    Been using a Hungry Bin for years. Very convenient as you don't have to migrate the worms away from the castings as in a typical bin. You'll love this thing. I have to run a rope around the latches to keep them secured, but it is no big deal at all!!

    I’m using oyas for the first time this season and they are greattt! Also, i just set up a couple worms bins too and I’ve learned that freezing the food scraps prior to feeding the worms helps break down quicker as well and provide moisture. Good luck with the hungry bin!

    I bought a worm farm several years ago and used it for the best part of a year, then went on holiday and gave it a good drink of water before leaving home, but when I came home, the worms were all dead. The very hot weather when we were away from home killed all the worms

    I thought about it when I was bored and couldn't go to work because of the Rona but if i would have been sick earlier I might have done it but It wasnt soon enough to use it to seed start so I guess I've tabled it.

      Ive killed the worms twice lol But I did get a good amount of castings. My problem was summer. It got to hot and killed my worms. I need to locate it in a better area that gets more shade. I was planning on resetting it up in the spring. 3rd time is the charm, right? lol

      @@itsbreellis I am thinking I am going to set one up, but have it in my basement. I think the weather is just too extreme in Kansas.
      I was explaining to my husband what a learning curve there is to what I am wanting to accomplish (urban homesteading). Each year gets better and better with what we’ve learned from prior years. Wishing you a very successful growing year!🌻💕

    Did you use roofing tin for beds or were they a kit. Look forward to see worms grow bigger.

    • @itsbreellis
      @itsbreellis  2 роки тому +1

      It’s a kit I buy off amazon! They average $75-$100 depending on time of the year! They dipped to $65 last September! I have a direct link to them in the description! Galvanized steel garden bed!

    Drill extra holes in that commercial thing ! It's not ideal for the worms.

    Who says the castings are on the bottom?

    • @itsbreellis
      @itsbreellis  2 роки тому +1

      They castings will flow to the bottom because they are heavier and since the worms like a free flowing space they will stay more at the top of the bin! There’s a container that will fill up that you unclip with the castings once it fills!
