Right next to American Werewolf In London, Ginger Snaps is my fav werewolf movie. Loved the practicals and the dark humor of the first movie and I love Katherine Isabelle and Emily Perkins.
I love how they used ginger's werewolf transformation as symbolism for puberty. Very clever for its time. The werewolf does look pretty cheesy but at least they went practical.
First thing we've disagreed about in awhile lol, I absolutely LOVE the first Ginger Snaps. Second one is tolerable, the other one I'm not too crazy about. I adore Katherine Izabelle.
Ooh, this is one of my favourites. Favourite werewolf film hands down, and definitely in my top ~15 horrors. I can understand why it’s so hit or miss for people, though. It does feel very low budget. It definitely starts out as a black comedy, too, which I can imagine just doesn’t work for some people. It’s a pretty on-the-nose analogy for puberty and transforming into something different, and Bridgette’s fears of being abandoned by her sister once Ginger hits puberty and turns ‘hot’. I really felt the love Bridgette had for her sister and idk... her face at the end when she kills her, knowing that she’s alone now, it always gets me! I also always loved the mum’s turnaround at the end. The whole movie she’s desperate to connect with her daughters, who are so different from her and probably what she imagined their relationship to be like. She comes across as dorky and almost annoying, but her suggestion to burn down the house, leave the dad and run away together shows that (however crazy that idea is) she really just wants her daughters to be ok, and is willing to sacrifice everything for them. Same irks with Ginger falling into the dead dog at the beginning. Why wouldn’t they just have her fall behind a bush etc?? That being said, I don’t take the first part of the movie too seriously, it’s only as the film progresses that I think it becomes bleaker and more realistic. The woman dramatically falling to her knees and screaming about her dog is definitely darkly comical. Also, I felt so bad for the janitor! If I remember correctly, he actually tries to help Bridgette at one point. 🤷🏼♀️
I wasn't a fan of this movie, just felt too awkward to me.. 🤷 but Katherine Isabelle is a total babe. Also, I love when you go on random tangents like you did with the song. 😂 great review as always brother.
Please can you review the just released BLOODY HELL (2021), a good solid Horror Comedy to start off 2021 with, that also has a fantastic lead performance by Ben O'Toole that will remind many of Bruce Campbell in Evil Dead II. Not a classic or any thing ground breaking but certainly a film that deserves the attention of the Horror Film community. It has a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes after 37 reviews including positive reviews from Hollywood Reporter and Screen Rant.
Common horror snob: This is one of my favorite horror movies (the first one) so that makes your review garbage! Lol jk you're right about the dog on the field, only thought about it on my latest watch, took me right out of it. I trust your opinion as you have seen so many horror movies, one my my favorite reviewers, thanks for all you do!!!
I know these movies are cheesy and low budget, but I've had a mad girl crush on Katherine Isabelle forever.. And hey sir! Don't slight field hockey, that was my best sport, and it's a good game. Lol calling it soccer-hockey isn't totally wrong tho..
I couldnt finish this movie. I didnt like the look of the movie and i stopped at the part where bridget gets pushed into a dogs corpse. I couldnt get over the fact that everyone seems fine with a beast running and ripping apart dogs. As someone mentioned big bad wolf, id rather watch wolf cop.
I love the first one, like the third one, and tolerate the second one! Ginger and Bridget are one of the best horror duo's!
Haven’t seen this movie in years!! Definitely need to rewatch, love Katherine Isabelle!

Those are my two favorite werewolf movies too
I like the way you talk. Word by word and easy to understand. Cool ! 😊👍🏻

Yup. That’s what I appreciated about it as well
Right on, tbh if they used cg it would've been worse and they'd lose the practical fx street cred
The first movie definitely has that low-budget charm.
Love this Movie and Franchise, i have hesitated on reviewing this film, because i love Katharine Isabelle so damn much. great video keep it up.

Yay! Ginger Snaps. I love these crappy movies!
The first is the best.

Yeah the janitor is a good guy for sure
@@sinistercinemareviews5420 poor dude!
What's your view on the 2nd and the 3rd one?
Never got into these but love the review as always
I enjoy the first two movies honestly the second one is the best one out of the series
I'd love to hear you review Santa Sangre (1989), it's an odd one. Either way thank you for all your spoiler discussions! I love them.
Great job on the video Jason!

Actually the writers said that the werewolf from the second movie is neither the kid who slept with Ginger nor the drug dealing kid
Boo
Honestly, I thought any of the puppet master films were better than this movie.
This first film was an awesome little post-9/11 post-Scream era horror film and I really found in depressing and unique.
It came out in 2000, so it was pre-9/11

Kevin Dobson yes

I was never big on this film other than katherine isabelle being hot!!!

Cool review I agree the ginger snaps franchise is nothing special not really worth watching over and over again for me.
I agree about this movie looking cheap and not in a good way. This movie has a lot of issues. Acting was good though.
i feel the same about this trilogy. overhyped in my opinion. i’d rather watch Big Bad Wolf!
That movie rules
