Bagdad Cafe Trailer - Directed by Percy Adlon and starring Marianne SÄgebrecht, CCH Pounder, Jack Palance, Christine Kaufmann, Monica Calhoun. A lonely German woman ends up in the most desolated motel on earth and decides to make it brighter.
MGM - 1987
I fell in love with this film and its characters decades ago. Have watched it countless times. It's quirky and uplifting. Full of heart. Truly beautiful.
My sentiments exactly! One of those films it gets better with every viewing. To me this is the best example of independent visionary quirky cool filmmaking. I’m so thankful I got to see it at a film festival and months later on the big screen in the cinemas
This movie is just a masterpiece, so many beautiful messages that makes you thinking for some time..
i tried to turn away from this movie... but those two lovely actors grabbed hold of my soul, and wouldn't let me go... one of the best movies most people have probably never seen...
+RedOcktober - That's why we have to encourage other people to see these kind of movies.
Yes!
@@theolamp5312exactly!! I'm trying to do that, and with this gem! 😊
I saw it for the first time on This! TV a couple years ago.
@@allanhernandez2508 I just saw it for the first time on Talking Pictures TV. I was only 12 when it came out, but still, can't believe I never even knew it existed. The credits rolled ten minutes ago, I miss the characters already!
I fell in love with this film many many moons ago.
One of my favorites of the eighties. I decided today to watch it again. ;-)
A very strange and lovely film. I wish more people knew it and could keep it to myself all at once.
It took me a long time to watch this movie. For some reason it didn't look like anything I wanted to watch. I was So Wrong about that! I finally rented it (when we had video rental stores) and LOVED it! It is one of my top favorite movies of all. I owned it on VHS and now on DVD so I can watch it whenever I am in the mood.
My Mother and I discovered this movie when I was probably 14. I recall crying a few times and I recall laughing hard, out loud. The final music act has been the most delightful ear worm for over 20 years now. Find it. Watch it. Share it.
I was enthralled, fully engaged with this movie from the start. You can feel the emotions in these characters, played so extremely well. The song that is lightly sung during the movie- the women almost a soft whaling is absolutely hauntingly beautiful & I will still think about 🥲. What a gem... I'm so happy I found it that day, which was so needed. It's special. Please watch. I find myself bringing it up & if someone says they've seen it it's like we've shared a special moment!😊 I've also just recently put it up at work as a 'movie of the week' to see. & free on Tubi TV ❤
I saw this movie 20 years ago - my friend was dating a movie enthusiastic and they showed me this film. Somehow it really had an impact on me - have forgotten the plot, but the mood keeps lingering. Very captivating and powerful.
I'm SO glad that I gave this film a chance. I took a while to get into it, as it was billed as a comedy in the synopsis - I'd call it an off-beat drama, most heart-warming, too. The only thing I didn't like about it in the end, was the end - I felt it cut off like it ran out of money or time - we didn't get to see Jasmin & Rudi's wedding! GUTTED! That would have rounded it off perfectly. Excellent cast, great script, I enjoyed the real human stories intertwined, I love it. 10/10.
This is a sweet little film that stays with you.
Yes it does!
jack palance was so light & delightful in this
One of my all Time Favorite Films. Jack Palance is Great. Just the Right amount of Weird and Funny.
I've owned the 📀 DVD since it became available. One of my favorite modern films of all time.
I've never been more confused when watching the first 30 or so minutes of a film. But, I was intrigued - so I stayed with it. I was really glad I did. It is one of those stories where the journey is as important as the ending. Jack Palance chews up the scenery & all the actors do a great job. Nobody phoned this one in. I can understand how it's not a film for everybody, but, I loved it.
PS - if you have seen this & loved Javetta Steele's version of the song "Calling You" - take the time to watch Dorota Osinska's - The Voice audition. It's slightly different, but equally impressive.
Theo Lamp I just watched Dorota Osinska's - The Voice audition performance. Thank you for recommending this. Really moving!
Karina VT You're welcome. I often recommend things I think are special. You were the first person to let me know that they enjoyed my recommendation.
PS - I cried when I watched Dorota's rendition. And, if you haven't seen it, check out BGT Attraction semi-final full version. Thanks & best wishes - Ted
PS - Check the JEFF BUCKLEY version too. its powerful
@ - Thanks, I agree. Since I posted, I have listened to Jeff's version. In my mind, Janetta's version is the most soulful, Dorota's is the most moving, and Jeff's is devastatingly painful. No need to rate or compare them. Great is just great.
@@theolamp5312 Indeed. This song is an open blank canvas that allows a particular expression. Thanks for sharing
I saw it for the first time on the This! Network. I absolutely loved it!!
I'm catching up on my classic movies & ones that are somewhat older but all so new to me..
1/19/21, I came across this movie. Kinda new to the storyline I'm familiar with the actors/actresses in it.. the late Jack Palance.. wow, I just saw a movie western with him as a retired confederate soldier along with his posse going up against Charles Bronson portraying a Indian.. that movie definely worth a view.
Anyways, Bagdad Cafe' caught my attention with A+ acting all around.. took me to those times when I traveled myself.. just to visit new places, meet different people. Movies like this don't come around often, some still buried unless they are found. When they are or new ones have that kinda cliche', it's worth the time to checkout. I'm glad I did..
One of the best movies Im ever watched.
It's 2019 and I'm just hearing about this .... 😥 must watch!
Stumbled upon this just now. Need to look for this movie.
Absolutely
2021 bruh
& I just watched it towards the end of last year! Better too late than never😊
@@dhairyajumal5619 2022!
I forgot this movie existed until a few minutes ago, I need to watch it again!
This is one of my favourites movies , it is amazing !! I recommend it for everybody that didn't watch it before❤❤
This trailer does not do the movie justice at all. Nothing in the movie suggests that Jasmine had 'never seen a black person' before. The movie itself is so much more subtle and slice-of-life. Surreal life, sure, but a very sweet and lovely surreal life.
One of the most underrated movies ever gorgeous film
One of my all-time favorite movies.
Ohhhhh!!!!!!
I saw this film....in Casablanca cinema!!!!
I loved to much...to much!!!!
Many years ago.....
I want to come back again to the movies frequently
It's been on the free Tubi TV!! 😀
I watched few years ago... a very original and touching film!
Loved this movie so much that I bought it. Something about it, the acting and the setting.
Yes!
Adore it!!! Forever! So beautiful and honest!! ❤🤗❤🤗❤🤗🥇🥇🥇🥇👍👍👍👍👍💚🤣🤣🥰🌺🌸🦄🪁💜❤💙🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Wow, a young CHH Pounder. Neat!
One of the. Best movies
So heartfelt and lovely.
Learned this was shot on Route 66 in Arizona, wanted to watch the film
Rode my motorcycle out there with a buddy today and had breakfast. We were the only customers in there. We were served by three older people that were haggard and and mostly toothless, but they cooked a mean breakfast and gave great service! What a strange little place! We fed three dogs that sat in the middle of the road out front and then took off towards Joshua Tree
been bulldozed for years so....
That's scary. Maybe they were ghost. Or maybe the guy/girl that posted this is a ghost. Or maybe I'm a ghost. Omg
Do u mean that there is a real place called Bagdad cofe?and u went there
@@abasabas6179 of course I looked things up after watching this movie and yes there is really a bagdad Cafe and from what I know it was still standing
@Forrestwilliam -Oh wow, Joshua tree.. I've wanted to go there.... maybe one day....... How was it?!
So the other day I was watching The Grand Budapest Hotel with my mom, we really enjoyed the movie, we laughed together, after the movie she told me: "This reminds me of two movies I watched when I was young: Underground and Bagdad Cafe, you should watch them" so I looked up for this one and I don't regret it
Ahh Budapest Hotel! So glad I watched that one - so good 😊 Your Mom has great taste 🙂 and you too! 😊
Haven't seen underground but I'm sure it's good if you guys like these I'll have to see where I can find it 🙂
LOVE Bagdad Cafe, I've watched it many times and it's great every time.
Like so many others, I love this quirky movie. Great characters, acting, and cinematography.
I watched that a number of times, and what a sweet ending it has!
I'd forgot about this lovely film...
Such a marvelous and beautiful movie 🥰
Me too. One of my all time favorites move from the 1980's. "Every life could use a little magic."
Uber-underrated movie. Ciao, from Italy.
This Film holds up very well all these years later.
Grandissimo
Love this film.❤️
Such an amazing film, should have been more popular 👍
i didn't expect it to be good at at all at the beginning of the movie. but i got interested as i was watching it and ended up crying and loving the movie. i would like to be a friend like Yasmin or Branda and have friends like Yasmin and Branda.
Your comment is lovely. I cried too, had a feeling of light inside and thought that I really, really love my best friend
This is a great movie if you can please watch it. I've enjoyed watching it so many times 😊😊😊
I love this film!!!!
One of my favorite movies!
Incredibly romantic, adventurous and fairy-like. It's absolutely rewarding to watch.🎉
I Watched today for the first time and I liked it so much!
Great trailer. Gives away the entire story, including the plot points, surprises and ending. (face palm)
The ending is not given away, it is powerful and not easy to be anticipated.
@@publicrelations4143 IT SHOWS JASMIN LEAVING, EVERYONE BEING BUMMED, THEN JASMIN COMING BACK, AND THEY'RE HAVING THEIR CELEBRATION.
The last sentence was so powerful, perfectly summarizing what the movie was about, more important than the movements of the characters and not in the trailer.
@@publicrelations4143 exactly.. & the way you'll feel and what this movie is and meeting the characters- you have to watch the movie, you cannot get that in the trailer, so it's not giving anything away. I want everyone to please still watch you'll be so happy you did!!
I have never heard of this movie until it was mentioned in Eichiro Oda's One-Piece Q&A....
I'm about to watch this movie for educational purposes. Love from a teacher and student.
I wonder what you think!
Magical movie!!!
Yes😊
I love this movie, more than any! I can not find the DVD!
it's on amazon prime video now!
Adorable movie!
Wonderful Film!!!!
Por dios, me la encontré de casualidad porque en Amazon la iban a quitar en unas horas y la ameee, mensajes muy bellos, escenas que te tocan el alma. Me gustó mucho :)))
Las dos son la misma persona?
La película que nos cambió la vida🎉
Great movie. Too bad it didn't get the attention it deserved because it had some great lessons about life for all of us.
It won't let me hit like on who uploaded the movie!
Unfortunately I don't find it online...
Thanks !
Great movie!
Que bella pelicula.. exelente..
This is a movie that is, for some reason, never on tv.
I saw this movie when I was a kid... It was beautiful. Now Jeff Buckley brought me back here! :)
Had a David Lynch feel to it!
I’m reading Room to Dream, David Lynch bio/mémoire, and this haunting film just came to me…returned after years. Calling you!
Brenda went from Bagdad Cafe to doing RoboCop 3.
Donde me veo esta peli?? La busco por todos lados pero no la encuentro :(
está en amazon prime video
Nice movie.
This is Bonnie Raitt’s favorite movie
Ha! Didn't know that! 😄 I sing her voice tone the best 😊
I love this movie drove Back from California it was still there what was left of it Bagdad ,AZ the hotel was not there there the gas station was abandoned the pumps were there but not pumping
Una película inolvidable de los años 80. El amor y la amistad brotan en medio del desierto. Un magnífiho Jack Palance y una música deliciosa enmedio de situaciones surrealistas cargadas de emoción y sentimiento...
Nicely said!!
Estoy de acuerdo, lo expresaste perfecta y bellamente.
After re-reading One Piece, saw Oda on SBS corner mentioning this film. I'll try watching it and comment about the hype.
Haha I just read Oda talking about it a minute ago in volume 20 and now I’m here

Bagdad Café the tribute in my UA-cam Channel!
Tried watching the tv sitcom, doesn't even compare.
Robert R EXACTLY
beetje vreemd maar toch lekker.
een betere beschrijving kan ik niet geven.
op de een of andere manier bleef de film toch boeien.
het genre komedie, drama het is eigenlijk van alles wat.
toch leuk om 's gezien te hebben
American Ukrainian Volodymyr Palahniuk aka Jack Palance classic in this film in real life he did painting using oils he learned it when he lived in Italy and Switzerland.
Cool!!
Aiiiiiiiiiiiiaiiiiiiaiiiiiii am calllllling you...
Yeeessssss!!!!!!!!
I was told this movie was based on the McCullers novella “The ballad of the sad cafe”. Is this true? The stories are veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery different. I think the only thing they’ve got in common is the word “cafe” in the title. 😂
💛
One piece brought me here......yes the manga..well the author..Oda sensei.
Same lol
Spider cafe
hey i never watche or read the one piece manga or anime, but how did the creator reference this movie? that sounds very weird and cool lol
@@aerouwid4624 there's a location based off of bagdad cafe, when asked about it the creator of one piece said that it's one of his favorite films and told his readers to go watch it.
same
Adam the Woo sent me.
I was brought here by MST3K. I assumed this was about a cafe in Baghdad. I was wrong.
Don't watch this trailer, it's spoiling absolutely everything of the movie
I'm Here because of Oda Sensei
Same

Dorota Osinska's - The Voice audition performance brought me here hmmm film look rubbish but as they say never judge a book by it cover lol
Oh it is definitely not rubbish!
