The professionalism of those cops was fantastic. It may seem strange or unsettling to see them laughing and joking with him, but this is how confessions are won. They made him comfortable, made him feel safe, and let him tell them what he'd done without feeling like he was being judged.
The self control it must take to sit across from someone like this and laugh at their jokes... Incredible.

To people commenting on disliking the cops conducting the interrogation: Their job is to make the suspect comfortable and to make him talk. Their job is NOT to act judgemental or criticize. Essentially, they're his buddies while they probe him with questions and get as much out of him as possible. After they feel they have what they need, he could be dropped in a black pit for the rest of his life for all they care. They're doing their job.

You can tell by Kala's first words that she had been running through this scenario in her head the entire time. Working to make sure she remembered absolutely everything she needed to tell the officers. The fact that she remembered to mention the red pepper meant she was listening to everything so she could save the investigators time and effort by telling them exactly what they needed to know. What a brave and beautiful woman. It takes a lot of power to survive so strongly.
Edit- Saying she is a strong and beautiful woman isn't sexualizing her. Even if I was saying that she was physically attractive IT'S NOT SEXUAL. She is a beautiful woman. YES. WOMAN. That's her fucking gender. Get over it. I am a rape survivor too. I'm not being insensitive. I'm not being sexual. She is a beautiful person. She went through absolute hell, yet the first thing she did was start saying as much as she could remember to help them catch the guy.

I like how you can sort of see the truth between the story at times.
Like when he says "she really wanted the collar" and how he refused it upon arrival. You actually almost get the impression that there's some truth to it, which makes no sense.
Until when revisiting the topic, he says "she said she wanted that instead of the chains" and it becomes obvious what she was doing.
The chains were clearly uncomfortable and probably even painful and chaffing. She was using delicate manipulation to make herself more comfortable under the guise of pleasing him.
Truly awful stuff, but a very quick-minded and insanely strong woman.

Indeed, but strong... in her place you would have no choice and do the same, no one is strong, we are just survivors ready to do anything to not die. We are both manipulative, the killer and the victim, we all want to get something, and we either get it or they take it from us. We are sociable creatures but this society has managed to break everything especially in the West, I would rather say the elites have done everything to break all the social codes and make a hell of a mess, with their societal movements wokism pop feminism LGBT ect. Society is not very productive, there are conflicts daily, people don't make love like they used to, people don't talk to each other that much, people become autistic, people move away from things of true values ( love, respect, nature, healthy music, healthy food) and people get closer to the virtual, to the supremacy of matter and unfortunately not gray. People are in a hurry, walk quickly, talk quickly, eat quickly, sleep quickly and run to work. People are piling on the train like sardines in cans, society is sick. The suicide rate is increasing, the unemployment rate too, the crime rate has never been so high. The elites know it, they have the keys to society in their hands and they want total chaos in the West, to divide us (men and women, white black people, atheist agnostic believers) ect.
      This is my'point of view

This is immediately what I thought. People are talking about how crazy it was that she was this calm, but I think her strong willed mentality allowed her to focus on the goal of the captivity, which kept her sane. She was ALWAYS taking notes about everything she could, and, like a game of Simon says, she likely went over every detail every day over and over so she wouldn’t forget anything. And then when something new happened that she needed to remember, she just added it to her list. She probably was so focused on that, that she didn’t really give herself time to feel sorry for herself or give up trying. It was very smart to do whatever it took to survive WHILE remembering all of that stuff, but it’s clear, to me, that she was rehearsing for the moment she was found. She labeled the “blue tarp,” his first and last name, the first and last name of her boyfriend, everything… very proud of her

EDIT: did not think this would get much attention but to re state, I did not mean this to be like “ooo poor doggies” as some comments said. I was saying simply it was admirable how even with all the trauma she clearly suffered she could still remember to mention the red pepper. I’m not an FBI Agent, I assumed the pepper probably might hurt the dogs.

She's in a shock-state, she is traumatized, not in the sense like people tweet nowadays when their latte is cold but in medical terms! That's why she behaved that way, and it's actually a rather serious condition that immediately calls for paramedic attention because it can be life-threatening. After a car crash, I've seen someone, who was missing a leg that had gotten ripped off, calmly telling me they can't remember where they had left their keys, like in a casual small talk, haha keys right? ... They weren't brave or strong, that's what a shock does to people and if this happens, you'd be surprised at how close to dying they actually are.
