I was watching this video as I was doing chores, feeding our animals. We have one dog that constantly jumps and barks at the fence of the kennel and then bites my other dog trying to get her to misbehave. I started telling her no and would walk away from the kennel. Every time I would approach she would act up again. After 15 or 20 times of doing this she finally went and laid down. I was able to walk into the kennel without her jumping at the fencing or biting at my other dog. Great video Steve. I wish the owner would pay attention and hush. The pony feels her negativity. There are times when we need to be quiet and listen. Little pony's eyes went from being terrified to soft and attentive.
I agree there was too much talking and not enough watching and listening. That said, I think the woman wanted to be sure she explained everything she was experiencing with the pony and probably should have spoken with Steve and had him ask all those questions before hand. For example she would say " he does that here where his back end is touching the wall, but there's no wall when he's outside". She probably should have discussed what he did inside and also what she was seeing him do outside before the training started so she could benefit more from the instruction. Great video with great learning for all of us. Thank you.

Hello. I have been watching you work with horses and ponies and you are remarkable !!! I'm now a new subscriber. I'm looking forward to seeing more and more of your videos. I have experience working with Arabians, racehorses, Quarter Horses and Standardbreds.
She did very well, said Steve, when she went in. One does not need to be silent to observe well, and if it helped her to be present by talking her fears out, then that is part of the healing for them both.
Those women are just on “transmit only” mode: pushing out their own negative thoughts and attitudes whilst you are trying to generate something positive. You ask “Did you notice that lovely change?” I don’t think they saw it!
They certainly did see and were asking questions, responding to what Steve was doing and saying. The owner did very well, according to Steve, with trying out the techniques with the pony while he was there. Sometimes people need to talk out their trauma, fears, thoughts… in order to be able to focus on what is coming… like shifting out the old while letting in the new.
I love the way you sit in your hanging chair and describe what you'll be about in your video. Your accent sounds so genuine. I hope you didn't have to work too hard to perfect it. LOL
From what I have heard Steve say in another video, it is to put your thumb into the side of the mouth so the horse opens their jaws a little, which apparently helps them relax. I can relate, because a tense person will often clamp their teeth shut and the tension can diminish if one works on easing the jaw muscles.
Great stuff! This pony's colour immediately reminded me of one that starred in several TV series in the 1960s! That pony was called "Poly" and it was a French story, created by Cecile Aubry and her son Mehdi starred as the little boy who rescued Poly (from Polizon, meaning mischievous). Cecile Aubry also created the TV series "Belle and Sebastian", about a little boy who befriended a Pyrenean Mountain Dog while on holiday with his grandfather in the Pyrenees. Perhaps people will remember that story better? "Poly" is on UA-cam! And interesting that this one has a similar name! Steve's work with Polo reminds me of how Monty Roberts trains horses, also wild mustangs. Although he uses a round-pen, as many of you will know, where he does Join-Up. Steve's way looks like he follows the same principle, just on a rope.
Steve has him following him like a puppy dog.So precious💝💝💝

They certainly did see and were asking questions, responding to what Steve was doing and saying.
The owner did very well, according to Steve, with trying out the techniques with the pony while he was there.
Sometimes people need to talk out their trauma, fears, thoughts… in order to be able to focus on what is coming… like shifting out the old while letting in the new.
wonderful share.......
Beautifully done🥰
Yes, the pony was pretty feral. But a significant part of the problem here was the owner. This is often the case.
Enjoyed this episode. Love and God bless
Lovely pony. I don't suppose you often have to compete with a pony 's toy ball!
How has he done? Are there any Polo updates? What a cutie!!!🥰
I love the way you sit in your hanging chair and describe what you'll be about in your video. Your accent sounds so genuine. I hope you didn't have to work too hard to perfect it. LOL
Really great stuff here! I am addicted to people who treat horses in this manner.
Steve what does crack his mouth mean?
He is a lovely pony, but he is only a baby, and must be very frightened! 3 homes, and no mother or herd, how frightening is that!
I noticed that you forgot and left your sunglasses on. Yahoo me ,yes I have been watching. Lol, all the best wishes for you all.
