      Ann Fitzgerald my gosh. Even hobby-riders ride with bits, and dressage is something that horses are able to do, it also keeps them trained. 🙄 This video shows a beautiful way of owning horses!

      Turning out is generally normal where I'm from in Australia... you see horses in paddocks on every horsey property. Is this not normal elsewhere?

      Kate Shearman I am not sure with high levels of riding such as his barn. But the smaller show barns (kids, teens, etc.), the horses are only allowed out for a few hours, and then they are lunges to burn off excess energy. And a lot of them have miserable personalities. Mind you, that’s not every barn, but that was my experience working at them.

Grazing in a green grassy field is a horse’s favorite thing to do. And to deprive them of that is terrible. I love also how you have a place for work and a place for rest and pleasure. It has to be psychologically emotionally great for the horses These fantastic animals as you said are our partners and friends not our slaves and to keep them constantly locked up in little stalls is like a jail cell. . Thank you for taking such good care of your animals and treating horses the way they were meant to be treated

      @julieenslow5915 5 років тому +7

      The birds are not as loud or flighty as you might find among spectators at an event. maybe you need a few birds around your horses to condition them? It does seem to work for Carl! At the least - it does not hurt. But then - his horses see birds all the time, I have no idea how one would introduce them to horses who were spooky to birds.

    • @treelore5100
      @treelore5100 5 років тому +4

      The nice thing about that is they will get over that and no longer spook at birds! I was riding my guy the other day and trotting along and suddenly we were trotting though a flock of wild turkeys. He sees them all the time, it was me that was a bit startled. :-)
