If you are invited to a garden party and want to bring a salad, you will usually bring a salad made according to usual kitchen rules from untreated raw products and not ready-made boxes with preserved mayonnaise products.
And less conservative people in Germany would think of a classic garden salad or Italian/Greek salad in the first hand. In academic context nowadays it is uncommon to bring anything containing meat to a party. Also, mayonnaise is getting less popular because even Germans figured out that a Mediterranean diet is much healthier. But it still is true that in a more conservative, lesser educated and more rural context those stereotypes still reflect reality.

Vor mittlerweile 40 Jahren habe ich ,zusammen mit jungen amerikanischen Soldaten , in einer Kaserne, in Norddeutschland gedient. Die waren im Schnitt 20 Jahre alt und das erste mal im Ausland. Auf einer Party gab es deutsches Bier und die Jungs sind an unserem Kronkorken verzweifelt,weil ,das gibt es auch in Amerika,aber als Drehverschluss. Am ende des Abends war mein Feuerzeug durch und ich ihr Held. 😅😅

BTW we say Mahlzeit already in the morning when people are late for work and we want to annoy them and remind them that they are too late and it’s nearly noon. Even a quarter past 8 am 😂
And we don't just use Mahlzeit at work, but everywhere between 11:00 and 13:00 when we have to talk to others. Instead of Grüß Gott or hello, we say Mahlzeit. Even in the pharmacy or at the doctor's. At least here in the wild southwest of Germany.
To drive on bicycle on the boardwalk is just dangerous, as a user of the boardwalk by feet u wont run into a bicyclist if u leave ur house so its understandable that the people remind u to follow the rules of because a bicycleist belongs to a cycleway or simply the street. When your colleagues really like you, they may give you a birthday present, but they will not invite you. Invitation, by the way, is a word that US Americans seem to not understand. They might invite you for dinner and go to a restaurant and expect that you pay your own food... 😕 If a German invites you, the German pays.
I wonder if you might be the one who did not understand. Americans do not make you pay for your own meal - the whole of the bill plus obligatory tip is divided evenly between the participants. Unless someone says it is their treat (which then means they treat you, not you have to cover them). You do not pay just for yourself, letting the bill be split up by the waiter so that everybody pays for their own dish and drinks is too time consuming. And that means, it takes longer to get the next paying customer to a table, and the turnover is very important to American restaurants.

3:25 It might surprise you that opening "all" windows (or at least two to produce an airstream) for a few seconds is actually the most energy efficient/saving method to air the room - in contrast to open up one window just a little bit but for a longer amount of time. You want the CO2 go away and O2 go in without cooling the house (i.e. the walls etc.) down. As long as the walls keep warm, that tiny bit of energy that was actually in the air is neglectible.
I think ventilation is a must in Germany because, firstly, our houses are extremely well insulated and the windows and doors close really tightly. Secondly, we don't have AC to ensure air exchange. So if you don't ventilate, the oxygen in the house is used up quite quickly. In addition, moisture starts to condense on windows and walls and then mold forms. That's why it's a must in many rental contracts. I personally have to either close the door and open the window to sleep or, if it's very hot or very cold outside, the other way round, close the window and open the door to the rest of the house because otherwise I feel like I'm suffocating in my sleep. That's probably nonsense, but that's the way it is

The most part of heat is not in the air, its in the Matter all in the Apartment. Means if you open the windows very short you replace 100% of the air but loose only a bit of the energy

Impact air makes especially in winter time sense. You open the windows for about 5-10 minutes and replace the old air with fresh air. And then you close the windows again. This way you loose way less heat in your home as if you open just one window just a bit. But you also have to take in consideration that nearly all homes in Germany are especially isolated and build out of stone and concrete. Modern homes are nearly airtight so they often have(need) an electronic ventilation system. These electronic ventilation systems have also integrated air change and heat recovery systems. The old air is pumped through some kind of radiator to recycle the heat and use it again to heat the house.
What's more, cold air is dryer than warm air, because there's not much water vapor in it, so by that air exchange in winter, you also reduce moisture and thus prevent mold from growing on your walls. That's especially important in older buildings. I have no experience with these modern homes and all their sophisticated ventilation systems, but I think I wouldn't like one because these sure need regular expensive inspection and maintenance, which a window definitely doesn't.
Fertigsalate sind nicht typisch Deutsch, wir haben eine Jahrtausende alte Ess/Koch Kultur. At home, there is not a problem with "Lüften" for me, but at work it is. I work as portier at a big, old place in Vienna. Everyone wants to open the windows in the seminar rooms - but unless they have a professor with them, they always forget to close the outer windows (there are inner and outer windows). Then comes some rain and a storm and many windows are destroyed. Old windows, very expennsive to replace. It drives me nuts, because it is a part of my job to watch out for this.

I travel to Germany often. So the bottle opener being literally anything is like a little party trick at home. They place a bottle in front of me and when they go grab their opener, I open the bottle with whatever I can find. The reactions are always quite funny
As a German, I refer to the German virtue of being prepared, which means that I of course have a bottle opener on my key ring and therefore don't have to rely on other tools. But that doesn't mean I couldn't open a beer bottle with any other object 😉
I have carried a bottle opener on my key ring for the last few months, it's just a waste of space to me, I barely use it, because I always got a lighter on me. And even then you always got other bottles, your teeth or any sharp edge to open your beer.

Since cold air is more dense and therefore has (insignificantly) more mass per volume, you would need more energy to heat it, than to cool the same volume of air.
They are wrong about Mahlzeit only being used in the Office. In the early 90s there was this Movie "kleines Arschloch" the Protagonist always entered a room saying Mahlzeit! Church, school, doctors Office. It popularized it as a General greeting. So yes, German can greet everyone every where like that. It's Just not as common as saying it during meal Times. Also i like how in Germany you have to bake cake for your birthday. It means you're getting cake for everyone elses birthday instead of being expected to bring it.
Also be aware that "Mahlzeit!" as a greeting is informal with a working-class vibe. While it's not rude, it would sound weird in more formal situations.
For your understanding: When you do Stoßlüften -even in the Winter, you don't loose that much heat, because if you're heating -the walls heat up (because they aren't made out of wood they can save more :) ) And since Stoßlüften is really just a few minutes, the warmth comes back pretty quick as soon as the windows are closed again👌🏼
yeah, we got about 10 windows in our flat, opening each for only 5 minutes takes you nearly one hour to complete the first airing - 4 times a day you work 3 and a half hours just at the windows, that is a full day each week!

The reason for the Lüften is very easy to explain. Our modern Low Energy Houses are so dense, that there is No airflow between inside and Outside. So you have to "Lüften", otherwise the old CO2 high and humidity Air will stay in the House. Humidity in particular can then lead to mold. Therefore many contracts have special parts for the "Lüften". Because mold is one of the biggest problems in the new dense Low Energy Houses. Of cause a britain does not know it. Their Houses are so dense like a barn from early years of 1300.

Mahlkeit or Ciao, Tschüß etc. we don't use that in northen Germany. "Moin" is enough. Salat without Mayonnaise prepared is normal, even in Aldi or Lidl you can by it.

well, there's also use for bottle openers - and they were often used in germany, "but": mostly in the household, but not outside. outside you don't normally have always a bottle opener (well, i do, but i don't have always my keys in my near - and then, people using that one wrong, 'cause they don't look at it and see that's disigned differently), so, there's literally "everything" used what could hemp open bottles... Knifes, forks, spoons, lighters, folding rulers, a beer crate, other beer bottles... and that's just a "tiny bit" what could be used.
At 10:00 they're showing something typical German without even mentioning it: Those glass bowls! Every German household has them. Nobody bought them (ever!), they are just there... I don't even know where to buy them, never seen them in a shop... They are not meant to be bought or sold, those bowls are some kind of cosmic entity. And even if you break them (if that's even possible, I never tryed), they just somehow reappear. If some German would be mad enough to weaponize those bowls, every enemy would get shred by broken glass and we would NEVER run out of ammo. Fortunately we didn't have (or at least didn't use) them "back then". Imagine a Tiger II with a 360mm glass bowl cannon. I tell you: Those bowls...they are everywhere. And they are forever. Take em, smash em, grab a new one, repeat. And mankind will drown in a flood of shards...
That compliment-thing, we are quit the opposite of some us-americans, who tends to exaggerate. For example, if something is quite ok or just interesting, I almost always hear from american tourists words like awesome, amazing, unbelievable, I'm shocked or something like that. But after all, I have to admit we could just tell how is it, if something is really good instead to understate things with sayings like "not bad".

But, there can be times with very cold or hot weather over a couple of weeks in a row. So, all germans aim to have a home as insulated as possible!!! (helps saving money for heating too). Your colleagues see themselves like kinda part time friends(?), so they expect you to invite them and bring a cake. If you, by any chance, happen to work in a true friends envirionment, they WILL bring you a present! But, let's be honest... They are cormorants!!! They just see the opportunity to grab some free cake! ;o) Let's face it: you don't mess with a huge crowd of vultures, do you? the birthday cake situation is kind of a neat way to avoid the buzz and hustle of a birthday at the workplace. Either bring a cake and thus signal that you wish to celebrate to an extend or, don't and get away with a mostly normal day
I am a German. And I love it to be a German. I think I am a typical German. But it is not "forbidden" to open a bottle with a bottle opener. Nobody is iritated when you use a bottle opener.
When it's someone's birthday, there are the following options: 1. Office jobs = The "birthday child" brings cake. Reason: most people rarely invite their colleagues home for a party. 2. Skilled trades: There are two options here: 1. The birthday child buys breakfast for the colleagues, then everyone eats breakfast together. 2. The birthday child brings a case of beer. Most people don't care if there's a colleague there who doesn't drink beer. If you're lucky, you'll be asked if you'd like to drink something else. In many industries, it's also common to do the same when you go on vacation.
The saying "MAHLZEIT" has a whole different origin! It comes from the work in mines. It's a term in mining. So when they came up the mining shaft at the end of shift or for lunch breaks you'd greet your comrades with "Mahlzeit". It's a blessing one shift gave the other shift when they changed shift. I don't want to say every other explanation is wrong. But it had a whole different meaning. The word "MAHLZEIT" carries the comradery, respect, brotherhood, sweat and tears and even death of the brave man in mining.
There is a book "10.000 Möglichkeiten, eine Flasche Bier zu öffnen". I know at least 10.001 ways to open a beer. If you know how it works, you can use nearly anything, it´s even possible with sheet of paper!

In Germany, most houses are made of stone. Modern windows are often installed, but the facade is not insulated. This means that the coldest surface in the room is the outside wall, usually in a corner. In the bedroom in particular, the humidity can reach up to 80% at night due to breathing and sweating. The humidity can condense on the cold wall and cause mold. So the moist air has to get out. The best way to do this is to open the windows wide on two sides of the apartment for a few minutes. Even in winter, you only lose a little heat because the floor, ceiling and walls cannot cool down so quickly. If you close the window again after 5 minutes, the apartment will be warm again within a few seconds. Many people make the mistake of leaving windows in the tilt position all day, with the window only slightly open. But this is counterproductive. Firstly, there is hardly any air exchange, so the moisture remains. Secondly, the floors, ceiling and walls cool down. This causes the mold to grow even more and requires even more heating energy.
If you dont take care of the air circulation it might cause mold. This is why its so important. But I dont know why it is such a problem here in Germany. I lived in a place with mold problems and all I could do is to move out.

Traffic rules are not necessarily the case everywhere and at all times, at least in our city it has long been common practice for cyclists and pedestrians to be allowed to use the same paths. And red pedestrian lights are often ignored when there is no traffic, unless there are children in sight.
The problem is driving on the wrong side, not that she used the path for people. You have to use the right side. Except if there is a path for bikes on one side that has a lane for both ways. But if the sidewalk is wide enough many people use it with their bikes too. But it's not allowed if u wanna be correct. But normally it isn't a big problem if there is enough space and you don't ride to fast.

I have another idea of a typical german thing: Knitting in public life. That has to do a bit with "how to behave" in public or in public transportation - trains or busses. Normally germans don't communticate in public. Using cellphones in a bus seems to be disturbing. And even make contakt in a train to other persons is - sometimes nice - but normally uncommon. And you can show that: Reading a book means: You don't want to talk. When i use public transport, that's "spare time" for me - so i read books or i'm knitting socks or hooking something. For me, that signals: I'm doing something. I'm occupied. I don't want to communicate. But often the signal is the opposite: Others want to speak with you! Worst case was a person from eastern germany, saying: "Bei uns wärst Du jetzt erschlagen worden" (We would have beaten you to death). All other people said "Finde ich super" or want to start a conversation about knitting. That's interesting because normally i avoid conversation in public and public transport - even if i'm accompanied by friends or family. And most germans behave the same. So this are two topics: Communication in public and knitting in public.
"Salat" has in German a broader Meaning than just classic Salads to eat: It also means like something is mixed together (and/or shreddered). So this means Kabelsalat/Cable Salad means, many mixed up Cables lying around like a Mess.
Best: Never buy ready to eat salads!! Self made is the way to go. At least for me. Btw. try to make your own Mayo and sauces in general it's worth it (Ketchup 20% Zucker)!.....
Salad: There are regional differences. In Bavaria almost noone would consider Mayo as a valid ingredient of a salad. Potatoe Salad contains mostly vinegar mixed with vegetable broth and rapeseed oil, salt, onions and pepper. Meat salad is made of regensburg sausage - Sauce is the Same as in potatoe salad except the broth. If you add noodles and perhaps some vegetables you have a noodle salad. Lamb's lettuce with oyster mushrooms is best when served lukewarm (as well as potatoe salad) and instead of rapeseed oil often rendered bacon is used. Happy cooking :P
Stoßlüften is best in winter. You exchange the air quickly. This way the walls and furniture don't cool down and the can be heated again pretty quickly as it has a low thermal capacity. If you were to just open your windows only slightly, then it will take a long time to get the room full of fresh air and walls/furniture cool down. Then it takes like ages to reheat the high thermal capacity things. Not to mention not opening the windows, WE NEED FRESH AIR!

If you are invited to a garden party and want to bring a salad, you will usually bring a salad made according to usual kitchen rules from untreated raw products and not ready-made boxes with preserved mayonnaise products.

Vor mittlerweile 40 Jahren habe ich ,zusammen mit jungen amerikanischen Soldaten , in einer Kaserne, in Norddeutschland gedient. Die waren im Schnitt 20 Jahre alt und das erste mal im Ausland. Auf einer Party gab es deutsches Bier und die Jungs sind an unserem Kronkorken verzweifelt,weil ,das gibt es auch in Amerika,aber als Drehverschluss. Am ende des Abends war mein Feuerzeug durch und ich ihr Held. 😅😅

Invitation, by the way, is a word that US Americans seem to not understand. They might invite you for dinner and go to a restaurant and expect that you pay your own food... 😕 If a German invites you, the German pays.
I wonder if you might be the one who did not understand. Americans do not make you pay for your own meal - the whole of the bill plus obligatory tip is divided evenly between the participants. Unless someone says it is their treat (which then means they treat you, not you have to cover them). You do not pay just for yourself, letting the bill be split up by the waiter so that everybody pays for their own dish and drinks is too time consuming. And that means, it takes longer to get the next paying customer to a table, and the turnover is very important to American restaurants.

3:25 It might surprise you that opening "all" windows (or at least two to produce an airstream) for a few seconds is actually the most energy efficient/saving method to air the room - in contrast to open up one window just a little bit but for a longer amount of time. You want the CO2 go away and O2 go in without cooling the house (i.e. the walls etc.) down. As long as the walls keep warm, that tiny bit of energy that was actually in the air is neglectible.

I think ventilation is a must in Germany because, firstly, our houses are extremely well insulated and the windows and doors close really tightly. Secondly, we don't have AC to ensure air exchange. So if you don't ventilate, the oxygen in the house is used up quite quickly. In addition, moisture starts to condense on windows and walls and then mold forms. That's why it's a must in many rental contracts. I personally have to either close the door and open the window to sleep or, if it's very hot or very cold outside, the other way round, close the window and open the door to the rest of the house because otherwise I feel like I'm suffocating in my sleep. That's probably nonsense, but that's the way it is

The most part of heat is not in the air, its in the Matter all in the Apartment. Means if you open the windows very short you replace 100% of the air but loose only a bit of the energy
yepp. It doesn't stop there. The moisty air inside is (over time) way harder to heat than the air outside. The whole reason of "Lüften" is, to get rid of the moist in the first place, drying the house a little bit and prevent molding.

Impact air makes especially in winter time sense. You open the windows for about 5-10 minutes and replace the old air with fresh air. And then you close the windows again. This way you loose way less heat in your home as if you open just one window just a bit. But you also have to take in consideration that nearly all homes in Germany are especially isolated and build out of stone and concrete. Modern homes are nearly airtight so they often have(need) an electronic ventilation system. These electronic ventilation systems have also integrated air change and heat recovery systems. The old air is pumped through some kind of radiator to recycle the heat and use it again to heat the house.
What's more, cold air is dryer than warm air, because there's not much water vapor in it, so by that air exchange in winter, you also reduce moisture and thus prevent mold from growing on your walls. That's especially important in older buildings. I have no experience with these modern homes and all their sophisticated ventilation systems, but I think I wouldn't like one because these sure need regular expensive inspection and maintenance, which a window definitely doesn't.

At home, there is not a problem with "Lüften" for me, but at work it is. I work as portier at a big, old place in Vienna. Everyone wants to open the windows in the seminar rooms - but unless they have a professor with them, they always forget to close the outer windows (there are inner and outer windows). Then comes some rain and a storm and many windows are destroyed. Old windows, very expennsive to replace. It drives me nuts, because it is a part of my job to watch out for this.

As a German, I refer to the German virtue of being prepared, which means that I of course have a bottle opener on my key ring and therefore don't have to rely on other tools. But that doesn't mean I couldn't open a beer bottle with any other object 😉

They are wrong about Mahlzeit only being used in the Office. In the early 90s there was this Movie "kleines Arschloch" the Protagonist always entered a room saying Mahlzeit! Church, school, doctors Office. It popularized it as a General greeting. So yes, German can greet everyone every where like that. It's Just not as common as saying it during meal Times.
Also i like how in Germany you have to bake cake for your birthday. It means you're getting cake for everyone elses birthday instead of being expected to bring it.
Also be aware that "Mahlzeit!" as a greeting is informal with a working-class vibe. While it's not rude, it would sound weird in more formal situations.

yeah, we got about 10 windows in our flat, opening each for only 5 minutes takes you nearly one hour to complete the first airing - 4 times a day you work 3 and a half hours just at the windows, that is a full day each week!

The reason for the Lüften is very easy to explain. Our modern Low Energy Houses are so dense, that there is No airflow between inside and Outside. So you have to "Lüften", otherwise the old CO2 high and humidity Air will stay in the House. Humidity in particular can then lead to mold. Mahlkeit or Ciao, Tschüß etc. we don't use that in northen Germany. "Moin" is enough.
Salat without Mayonnaise prepared is normal, even in Aldi or Lidl you can by it.
Usually, when people use a bottle to open a beer, they use a closed bottle...a friend of mine refined his method to the point of ooening a beer with an empty beer bottle...

and potato salad is, depending on the region, with (vinegar and oil) or (mayonese) and not always with mayonese.
Intermittent ventilation is an absolute must to avoid mold formation and to have fresh air (usually about 2 minutes on and off again)
And when it's your birthday it's the rule that you bring food for everyone else, not necessarily just cake, some people make breakfast or pizza or a barbecue.
I hope I was able to explain a little more about what it's like in Germany.

well, there's also use for bottle openers - and they were often used in germany, "but": mostly in the household, but not outside. outside you don't normally have always a bottle opener (well, i do, but i don't have always my keys in my near - and then, people using that one wrong, 'cause they don't look at it and see that's disigned differently), so, there's literally "everything" used what could hemp open bottles... Knifes, forks, spoons, lighters, folding rulers, a beer crate, other beer bottles... and that's just a "tiny bit" what could be used.
At 10:00 they're showing something typical German without even mentioning it: Those glass bowls! Every German household has them. Nobody bought them (ever!), they are just there... I don't even know where to buy them, never seen them in a shop... They are not meant to be bought or sold, those bowls are some kind of cosmic entity. And even if you break them (if that's even possible, I never tryed), they just somehow reappear. If some German would be mad enough to weaponize those bowls, every enemy would get shred by broken glass and we would NEVER run out of ammo. Fortunately we didn't have (or at least didn't use) them "back then". Imagine a Tiger II with a 360mm glass bowl cannon.

That compliment-thing, we are quit the opposite of some us-americans, who tends to exaggerate. For example, if something is quite ok or just interesting, I almost always hear from american tourists words like awesome, amazing, unbelievable, I'm shocked or something like that.
But after all, I have to admit we could just tell how is it, if something is really good instead to understate things with sayings like "not bad".

But, there can be times with very cold or hot weather over a couple of weeks in a row. So, all germans aim to have a home as insulated as possible!!! (helps saving money for heating too). In short: our walls, doors and windows, all of our buildings, they just can't breath. These are perfect conditions for getting mold into the buildings. The saying "MAHLZEIT" has a whole different origin! It comes from the work in mines. It's a term in mining. So when they came up the mining shaft at the end of shift or for lunch breaks you'd greet your comrades with "Mahlzeit". It's a blessing one shift gave the other shift when they changed shift. I don't want to say every other explanation is wrong. But it had a whole different meaning. The word "MAHLZEIT" carries the comradery, respect, brotherhood, sweat and tears and even death of the brave man in mining.
There is a book "10.000 Möglichkeiten, eine Flasche Bier zu öffnen". I know at least 10.001 ways to open a beer. If you know how it works, you can use nearly anything, it´s even possible with sheet of paper!

In Germany, most houses are made of stone. Modern windows are often installed, but the facade is not insulated. This means that the coldest surface in the room is the outside wall, usually in a corner. In the bedroom in particular, the humidity can reach up to 80% at night due to breathing and sweating. The humidity can condense on the cold wall and cause mold. So the moist air has to get out. The best way to do this is to open the windows wide on two sides of the apartment for a few minutes. Even in winter, you only lose a little heat because the floor, ceiling and walls cannot cool down so quickly. If you close the window again after 5 minutes, the apartment will be warm again within a few seconds.
Many people make the mistake of leaving windows in the tilt position all day, with the window only slightly open. But this is counterproductive. Firstly, there is hardly any air exchange, so the moisture remains. Secondly, the floors, ceiling and walls cool down. This causes the mold to grow even more and requires even more heating energy.

The stvo has multiple pages with rules regarding bikes and where and how you are allowed to drive them. There are also signs that tell you if you are allowed to ride on the sidewalk. There are two signs, both round with a blue background and white lines. One shows pedestrians above bikes with a horizontal dividing line between them wich tells you that it is a mixed sidewalk and one has them side by side with a vertical dividing line telling you that there is a dedicated bike lane that you have to use (there are exceptions in the stvo). Usually bike lanes have light gray pavement while the sidewalk is a different color

Traffic rules are not necessarily the case everywhere and at all times, at least in our city it has long been common practice for cyclists and pedestrians to be allowed to use the same paths.
And red pedestrian lights are often ignored when there is no traffic, unless there are children in sight.
The problem is driving on the wrong side, not that she used the path for people. You have to use the right side. Except if there is a path for bikes on one side that has a lane for both ways. But if the sidewalk is wide enough many people use it with their bikes too. But it's not allowed if u wanna be correct. But normally it isn't a big problem if there is enough space and you don't ride to fast.

I have another idea of a typical german thing:
Knitting in public life.
That has to do a bit with "how to behave" in public or in public transportation - trains or busses.
Normally germans don't communticate in public.
Using cellphones in a bus seems to be disturbing. And even make contakt in a train to other persons is - sometimes nice - but normally uncommon. And you can show that: Reading a book means: You don't want to talk.
When i use public transport, that's "spare time" for me - so i read books or i'm knitting socks or hooking something.
For me, that signals: I'm doing something. I'm occupied. I don't want to communicate.
But often the signal is the opposite: Others want to speak with you!
Worst case was a person from eastern germany, saying: "Bei uns wärst Du jetzt erschlagen worden" (We would have beaten you to death). All other people said "Finde ich super" or want to start a conversation about knitting.
That's interesting because normally i avoid conversation in public and public transport - even if i'm accompanied by friends or family. And most germans behave the same.
So this are two topics:
Communication in public and knitting in public.
"Salat" has in German a broader Meaning than just classic Salads to eat: It also means like something is mixed together (and/or shreddered). So this means Kabelsalat/Cable Salad means, many mixed up Cables lying around like a Mess.
Best: Never buy ready to eat salads!! Self made is the way to go. At least for me. Btw. try to make your own Mayo and sauces in general it's worth it (Ketchup 20% Zucker)!.....
Salad: There are regional differences. In Bavaria almost noone would consider Mayo as a valid ingredient of a salad. Potatoe Salad contains mostly vinegar mixed with vegetable broth and rapeseed oil, salt, onions and pepper. Meat salad is made of regensburg sausage - Sauce is the Same as in potatoe salad except the broth. If you add noodles and perhaps some vegetables you have a noodle salad. Lamb's lettuce with oyster mushrooms is best when served lukewarm (as well as potatoe salad) and instead of rapeseed oil often rendered bacon is used.

Almost EVERYTHING with an hard edge can open a bottle
Stoßlüften is best in winter. You exchange the air quickly. This way the walls and furniture don't cool down and the can be heated again pretty quickly as it has a low thermal capacity.
If you were to just open your windows only slightly, then it will take a long time to get the room full of fresh air and walls/furniture cool down. Then it takes like ages to reheat the high thermal capacity things.
Not to mention not opening the windows, WE NEED FRESH AIR!
