Thanks! There is something about the points not being permanent, like in normal 3D software. Are these lines 'base lines' yet to be determined. When I go to grab points on this line at the garment - they are not there - until I do an extend to trim. Then when I go to elect the points I have a pop up box to select the internal line or the garment. Its just confusing!
The extend/trim to pattern outline option is basically just making sure you actually drew it all the way to the pattern edge. For some reason, it can be actually a bit tricky to click on the pattern edge (this is a constant frustration of mine). It's like it wants to snap to a point off the edge for me. So this option is just a safety measure to be sure it actually extends all the way through, if you do want to cut it apart as a separate pattern. The other thing you're talking about, with the drop down menu, is just when you're clicking on 2 points that sit on top of each other. Like if your pattern outline has a segment point and then your internal line sits on top of it. The software just needs you to clarify which point you're trying to select. But when you talk about it not actually being there...I just want to clarify that you're using the correct tools. Because Base Lines are different than Internal lines and there are separate tools for creating base line markings. Make sure you're using the Internal Polygon/Line and that your markings are in red, not blue/purple. (Hotkey G) You're not wrong, there's a bit of clunkiness sometimes, but you get used to how it works, I promise!
I hope there is reasoning behind the madness... its just coming from a 3d background, I expect to use a tool to cut across the cloth, but there seems to be layered things going on. I cut with the internal line tool (G), then I expect to find points to manipulate the shape, and they are not there. So is my mindset wrong, do I first need to lay out marking lines, then these are just 'guides', I then decide to use these guides to cut or something like that?@@ides.studio
