A one day window after a week of snow and I headed to a snowy Glencoe and one of the best views across Scotland's Mountains . Deep snow and blue skies above the white mountains made it a day in the hills that I wouldn't forget quickly!

Absolutely - I have the same feeling but the mountains will wait for us. One of the reasons I kept going with the back log and archives was to keep the feeling alive through this tough time

Superb ! I think secretly you must have an entire camera crew in tow ?! Setting up these great shots where you're walking into view and then marching away from camera - jeezaloo these must take ages to set up ? - and then you've still got to come back to retrieve the gear...! And here's the thing - as you walk into view - no footprints in the snow.....! Great work Murray, well done.

Thats an excellant hill Murray. I went up it the first time the day before the second lockdown started because I new I wouldn't get out on the hills for a while. Not another person in sight. The views are magnificent.
It hard to beat that view point over Glen Coe for sure :)

It certainly was. I do my best to try and convey what I see when out on the hills bu I never come close to capturing what it is actually like to be there and seeing it with your own eyes :)

Its weird, I never liked getting up early for a day shift for work but doing it for a hill day was never an issue :-) Also like the wee sequence at 8.10 negotiating the wee "bergschrund" :-) Quality vid Murray.

As I sit here at ‘OMG it’s early’ and ponder what’s in store for the new day, a welcome notification from UA-cam has already given me a ray of sunshine.
Another great episode Murray. You could easily make two episodes from this one. The second could be entitled ‘How and why I position my B roll camera sequences’ I like how you position your camera showing you moving through the scene without any other footprints. It’s as if you have a second person filming for you.

Amazing! I was up there too at the same day from the morning with the beautiful sunrise! I saw all the tracks you left behind and thought to myself it be so nice to have one of those snow shoes! as it was really deep powder! Amazing video
Benjamin Barendrecht it was a a amazing day :) at one point I was floating across the snow and my binding came loose and my foot slipped out of the snowshoe and I was up to my knee on the next step !! Really useful equipment in these conditions :)

That was Sensational Murray!! Not exactly a casual wander up the hill (looked like tough work) but the rewards were fantastic. Just three weeks ago, we flew over to Scotland from Australia for our two week photography tour and Beinn a'Chrulaiste was top of my hit list - you might remember we discussed the best way to ascend. ....then the world changed. We ended up spending the weekend in Scotland with one amazing day in Glencoe, shooting like crazy, then got on a plane and flew back to Sydney. Oh well, there's always next time eh 😉 You're making it hard to choose the top ten videos my friend! Great camera work too 👌👌

Great video. Have you ever been to the Rocky Mountains? I moved to Colorado from Florida and became a lot more serious about hiking. I got into 14,000 foot peaks (climbed 35 my first year) and now have got into ice climbing. Just recently I began publishing UA-cam videos of these experiences and I have never been happier. There was a ton of discomfort involved, but the pay off is priceless. Keep at it!

Beautiful video! How are the Scottish mountains for ski touring? I see even at the top there's still a lot of rock poking out. Is that usually the case or are there periods with heavy snow cover?
Natalie Up North hi - not an expert but the hills in the east maybe better under certain co fiona as there are wider plateau’s etc - maybe try googling ski touring in the Cairngorms as I think they are a good area for this 👍
