I was pretty apprehensive watching folks in kayaks in the ocean until I got the Hobie Outback and went out there myself. Look over my channel at the Shorts and even one video called I Almost Capsized My Hobie Outback to see more video of the stability of this kayak. Not all kayaks are sea worthy though. Enjoy Yakventures and share the channel with your friends.
Oh man lucky you! Mine was worth the money today in some pretty big winds and wind waves. I was glad I was in Hobie. Wet ride but I knew she was stable.
Oh man sorry to hear that. I can totally relate. Search my channel and like one of the first couple videos I actually talk about my PA and how I traded it for the Outback. I bet you could do the same.
It was a fun day even if the fishing wasn’t the best. I’m always impressed with both the kayaks and I think they can take rougher water than I want to go in.
The image stabalization on cameras makes it not seem as bad out there as it is. Those rocks are especially treacherous with the swell that high. You can't see when you're getting to close. 👍
That’s on my wish list but I also free dive so it’s hard to justify a dry suit when I still need a wet suit but I’m getting tired of the clammy feeling being in a wetsuit all day. What dry suit would you recommend?
Opinions will vary so I’ll give you mine. Originally I bought a PA 14 and the moment I got it on the lake I knew I would have a hard time punching thru the surf. It didn’t respond to well to my liking as well. It’s an excellent platform for bass fishing , I’ll give it that. Is my Hobie Outback the perfect ocean kayak? It works for me and I’ve put it thru the paces but I think there’s some others that are specifically tailored made for just the ocean in rough conditions. I got a comment the other day and it was very detailed in the Hobie Revo and Old Town bigwater 132 PDL. I’d sure like to test that bigwater and I think that might be the top pick but for now I’m satisfied with my Outback. I wear a wetsuit and I’m a diver so getting wet is no big deal if I were to get the Outback upside down 😁.
Nice video just got myself an Outback and feeling excited. Quick question, where do you launch you kayak in Santa Cruz? I’ve never been fishing there and thought I would give it a go soon. Thanks in advance
My buddies kayak is a Santa Cruz. I’ve personally never been to Santa Cruz California so unfamiliar with any launch spots. Good luck with your Hobie Outback your going to love it!
I have a Compass. The hull design is quite capable in rough conditions. Possibly moreso than the Outback since it doesn't have a forward hatch to take on water.
Having a full neoprene wetsuit on sure makes it nice if and when you roll your yak. I also spearfish off my yak so I’m comfortable in the ocean as well as on the yak. The wetsuit is a game changer.
I would have to agree but we were perfectly safe and in a full wetsuit. Appreciate your comment and thank you for watching and your support of the channel. I’ve been charged by a grizzly bear in Alaska and dragged offshore with a sea lion that I played tug of war with while spearfishing so this kayak fishing is toned way down.
Very impressive what little kayaks can do...thank you. Gives more confidence in kayak fishing after watching it.!!!

I have a PA 14 and been out in water similar I was astounded how well it handled it
Awesome. Hobie makes great ocean kayaks.
Excellent! I just bought a 2022 Outback.

I had a 2022 outback, sold & now have a PA 360 14, after watching this, I some how regret it, just love the outback, PA’s are so heavy ‘

I bought a pa360 and have it for sale right now so I can get the Outback
@@kirkshammett94 I have the outback and a revo 13. The revo handles the ocean conditions a lot better in my opinion
I Like the mudhole rod! Very nice!
Good eye and yes I’m very impressed with the mudhole rod.
My cousin makes a great rod with that mudhole blank and it’s my favorite rod
good catch 🎣

We wear wetsuits and so far my buddy has been rolled twice. 🫣😜
@@yakventures9544 Shitty, I have a dry suit.

Wow! So if I may ask, a PA 14 can't handle waves like this? I've heard that it's the most stable kayak when it comes to going far from shore.

what is your opinion about hobie compass???
Great kayak. Very light and stable.
hi, do you think the hobie compass is capable of this? is it worth taking?
Yes for sure. In one of my ocean videos we have a guy fishing from a Hobie compass and he really likes it because it’s light and very stable.

was this sunset bay?
Yes it was. Tight lines.
Pass on that weather.
There are better days for sure.
Too dangerous for me

Sorry a fish is not worth your life.
