Thanks for the question RealRuler, it was really a good one!! I appreciate you Mrs. B and J for the research you've done on this topic!! I think I'll not clean my coins at all, seems safer for the value of coin grading, if its professionally cleaned!! Thanks for the insight, have a great day!! :)

If you clean any coin please remember to use eye protection as well. Great video and a very good point.

Thanks a bunch for this. I do have silver coins w/these so,.... debate what the spots have done to grade vs. restoration. I’ll go back to PCGS- try to learn if restoration will be able to guarantee the coins maintain original grading or not (probably case by case basis). I live in high humidity region, so found it fascinating that humidity alone is most likely not the sole cause of these. I also suggest collectors in humid areas keep dehumidifier in coin safe or invest in safe w/built in dehumidifier where needed.

For me as always a very informative video. Why are there two thumbs down. What the heck. This information is priceless for people that just don't know or are just unsure. 👍👍

Trolls aren't tolerated on the live streams & rapidly gotten rid of - my guess is that the dislikes are from them.

Great video. Thanks for all the info. I was taught one never cleans a coin no matter what. I understand that bullion is different but I don't think I'll ever clean those either. Just been engrained in my mind that's a no no.

I have 3 1964 proof kennedy accented hair coins all have milk spot on them do you recommend trying to remove. 2 of them could grade really high. I'm torn here. Maybe I should try on the worst one first. Any suggestions?

I will have to look at all of mine. Most if not all are in capsules. Thanks for the interesting video and to the person who asked if you would do this video. All the Best ~ Shirl

PCGS clearly has a different method beside acidtone if they can remove milk spots with out the coin being called Cleaned.
Any idea as to what that could be?

Does cleaning milk spots off of silver bullion affect the value in any way like cleaning coins does? (I understand that cleaning coins affects NUMISMATIC value).

  • @PandaFPV
    @PandaFPV 2 роки тому

But you said PCGS can remove them. That means there’s a proper way of cleaning them. So what process do THEY use that makes it justifiably “not cleaned?”

Acetone does not work. I use pure acetone on my junk silver rounds and it does nothing to remove the milk spotting.

RCM instituted new "mint shield" technology in 2018 that has drastically reduced, perhaps even almost eliminated milk spotting on their new coins since. I wish they'd at least share it with the British royal mint and/or the US would take a page out of their book.

I'm considering resto services on my 64 proof Kennedy Accented Hair, light milk spots; want it graded afterwards. Thoughts? NGC member.

2018 and later maple leafs have anti Milk spot technology plus radial lines and the tiny maple leaf with the year in it. So I guess for new coins milk spots are not an issue

I have a 2019 W American eagle palladium coin can they develop small black carbon dots. I have one in a slab already graded at 70.. on Palladium I also have it vacuumed sealed, well that stop that from getting darker or will it continue to grow? Like to know if it's worth sending it back or keeping it...

If you stack silver it’s just inevitably going to happen to many of your coins. Just use a jewellery cloth on them just before you plan on selling them, otherwise don’t worry.

I think the milk spot on that Eagle is neat in an odd way, like Lady Liberty is walking through a thunderstorm.

Acetone stops the milk spots from developing from detergent or pvc = polyvinyl chloride a plastic softner in most plastics but it does not take milk spots off coins
