    This school bus to tiny house renovation has been the most rewarding project I've done to date and it feels awesome to have momentum on my side during this project. In this video I show you every step of the process for how to build a functional, versatile bedroom for your school bus to RV / Tiny house conversion. Storage is so important when it comes to tiny living and I've crammed as much utility out of the platform bed I wanted to do as possible. If you want to take on a school bus conversion follow along and I'll show you all my success and failures on Modern Builds! :)

      Those outlet covers were a pretty cool idea, next time you could just get outlet spacers from the electrical section at home depot and longer screws, much less effort, and the outlet will be flush with the wall like you wanted

    When installing floor joists, always make sure the "crown" is up. Few boards are perfectly straight, so put the arch on top like a bridge beam. Not only is it stronger but if you have one up next to a board with the crown down your floor will be wavy.

    An idea I’ve been knocking around in my head for a while is to use some “drawers” to take advantage of the awkward under bed area. My thought was to make boxes that will fit that have wheels or a rail but can be taken right out, then link them with a hook, so you can push them right back into the space and get them out again. Did any of that make sense?

    • @sergiogsr

      Search for videos about truck bed drawers. It's a similar idea and you can get ideas.

      You'd probably have to disconnect each box as they are pulled out, because he doesn't have the room to pull it straight out at once. That's because the bathroom is in the way. But I'm sure there is a creative solution to fix that and not waste all the space underneath.

    • @auron1987
      @auron1987 4 роки тому +3

      Was just about to post something similar. If you can't fit one giant drawer then a series of them back to back with most used stuff in the front one and rarely used stuff in the back.

    Just a little advice, from someone with a bit of experience in the electrical space, there's a reason outlet extension boxes, that solve your exact problem, are plastic and not metal. Generally, you don't want your user facing outlet trim to be conductive. You should at least run a ground wire around a stud on the back of it.

    Shaping up. Also an idea for those doing a build out. Instead of sanding/painting inside the bus, once you've cut your wood go ahead and pre-sand/paint on a saw horse etc. Then once everything is in place, you're pretty much just spot checking. He's young though, but our knees would be cashed.

    You should add hinges to the storage cabinets that are on the left and right side of the mattress to make it easier to open and close and also instead of using magnets for the cabinet in front of the platform, but overall I can confirm this is a certified banger!

    Hey I know Im a little late to comment but with the outlets, you could have used some spacers or a outlet sleeve. If you really want to go "pro" with it we electricians will just use wire wrapped around a screwdriver or a trimmed wire nut as a spacer for the outlet. Then you get longer screws and it will hold the outlet out of the wall enough to put a cover and make it look flush. But spacers are easier.

    Under the bed storage if you could find a plastic storage container 5 of them all the same size connect them all together but also able to disconnect and reconnect in any order you could use the majority of the space if you understand what I'm saying.
