  • I continue my reaction from a doctors perspective of Cells at Work (Hataraku Saibou) by reviewing episode 3 Influenza. I'll break down the scenes and give more of an insight into the cells and the medical science where I can!
We learn about viruses, cytotoxic t cells, dendritic cells, macrophages, and loads more...
Thank you to everyone who has made the first two videos so popular, I probably mean you if you're reading this! I've had a hectic week but really wanted to give you guys another episode, so here it is.
This is by far the most technical review, I had to hold myself back a bit because loads of stuff like B-cells, antibodies, memory cells, all were talked about, but didn't want to have a one hour review!
If you like this you can check out my look at the first episode here:
    • Real DOCTOR reacts to ...
    Or the second one here:
    • Real DOCTOR reacts to ...
You can watch Cells at Work! here:
    crunchyroll.com/cells-at-work/...
Again this video is more of an explanation and breakdown as well as a reaction, so it is very medical at times, we talk about cell biology, microbiology and the physiology of your body. I try and bring something different to each video, so if you enjoyed this please check out my other reviews of Medical TV dramas; House MD, Scrubs, The Good Doctor, Grey’s Anatomy, The Resident and ER!

Apologies for the audio at the start of this one, it does improve. Let me know your favourite episodes down so I know what I've subjects I've got to look forward to...

*Viral Infections* are one of the most interesting concepts in Biology to me. It's like a very tactical war; Invasion and sending in double agents (Cells infected by viruses) to destroy from the inside. if I remember correctly I think there's some thought or evidence that viruses were developed by bacteria ages ago as a weapon but since viruses are imperfect replicators they are subject to the process of evolution.
Fun fact: the reason why mammals carry their young inside is because our line was infected with a retro-virus that prevented our eggs from being laid.. so we evolved a way around the issue.

I've always been a bit of a science nerd, and cells are my favorite topic. I've already watched this anime but I am definitely enjoying your reviews and explanations of it all. I also enjoy your reactions to these very creative personifications 👍🏽

I really really enjoy learning new things, so to have your expertise to further explain these phenomena in an easy to understand way is a blast!! Thank you for the wonderfully educational videos. I’m binging on them during my quarantine!

I'm so mad your channel didn't exist while I was still in school! I could of passed my science classes a LOT easier with you!

Well, the anime too, of course. But I was referencing to Dr. Hope in general because all of his videos are neat

I love the timing so much. Literally when Cells At Work finished airing I just started college. I go to a science college so literally everything here is important to my education XD.
My favourite part is when the lecturer talked about how "Neutrophils would hunt down pathogens as if they have nothing else to do" then all the weebs in my class just started laughing like crazy...
Then she told us that white blood cells often die while fighting an infection and we were like:
      Oh. ._.

But I already know platelets die in less than ten days so my broken heart can't be damaged any further T.T
      Those poor children...

The thing I like about this series is the fact that you don't stray from what your channel is about. You react and at the same time teach biology in simple terms. I have learned so much and remember it compared to taking a whole year of it in my sophomore year. I'm also glad you are enjoying it and not just milking this series.

Same! I like how the reactions, while part of the show, isn't the part that takes the most focus ♡
More like doctor explains cells at work lol

What's up Doc! I hope you've noticed easter eggs in this anime. Like when the red blood cells have no oxygen their red clothing is darker. There are other things, but I think it's best to let you find out on your own. lol
As an MA myself, you being a doctor and reviewing this anime is the greatest thing. Haha

@@biffnotsotannen1462 Yeah, watch for the little details. Like the fact that the platelets are kids. He did explain why they're kids last video. But if you actually know the details about platelets, you'll realize why you never see any teen/adult platelets ;-; again, the little details. Haha

It's technically not that their clothes turns darker (in the context of the show at least). Their jackets are reversible.
