Also called Baekdu Mountain Tiger, the highest mountain on the Korean Peninsula, it inhabits all over China and Russia. This animal was considered a symbol of the Korean Peninsula. Just over 100 years ago, a huge number of tigers lived on the Korean Peninsula. According to the records of the Joseon Dynasty, there is a story that a tiger broke in and bit the calf and jumped over the fence. At that time, there was also a separate tiger subjugation unit called Cheokhogapsa. At that time, the movement of the tiger was so agile that it was difficult to get hit with a gun, and it is said that there were many cases where it ran away even if it was hit by an arrow. Tigers were called mountain gods by the people of the Joseon Dynasty, and you can imagine how scared they must have been. If he had met a tiger while crossing the mountain, he would have froze on the spot and died trembling in fear. However, after the Japanese colonial period, tigers were hunted and extinct on the Korean Peninsula due to the tiger extermination project. It is unfortunate that this magnificent and bizarre creature, the tiger, went extinct on the Korean Peninsula, but it is better than meeting a tiger while hiking in Korea, where more than 70% of the mountain range is mountainous. However, in South Korea, the number of black bear populations is increasing through a project to increase the population of black bears in Mt. Jirisan, and in North Korea, the number of tigers in Mt. Baekdu is increasing through a tiger restoration project.

Such an incredible animal. Almost inspirational. Part about their musculature was very interesting, never heard about that before, but of course the fact that tigers are extremely strong wasn't a secret to me.
They've always been my favorite animal, and even though I've known almost all these facts, it's always fun to watch videos stating the things I already knew, what a gorgeous wondrous thing.
well, felines are the most powerful mammals in terms of muscular anatomy, their articulations and muscle structure make them able to be fast and strong in a perfect balance, being able to stay on hind legs and fight with their front paws.
You're ignoring the thickness of fur and fat content. Bears are required to gain lots of fat for their hibernation, tigers don't migrate so they don't have the requirements or luxury to gain that kind of fat. Bears are a combination of all three fat, muscle, fluff. Yes, they're heavier, sturdier, Hardier, and bigger in general but they're not pound for pound. If we compare body builders, the one with more fat (as little as there is) will look bigger if both contenders have similar comparisons in muscle percentage for their size
Fun tiger fact : tigers can actually hold their breath underwater a LOT more time than any dolphin? I can imagine that, I hope India can preserve their national animal forever thats why protection is soo important! This is a treasure that is more valuable than people can imagine.
A tiger hunter in the then Dutch East Indies once told me that he had to shoot a tiger that was becoming a 'nuisance' and a danger for local villagers. The villagers had given him a big dead buffalo calf to be used as prey to lure that tiger from the jungle. He had put this prey in front of a tree close to his hiding place from where he hoped to shoot the tiger. He went away for a short time and was about to take his position, when he noticed the buffalo calf had disappeared... When he went to the tree to have a look, he noticed blood dripping from above. When he looked higher up the tree, he saw the calf hanging in the fork of the tree many yards from the ground! And that was the smaller subspecies of the Tiger that lived on Sumatra...
I never understood why they say lions are the king of of jungle when lions don't even live in the jungle? Tigers Sr the true kings of the jungle they actually live there and are apex predators there. Lions live in the savannah.
Lions live in prides like a royal family Male lions have more attitude than tigers, eventually tigers are not seen as much as lions by people. lion was the most widespread big cat years ago including jungles habitat Im a tiger fan but I think the epithet is so pertinent

To see a large Tiger is an amazing site. It is so big, so strong, so graceful, so athletic and so beautiful you wonder why its design was done with such a magnificance of art. Kind of odd that a predator should look this good.
I was in big cat sanctuary once in South Africa, there was 2 rescued tiger cubs about 3 - 4 months old. One was chilled, the other was more exuberant and wanted to play fight. The paws at that age looked bigger than a human hand! The strength in the shoulders and triceps as it was trying to grapple me was crazy, it was stronger than most full size dogs I've handled in my life.
The raw power and feats of a tiger alone is the reason why they are both feared and respected in all of Asia. India sees the tiger as the most feared animal in their country and the tiger has been featured in their mythology. For example, India has the weretiger - like a werewolf but it is anthromorphic man-eating tiger. Korea has the tiger as their code of arms similar to the American Bald Eagle. China has the tiger as apart of their zodiac calender and is one of the 5 animal fighting styles in Kungfu. The tiger is listed as one of the 4 celestial beasts alongside the dragon, the pheonix, and the tortoise. Speaking of which, the tiger is often paired fighting the dragon as the tiger is seen as the only natural creature powerful enough to challenge the mythical serpent. 🐯🐅

A lion is majestic as well striking a pose but there's something about a tiger's eyes that are "all business" & that business is to be taken seriously at all times. They can only be considered when many, many studies that have all came to the same conclusion. Which in this case, there has been many studies done on tiger and lion bite force. Many individual adult animals were tested. The results were adult tigers on average bit down with 1,050psi force. The average adult lion bit down with an average of 650psi. That is the results of dozens and dozens of studies and is considered fact by everybody who knows about them. To say there has never been an adult lion bite force measured is saying you know everything about this. Which we all know is not true and only made yourself look like a know it all idiot. Well obviously with so many saying otherwise, these two sources are incorrect. You don't have to be an Einstein to understand the results of the many outweigh the results of the one or very few. Anyone ever see the National Geographic when the dude is riding on top of a very large Asian elephant and the Bengal tiger comes out of nowhere leaps about 15 feet at the guy and just missed because of the elephants quick reaction!! The Tiger had no fear of the elephant and the elephant was definitely startled!! Also I honestly believe that a male Tiger would destroy a male Lion!!! I seen an animal show and an Asian male Tiger took down an Asian Water Buffalo which weighs a couple of thousand pounds!! It would take 3 or 4 female lions to take down a Buffalo 🐃!!!
ACtually the tiger didn't miss. The man lost a finger.
That leap was perhaps 10-12 feet. Asian elephants are smaller. None the less, that was terrifying.

I love tigers they're so beautiful
I was in big cat sanctuary once in South Africa, there was 2 rescued tiger cubs about 3 - 4 months old. One was chilled, the other was more exuberant and wanted to play fight. The paws at that age looked bigger than a human hand! The strength in the shoulders and triceps as it was trying to grapple me was crazy, it was stronger than most full size dogs I've handled in my life.
They are so powerful their legs can keep them standing even when they are dead, and they can drag a cow over a 7 foot wall.
They are amazingly beautiful creatures.

Tigers & leopards by far the most beautiful & powerful animals in the world. Look at the 5:30 mark where the small tiger is laying on papa's or mama's back,, could there be a more majestic photo where an animal tells you with it's eyes,, "yes,, I am the true king of my domain & there are few living creatures in the world that can challenge that being the same size as me". A lion is majestic as well striking a pose but there's something about a tiger's eyes that are "all business" & that business is to be taken seriously at all times. One might calm the wildness of a tiger attempting to domesticate it but you will never completely take the wild out the animal,, it lurks deep within never to be fully denied. A healthy tiger is the epitome of magnificent..

That is pretty much the most idiotic comment so far. Ok the facts are that there has been many studies on this on many individual animals. Facts on not based on one or two studies or test. You obviously have a very little amount of knowledge about this topic or you would know. Recently there has been one or two sources saying a lions bite force is 1,000psi. Well obviously with so many saying otherwise, these two sources are incorrect. You don't have to be an Einstein to understand the results of the many outweigh the results of the one or very few. That is just common sense. So the facts in this world show the lions bite force is considerably lower than that of the tigers. One shouldn't be foolish enough to believe just one or two sources.
