Join us on board Narrowboat One Day More as we visit the stunning Warwick Castle, address a leaking problem, visit our boatbuilder and figure out the logistics of life on board with two dogs that need grooming!
Hello! If you are new here we are Caroline and Pete, and in 2021, after 10 years living in Texas, we sold up and moved back home to the UK to live full time aboard a 60ft narrowboat, One Day More, with our West Highland Terriers! Join us in our day to day life as we continuously cruise the canals and rivers of the UK. All of the ups, and the downs and everything in between!

Awww, Poppy was so enchanting rolling around in the towel getting herself dry!
Oh she's a crazy girl when she's wet.When we lived on land she would always go chasing around the whole house getting herself dry! Even funnier was watching her reaction to herself on the TV when we were doing on pre-publishing check! She normally does't react to herself or Hamish on TV, but she was fixated on the scrabbling around in the towel 😂
Lovely video! Hamish and Poppy have such BIG personalities-I’m still chuckling over Poppy’s bath antics and the shot of one of them peeking under the pram (?). 😂
Oh they are our entertainment for sure, especially Poppy who always has to be where the action is! That was her peeping under the pram hood. She loves nothing better than sitting up the back, keeping an eye out and greeting passers by when we are moored up! Glad you enjoyed it 😊
What a lovely visit to Warwick Castle. So much going on with the enactments. Some of those steps looked extremely steep and difficult, but you made it to the top.
I must say those boat builders were extremely helpful and efficient in producing a new door in a very short time.

Forgot to say that the town was as delightful as the castle. I was just floored by the lovely carved bricks over the entrance to one of the first buildings you showed. And to think all of that is genuine. Wow! It must be the furthest thing possible from Texas.

You’re so right Rainey, a million miles from Texas! When I’m filming all the little details that seem so familiar to us I always think of our viewers from all over the world who don’t get to see these things day in day out. A bit like when we saw our very first 6 lane highway in Texas, and our first customer in a restaurant wearing his Stetson! 🤠

Always good to hear you’ve enjoyed it Eric! I worry when it’s not the usual cruising videos if people will still enjoy them. We have seen some extra seating on our type of stern but not really feasible to have them down when cruising 😊

That was a fantastic vlog! I love history and in particular the Plantagenet and Tudor Period which really defined England, so your trip to Warwick Castle was heaven to me. Poppy and Hamish look so smart with their haircuts etc but I bet they are glad it's only once a year!! This was something a little different to our usual cruising videos, so I am always a little wary of still making it enjoyable! Poppy and Hamish are groomed every 8-10 weeks or so. We have friends who groom their own dogs, but westies have such a specific cut we would not want to attempt it ourselves, especially as Poppy is far from cooperative! Luckily our groomer Lee has got used to her ways in the 3 years we have been visiting him! 😊

We have been very lucky with our boat builder Billy, especially as we couldn’t visit before we started our build with them. It’s been a wonderful relationship. You hear some horror stories 😳

Wow!!!! that brought back memories, we hired a canal boat from Gayton marina and cruised up to Warwick and back in a week. Hard going as I recall, the one and only time we did a canal holiday. Thanks for taking us back

Watching Pete looking at the engines at Warwick and doing the door on the boat I have to wonder what flavour of engineer he is? Great video we toured Warwick 2 times while over there.
It's a great place isn't it! We are so glad we took the time to visit the castle especially. You really can tell Pete's an engineer can't you, he's a mechanical engineer, and just loves engines! 😊

We are always glad you can join us Leigh! Isn't UA-cam a wonderful thing! You're right, not a common sight in Texas! But you have the Alamo! Rain had got into the hinge of the hatch door as we think the seal had come away, and the damp had caused the oak to swell and stain. It was a quick and easy fix though, with the lovely guys at Russell Narrowboats 😊

Warwick Castle is very neat place. I particularly loved the raptors. It was a big crowd even though the sky was VERY moody. I was afraid you'd be caught in a downpour. The town's flowers were gorgeous. Of course, Warwick is a tourist destination but it seems like all the villages take pride in their common areas. The pups look so nice with their grooming, but they are probably glad it doesn't come around very often. Good idea to bypass the dryer for Poppy since it causes a lot of stress. ❤
It was a wonderful day out Dorothy, and we were so lucky with the weather staying dry! And you're so right about villages and towns taking pride in their common areas, especially with the abundance of flowers. You will see even more as we head down the River Avon in a few episodes time, with some very gorgeous villages and small towns. 😊

We have just done the route you are on and stayed at the Saltisford Arm. What a lovely mooring and lovely people. Unfortunately we couldn’t go in the castle due to only recently rehoming our little dog who cannot be left on his own. We viewed from the outside ! So thank you for showing us what we missed! Loving following you on our summer route. Although, theoretically, you were following us ! Can’t wait for the next vlog ! The Hatton flight ? xx Jean
It really is just lovely isn’t it Jean and the people there make it even more special. Glad you could give you a little tour of the castle, and totally understand about not leaving your little dog. You’re right, the next episode that I’m just finishing is the Hatton flight of locks and on towards Kingswood junction, stopping near Tom O’ The Wood pub 😊

It really was a wonderful day! We were surprised at how much there was to see and do, and the shows were fabulous faulty and very entertaining! Despite the trials of the groomer, Poppy does always end up looking very cute 😊
I remember visiting the castle..when I was taking some video footage of the interior some old hag from the NT said stop filming and how would I like it if someone went into my house and took photos of my things...got to the gift shop and you guessed it , a big hard cover coffee table book of the castle and it's interior and a DVD as well!!!.🤣🤣❤️🇬🇧

So glad you enjoyed it Bette, it's always good to hear! Alex is between cruise contracts at the moment. He starts rehearsals for the next contract next month, and will be joining the ship in January, together with his girlfriend Hannah, who you will have seen in some of our videos. She is a dancer in the production cast and they are excited to be on the same contract! 😊

It was a wonderful day out! A full day ticket ranges from about £28-£39 depending on the day and time of year. We actually bought our tickets using our Tescos Clubcard points that we had saved from grocery shopping, so it was a free day out really! Definitely worth the money as it was full day out with so much to see and do. The only downside really which is typical of these sorts of places, was the poor quality and expensive food options! Next time we would be more prepared and take our own picnic 😊

Hi guys hope your all doing, can i ask how come you guys havnt swapped your muilty fuel stove for a diesel stove?
All good here thank you Trev! We really are a divided on the diesel versus multi fuel stove debate. I would love a diesel stove, as to me it’s cleaner, no worry about space for coal and wood storage and more immediate and controllable heat. However, Pete really is a real fire lover and as he’s the one who does all the work re the stove, I really can’t complain! And I have to admit I do love the cosiness of the flickering flames and glow of the fire in the long dark evenings. 🔥
Hi guys thank you for getting back to i am sure that reflec do a conversation kit for muilty flue stove plus u can buy some kinda of stone or log that make it look like a real fire,
As that is the line i would go down if i ever have a narrow boat as not a fan of the relfec diesel stove look but u also have a bubble stove what looks alot like a muilty fuel stove, apart from that i have watch all of ur vlogs and was kinda hopping that pete fell in when he was fixing the back bottom thingy lol .
