The double punt was actually legal though. Ball didn't cross the line of scrimmage on the first punt, and he punted the second time before he went completely across the line. Legal play per the rules in 2021.
The Seahawks have a proud punter legacy as the previous punter, Jon Ryan, was a full athlete in his own right and took full advantage of having access to a world-class training facility. He would show off his bench press skills to the linebackers and lift with the big boys. He appeared a few times on American Ninja Warrior! He was so swol as a punter that the NFL grew suspicious and made him submit to PED tests lol! Ofc he was negative. The man just knew how to train!
You should look up the time he went for it out of the Seahawks own endzone and just stuck his face mask straight into two tacklers dauntlessly in order to plow his way to the line to gain! It was a shorter snap as the Seahawks were inside the 5 yard line, so he rolled out to his right seemingly in hopes of getting some momentum and evade the rush. He must’ve saw lots of green ahead and abandoned that plan and just went for it. Pete Carrol gave him one of those looks like “I’m too impressed to be mad” lmao

Awesome video - again. Love this channel. As a couch potato fan my favourite punter ever is Reggie Roby. As a teen getting into the NFL I was obsessed with how far up he extended his leg on punts! 😂
He also does drop kickoffs every once in awhile... Like Aussie style... So fun to watch and he's messed a couple up, but for the most part he rocks em down there!!!!
Dude you impressed me with this guy his story and even the rookie MVP and being on the Pro Bowl cool. Being from Ohio I don't get to Seattle play but I do remember seeing that double kick and yeah it was fired but that was impressive and so was your choice of favorite thank you
Michael can do spirals, drop punts, drop kicks, banana kicks, reverse banana kicks and grub kicks. Most kids growing up in Australia, regardless of what code of footy they play, will learn these kicks. The fact that he can do all of them is not the amazing thing. The fact that he can do them all perfectly and under pressure is what makes Michael different. There are a lot of people in Australia that can kick a football, and most can do all the techniques..........He can do them near perfect every time. That's the difference. That is why no American punter will come close to an Australian. I mean no dis-respect to American punters, some of them are awesome and deserve their spots. However, I'm sure they can kick a spiral. Can they kick the other types of punts?
Our special team has got to be one of the best for sure. Michael Dickson, Jason Myers, Tyler Ott, Nick Bellore, Cody Barton, and Larry Izzo as the coordinator.
I just looked him up and noticed a funny and pretty wild coincidence. In his sophomore and junior years in college he average 47.4 yards per punt. Now 4 years, 296 punts and 14,023 yards as a pro later. Hes averaging 47.4 yards a punt. crazy.
He didn't make play in the NFL (spent time with the Saints and the Steelers, but I don't think he was ever on a roster.), but I always liked AJ Hughes who was a four year starter at Virginia Tech, 2012-2015. His most memorable punt, against ECU, was only 20 yards, but it was snapped over his head from the 33 and he kicked it out of the endzone. some other memorable moments were picking up a bad snap and running for a first down, I believe against Marshall, and a forced fumble against Miami when he had a picture perfect face mask on the ball tackle.
And apparently that wasn't flagged because it was blocked but that doesn't make much sense to me either cause if a qb gets a pass blocked they pick it out of the air and throw it again its a flag, so I mean punters might get that too and that might not have been a rule till now because of him which the rule change will suck cause that surely was an amazing play
The illegal man downfield is gone after the block & he punted with his foot on the line of scrimmage. Unless there was holding unseen, I am not sure what penalties should have called. It was a heads up play. His not taking the planned safety and running was ballsy too.
😂 I laughed when I heard that too and I saw his fingers as well while he was waiting for the ball to be snapped to him. Like to say gimme gimme gimme LOL
Let's not forget how, as a rookie, he was supposed to take an intentional safety but decided fuck it I'm gonna win the game right here ua-cam.com/video/JUM_FUPcf70/v-deo.html

Holy this guy wrote a whole paragraph

Yess W Isaac. Up the Seahwaks!
He spent his childhood playing kick to kick and forcems back with his mates. Like all kids in Australian neighbourhoods.
Michael Dickson and Justin Tucker. Greatest legs currently in the NFL in my opinion. Future GOATS🐐 and they're both out of the University of Texas
Yeah an odd coincidence
As a next gen seahawks fan watching Michael do his work is amazing and he is also my favorite punter

Darren Bennett was the OG breakthrough booming punter and heavy hitter. He's my guy.
Awesome video - again. Love this channel.

He is a legend! I wish it was easier to get film on him
Well he learnt to punt (kick) playing afl, it's pretty common for younger teens playing Aussie rules to have pretty good kicking skills.
That double punt was IMHO the best play in that game XD so yeah, this guy is a dog, I love him
He also does drop kickoffs every once in awhile... Like Aussie style... So fun to watch and he's messed a couple up, but for the most part he rocks em down there!!!!
I remember that on a kickoff. It went down to the 4 yard line and the returner didn’t make it to the 20. 😊
Thanks for reminding me that the loudest i ever cheered this season was on a punting play

I'm sorry I I actually said flagged not fired
@@douglashall2141 it wasnt flagged the flag was a block in the back or something

I don't think the punt was illegal, he kicked it right at the line of scrimmage

Michael Dickson is a great punter for sure wicked smart, gotta love the iq of that guy

I don't see what's so crazy about that. He's a 47.4 yard punter.
Johnny hekker is just his own person. His personality is one of the best, second only to Pat McAfee. Plus he throws dimes.
Double punt legal, kept it behind scrimmage line at 21 yards
Word is that unless all of his body and the ball was beyond the LOS the double-punt was not illegal.
NFL said that if any part of his body is on the LOS, he's allowed to punt, which his heel was on the LOS.
The only other punter I know of that won the MVP of a bowl game was Mike Mancini from Fresno State. He was the MVP of the California Bowl in 1985.
Fun Fact: many local Aussies, especially in Melbourne (the AFL Aussie Rules Capital) can kick this well
I love Michael. Double kick FOREVER!
