Force multiplier is often a military reference. If one soldier with a long range rifle can keep 5 enemy from advancing into a range where they can return effective fire, he is a force multiplier of 5:1. If he has a spotter it drops to 5:2 but still a force multiplier.
Its crazy to thing the Brad Holmes 1st draft has produced 2 maybe 3 pro bowlers and 2 solid contributors (Iffy/Barnes). I think with we as a fan base need to get used to fielding one on the best teams in the league every year. I hear talk about the Packers and Bears, but if you look at how they are building this team we should have NO worries. This front office and coaching staff is identifying good/great players and putting them in great positions. We will finally have 2 good corners for this defense I can't wait to see them produce. The QB's will have to hold on to the ball a tick longer which should lead to monster years from McNeil and Hutch. I just hope we can keep McNeil. He will command some serious coin if he produces like we think (40-50 pressures & 6-8 sacks)
Love these breakdowns guys. Keep it coming! Looking forward to training camp, do you have plans for how you're breaking those down? I'm really gonna miss Erik and Jeremy's podcast breakdowns this year.
I will be attending several practices so we will definitely have some breakdowns here. Plus, hoping we have something in place for the PoDcast by then.
Pretty much, but he'll continue to be a run stuffer, and his pass rushing moves, and skills should be alot better to he can be a top 5-7 DT in our league I think Brad is preparing to pay him, because he's one of their guys he handpicked out of the draft.
Something I’m excited to see and hope to see with the improved secondary and addition of DJ Reader is the usage of our LB room because I think that is probably our deepest room on defense and with guys up front and behind them improved on paper. You can really play them to their strengths. In particular I think Jack Campbell can have an incredible year. I think if his head is right he’s a guy you can trust to cover. But I also think Campbell has the potential and athleticism to be our best blitzing LB and a guy that can do that at LB or at least be a respectable threat that creates more opportunity for the guys up front. Aaron Glenn took A LOT of heat for how our defense played early on but I think over time the fanbase slowly started to see oh it’s not necessarily Aaron Glenn but we lack the personnel to fit the vision of what he wants to see done on a given down. With that I would say his seat is at least warm. With the improvements done on paper to this roster there will be a lot of expectations on how this defense will perform because there’s a lot of hype around these new additions. We struggle early and the temperature will only rise on him. I think he will ultimately give us a HC worthy year because as you guys allude to, we got to the NFC Championship game with the defense as it was and that due in large part his ability to coach and adjust to what we had.
If Alim produces this year like many of us think he might it will be the first real test of Brad's "Draft, Develop, Retain" policy. The message the org has sent is "If you produce we will pay you." Will Brad find a way to make the $ work or will they let him walk or trade him?
Biden opened up your show with a call for help, money wise. You guys need to not let that happen. Almost turned it off lol. Seriously, lol. You probably can't, but that was sickening. Sorry.
