I'm going to try your sponge cake. The sponge cake looked awesome. I saw a recipe from Steph De Souza she made a Banana Cake with 5 banana's, I can condensed milk, 2 c SR flour and large tsp cinnamon. I haven't made it yet was wandering how it would turn out
Thanks! I haven't heard of a Banana Cake done like that before and it sounds yummy, don't see why it wouldn't work - would be interested to know how that comes out!
Thank you Sarah 🙂 this is wonderful 😀. My husband loves sponge with cream and lemon curd so this will be great, will add some salt and vanilla for that though. I think i should make a trifle now 😂 be rude not to ❤
Crack up on the milk sponge. Glad you can laugh, at 66 these things happen more frequently, you learn to laugh, or as you say you will cry. 🤣😂🤣 Great recipe and $ saving tip. Merry Christmas Sarah.
So we didn’t have a trifle on Christmas Day and no1 son said he missed it, so as we are having a bbq New years Eve, I decided to make it for him. We were at the store and a slab of sponge was $6.50. I ummed and ahhhhhhh’d and thought of you and decided, nope. Gonna make Sarah’s sponge. 4 of the hens eggs, one cup of sugar, one cup of flour 🤣, 2 tsp of my own vanilla and a pinch of salt as was suggested by some one and I’m old school. All recipes have a pinch of salt. Popped the mixture in a baking paper lined silicon sponge tray and wallah, into the wood oven after the school fund raising croissants came out. Trifle we will be having, thank you Sarah.
@@CheaperWaysNZ oh, don’t worry, they are just the frozen ready made, raw ones the schools sell as fund raisers. Remove them from the freezer before you go to bed and pop on the baking tray. In the morning bake them. 😚
@@CheaperWaysNZ haha! I checked what they did in the Edmonds book and they all had baking powder. So I used self raising. It's fine, just a tad misshapen. Nobody will see that after it's chopped up and in the trifle 😂
To ramp up flavour a pinch of salt and a tsp vanilla 😊
Oh yeah definitely! I think it probably needs that if it's being eaten as a cake on it's own as opposed to a trifle base etc 👍
Perfect! Thank you for sharing (I might do a trifle too now if we can find some eggs!)
Awesome! 😊
This will come handy!. Thank you for sharing.Merry Xmas to you and your Family and thank you for passed years hard work! Cheers
Thanks so much - Merry Christmas to you too 😀

@@CheaperWaysNZ I'm going to be trying over xmas
I make it all the time 😊 it's really nice but very sweet, it's a heavier type of cake 😊 can be done in a slow cooker as well ❤
Happy Christmas to you ,from North Devon England
Thanks, Merry Christmas to you too!!

Ohhh I love lemon curd, that sounds like a yummy combo!!
@@CheaperWaysNZ lemon curds the best, it never seems to last to long here 😂

haha awesome stuff! On a side note I've never been brave enough to try making croissants myself 😀

That's so easy mate..except remembering the one cuppa sugar 😂😂😂😂😂❤
The truly sad part is I even mixed up some powdered milk as I'd run out ... so even went to trouble to add the milk 😂
Is this plain flour, or self raising?
My eggs are beating and I just realised I wasnt sure 😂
Hey hopefully you've sorted it lol - but this is just plain flour 🙂

@@CheaperWaysNZif plain flour do you put in baking powder please?
@@siafaau7565 no it's just the flour, eggs and sugar :)
