of getting answers but she is too stubborn. Thank you for you experience. I have been a nurse for many years and experienced severe pain for over 28 years, no help for diagnosis. During lockdown I got the final puzzle piece when I got severe uveitis. I have very different PSA, Lyme’s with fibromyalgia and my joints lock up and I was told to go home while having an MI and hadn’t slept literally over a week and a half so I was in a cytokine storm and likewise stroked. Being a nurse affects some doctors and it should not but because of having been belittled for so many years and not getting help my joints are all bad and there isn’t a way anymore with all of the spondylosis, spurs etc. I have some little internal masses on my lungs and kidneys but don’t qualify anymore for major surgery. I am glad that someone listened to you and I was relieved when listening for you. I certainly try always to keep in mind that so many suffer and the appearance of suffering can trick us due to perhaps maybe they have had it so long and therefore are told that they look great. I was always told why didn’t I exercise more even after dropping 70 lbs in one month and my therapist didn’t think I could make it. Long term pain like PSA is considered just as painful as bone cancer yet those who have severe form like me who don’t want to be in bed are limited by governmental rules and not physicians. My doctors fought and I have no recourse other than to hope I go fast. If it had another name I would be treated differently. I always think of the patients that I treated as a trauma nurse specialist and keep my heart set on the future without these terrible infirmities. Take care😊

They said they’re not in the business of removing healthy organs from people, I said take those organs out now. They did. We all have our own way of handling things.

Look at Jenny Apple lung cancer journey, how docs kept dismissing her symptoms for 1 year, she had to beg n cry for a chest scan and when finally had it done she was stage 3 non smoking lung cancer. Unfortunately she died last year at 36, young mother of 2 children. So sad for her. Darn if i started having bad symptoms i would advocate strongly for myself to get scanned. Even if i had to say lung cancer ran in my family so I would maybe be taken more seriously.

It's so frustrating when a patient has to demand tests because health providers choose not to for whatever reason. I had to fight for years to get 3 tests, with one being fairly rare, to get any answers. Mine was not a cancer situation, but it took me 13 1/2 years to finally get my 2 diagnosis. Best wishes to you, Anne, and your daughter as well. You will be in my thoughts.

My mom was so weak and sick that she lost consciousness when she was taken, by ambulance, to the ER. They did scans and found a spiculated lesion in her lung. They told her, based on the appearance, that she had cancer. She was also found to be extremely anemic. They did a biopsy that came back clean, and told her she didn't have cancer and that they would monitor the lesion. We all felt very uneasy about it since they first told her it was cancer based on the appearance of the lesion, but this was during the pandemic and they were far too dismissive. They gave false reassurance, gave her an iron infusion to help her feel better, and ushered her out of the hospital. A year later they did a follow up scan, and surprise surprise, not only did she have lung cancer, but it had spread to another lobe, as well as lymph nodes. She has since had lobectomy, IV chemo, immunotherapy, radiation, and now oral maintenance chemo. The cancer has spread to her adrenal glands, and new lymph nodes, but is stable for the time being. It's been 3 1/2 years since the original retracted diagnosis. She just got out of the hospital with an extremely scary bout with pneumonia. She has been amazingly strong through this whole journey. Though it changes nothing, I find it hard not to think what a difference it could have made if the doctors had done the right thing, and gone in for a second biopsy. Maybe she could have had that lobe removed when it was stage one, and she could have gone on to live a full healthy life.

I have a friend with advanced metastatic cancer who was given 1 year to live with treatment. He is now six years out and, to his oncologist’s surprise, apparently cancer free. What the oncologist doesn’t know is that my friend started taking Fenbendazole, a canine dewormer, that has demonstrated anti-cancer effects. It is cheap and OTC. If I had cancer, I would certainly try it.

Recently MRI & then PET scan revealed tiny nodules in the center of my chest. I am told they are quite possibly benign, however, since they are so small, I need to wait another 3 months to see if there is any other activity. I’m scheduled for a CT of the chest & If there is growth, then biopsy would be considered. I can’t thank you enough. I relate to you SO much. You are truly inspiring! ❤

I've had to pay out of pocket for expensive labs & tests when Blue Cross insurance denied them as "not medically necessary". Drs. lean toward "watchful waiting" or referring to other specialist Drs who are booked up for months in their schedules. Time cannot be wasted & gut feelings that something is wrong cannot be ignored. The US medical system is broken so be your own advocate. Very sad to hear her cancer battle struggle. Quality of life & pain free is all that matters in life. Let her story be a teachable lesson & dont think its not going to happen to you or a loved one because cancer touches everyone sooner or later.

I am 76 year old woman who was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer 14 months ago. Fortunately my cancer was discovered in a chest exray after complaining about upper back pain. I had no other symptoms except an Increasing shortness of breath that I put off as being old and out of shape. The tumor in my upper right lobe was seen 2 years before and explained as possible radiation scarring from 16 year prior breast radiation for a small breast cancer tumor. I can understand the frustration with getting the medical community to sit up and take notice. I am a former smoker, 1/2 pack a day quit 35 years ago.
