This was so heart-warming to see Charlie's anxiety dissipate. Good catch about his eye. Once that was confirmed and the change made as to how to lead him, he was cool, calm, collected and a very happy boy. He's a gorgeous horse, too. I particularily love how silky his mane and tail are. Happy trails, Charlie!
As always, you are amazing with horses. And I mean amazing!! It’s fascinating to watch how calm a horse is after the owner says the horse is unmanageable.
Breaks my heart for this beautiful animal. He was trying so hard. Many thanks to you Steve for finding the problem. She needs to paint those stalls white. That black is horrible.
I agree w the two or three that pointed out the black color of the stalls. It made them look like a big dark predator, quite ominous. Paint a nice oat or barley color, calm and neutral. Wonderful video. Thank you.
My heart is so full watching your videos. There is so much kindness and wisdom in the way you work with horses and people. Thanks to both you and Tanya for sharing your work with us all. You are changing the world for the better one horse and one video at a time!
The only horse I ever had was a POA, got him at 6 months old, hadn't been handled. I had no one to help me with him, so we learned together. I got him broke to ride with no issues. He never did pick up on reining cues but he did move when you rubbed your feet against his side. Left, right, backwards, etc. He did "quirky" things, like insisting on running his lip across the top of your boot after you mount, before a ride. His head was always moving when we rode, as if he didn't want to miss a thing. Ignorance is bliss. He was blind as a bat. But, thankfully, he trusted me and everyone else he came into contact with. I found that out when he turned 5 and was told never to ride him again as it was dangerous. Shortly after, he was diagnosed with wobbles. So, we never did get to go on another ride. Point is, he didn't know he was blind. I didn't know he was blind. Together, we figured out how to make it work. I have high hopes for Charlie and his companion.
Love this horse 🐎 bless him but omg I cried because of blindness on left and it's truly heartbreaking 😢 he is such a beautiful horse in every way honestly and his name Charlie I love too this is one of the only videos so far where I have cried as he is just so special I am just a very soppy very sensitive person big time always have been anyway another excellent video Steve and Tanya brilliant 👏 x x
Aww what a beautiful boy and sad that he’s got that eye problem. Well done Steve for discovering his problem and helping the owner to understand how to deal with it. He’s lucky to have such a loving owner who clearly wants what’s best for him. Good luck Charlie and I hope you’re feeling less nervous now sweet boy. ❤
Im an older woman now, but I love watching your videos. So good to know things just in case we have to get a horse if gas prices continue to go up. I have always loved horses
I know what that's like as well, I'm a licensed driver but I always remain focused on the road and traffic around me. Charley is such a beautiful horse and it's a shame he has this handicap.
You knew long before you knew. You were speaking to him and letting him know where you were. You started on his right side and with most horses you start on the left. From now on Charlie's life will be much easier thanks to you.
That's an amazing ending! it seems like she's adopted your attitude. I have a feeling he always was a good horse but his changing eye sight altered that little by little. Your a God Send Steve!! God made her call you! Someone could have gotten hurt, and I'm sure you saved a life!!!
My first pony was 11.2 shetland x who was totally blind on one eye. He was amazing, bomb proof on the roads, could do small jumps and pony games. He was only young.
I too have a bad eye. I saw how he kept turning his head to "see" you better with his good eye. He couldn't tell what you wanted him to do. It was frustrating for him. Its good you found that out for the owners. It's sad because he's a beautiful horse. But he is big & strong & out of fear he could do serious harm. You showed differently her how to handle him with his handicap. Well Done 👏 Master Steve!
One of your finest videos, Steve. Really loved seeing you find the problem and make a whole world of difference in this horse's life. Very, very moving.
I found you while surfing You tube. I truly enjoy watching you help so many horses and there owners. I am not a horse owner and, I think I missed out on having a wonderful relationship with another animal. My dog passed away at the age of 19 and I truly now that if I would have been a great owner. I truly enjoy watching you help all the horses.. Don't give up working and helping the horses. You truly have a wonderful family and home, again you truly love helping the horses . I think you and your family are wonderful people for helping these animals. I live here in America and love seeing the wonderful countryside of Wales and England so please keep up all the good work. Judy
I'm so glad that you discovered his problem! Charlie might feel better about his stall if the owner painted the walls of the doorway white. Also maybe get an additional bright light on a stand set up for him? Best of luck to Charlie and his owner!
What a sweet horse Charlie is. A real "Gentleman", just scared. Seeing his relationship with his caring owner was lovely too - what a bond between them in spite of times he's almost injured her badly by mistake.
Thanks Steve and Tanya...very sad that Charlie has lost his sight in one eye and probably not safe to ride. He is a Gorgeous horse. At least the owner now knows why he had been behaving like he had and can be aware of his issues. 🥰Sharon.
Wales is such a beautiful place and I love your accent. What I really love is your videos and your way with one of my favorite animals! Thank you for treating them so well. 👍
Yup!!!…I am here again!!….sad the horse can’t see from the left!..love you so much…really show us some great scenery!!…great stamina!! U go!!🥰Charlie is on….
I really enjoy watching the transformation. So many misunderstood fearful horses. I guess it’s the way they handle them but Amish horses and mules always pull away from your hand. I don’t think there is time for the reward there. The way they back them up is painful to watch. They have no time to listen to someone tell them a better way. In fairness some are true horseman and try to learn, enough don’t tho. If I can teach one Amishman how to teach his horse to backup I’d be happy.
Thank God Steve you figured out his sight issue. Leading him on the side he can see will make all the difference for not plowing through her! Now knowing his problem and always keeping it in mind will keep him less freightened! The poor guy. How scary things have been for him! Another brilliant video!❤❤
FB page on Endo the Blind Horse, eyes removed, completely trusting. calm, ridable, loved and treasured. They do exhibitions of his amazing capabilities.
I am so happy to have found your channel and I am binging your videos right now! You said Charley looks like a horse you had once - Sandy. Can you believe, my favorite horse 25 years ago, was “Candy” - and looked just like Charley. Flaxen mane and a white stripe. She was an old times Morgan mix so she had a stout neck. She was so safe, any child could ride her. Thanks for the memories! God bless you for helping these people with their horses.
I was willing you to keep going. That head up resistance I had to deal with many years ago with a little horse with impaired vision. It's heartbreaking what you have to go through before gaining the right level of trust to be able to go riding as safely as possible. So pleased for the horse that you discovered the problem so quickly and were able to help it. What a wonderful job you did. I'm sure the horse is much happier now, not to mention his doting owner.
Charlie is such a gorgeous horse - anyone know what breed or cross he is? He almost looks like he has some smaller draft blood in there somewhere. It's such a shame that he can't be ridden safely due to his vision problems, but he is obviously a beloved and well-cared for pasture pet! If he were out in public his owner would receive loads of compliments on his beautiful coat, mane & tail. Ooooh! What a TAIL!🤩
Steve at one point when you were turned to speak to the lady, Charlie actually backed up on his own, it really surprised me. It is too bad you did not see it. I think Charlie should be taken to the Veterinarian and have his left eye looked at, perhaps there is something that can be done for him. Don’t miss that chance ! You’re doing a beautiful job on Charlie Steven !!
Aww it's so sad to see Charlie trying to follow your lead and answer your requests but holding back because of his reduced vision . I hope there is a happy resolution for him.😘💞💝
I noticed 2 things: 1) after you confirmed reduced or no vision in low light in the left eye you stood talking away while standing on his left side while it makes sense to me that Charlie would have been more comfortable with you standing on his right where he can see you and 2) presumably that owner is paying for your expertise - somebody should tell her that when her mouth is working, her ears aren't. I missed what you were saying a few times because she talked over you with some self-soothing chatter - I hope that can be taken as constructive criticism. But she must have been watching and listening because she surely did well with Charlie after your insights and training. Thank you for the great work you do.
Steve, I’m not elevating you to sainthood but I think you follow two of the prime rules for life. Do as you would be done unto. Then the other important rule……walk in another’s shoes or in this case hooves, so you understand what the problem is. Great work.
Another great video I just finished the pony with the singing lady. I do wish you could get a Bluetooth micro phone or something because it is so hard to hear sometimes. The truth is I always know what you may say . I watched Buck the movie last night and it was wonderful. Wow you have some much is Buck in you not just with the horses but with the people. Steve you are just wonderful and genuinely tactful, never insulting but educating.
Steve, I love watching animals in general, especially wildlife programmes, but have had no experience and almost no opportunity for contact with horses. After watching horse videos by various people most of them became rather boring after a while. All except for two - one of which was yours! Thank you
i know a lot of blind horses who ride very well. one horse I used to ride was annie and she is blind in one eye its been removed and she isn't afraid of anything, she is a saddlebred, and she is one of the main lesson horses. She is good for anyone and just a happy go lucky kind of horse, and goes anywhere you point her too, she is like never moody, just such a fun horse to be around. She is a little more leary on that one side as any horse would be but she does a little bit of everything.
We bought an Appaloosa when she 16, and figured out after few weeks that she couldn’t see at all at night. Her previous owners never knew that. It explains some of the accidents she had before we bought her and after. She was adept at getting around after dark and learning her environment.
Love your videos!! So much to learn again and again, this proves again you have to consider the whole horse, observing their moves and behavior which you do so well! Thanks for sharing all your knowledge! Where can one buy your tie clips?
I had a horse blind in 1 eye. No problem. Just lead them in the eye where they can see you, and be aware they can't see you coming from the blind side, and that they don't see obstacles that are on their blind side. Just help them, be aware .
Steves first impulse about the eyes where absolutely right. How fascinating! Just about to see the rest of the video. Tanya, you got really nervous when the horse walked so far from the camera, or was that the reason? You´re good videographer Tanya. He is so frightened. The poor thing. Seen it all now: And in retrospective it´s so obvious the problem with the eye. Well done! Wonderful video! Sweet horse.

Absolutely lovely - the love is felt through video- thank you!
Wonderful elegant comments for Steve very heart warming.Steve does fantastic work glad he found out about the horse handi cap
Poor horse! Do glad she said she was keeping him!
Such a silky beautiful tail color exceptional on his coat
Dear Charlie, how stressful life must have been! Things will improve. ❤😊
That would help everyone I would think. She might not have thought of it, so let’s hope she sees your recommendation.
You are working in horse-braille! Well done again owner can learn what she can do to make her Charlie much calmer! Beautiful Charlie! ❤
exactly, i don't own a horse but your videos and techniques are fantastic.
I agree w the two or three that pointed out the black color of the stalls. It made them look like a big dark predator, quite ominous. Paint a nice oat or barley color, calm and neutral. Wonderful video. Thank you.
Charlie is very lucky that you visited and that his mom loves him just the way he is.
Safer horse, safer owner thanks to your effort. Charlie will have better days and less daily stress. Thank you for sharing.🐴
One of the most gorgeous animal, countryside exquisite and lovely owners!
Watching other trainers your simply the kindest and best.
That little horse is gold. Once he figures out how to live with the changes I bet his anxiety drops a LOT.
Hes beautiful and she loves Charlie. He loves her too.
Steve understands horses. Poor horse to be blind in one eye. Thank goodness he is in a good loving home.
My heart is so full watching your videos. There is so much kindness and wisdom in the way you work with horses and people. Thanks to both you and Tanya for sharing your work with us all. You are changing the world for the better one horse and one video at a time!

He's absolutely beautiful!
Thank you for identifying the problem as well as helping her to be safer with Charlie.
Much respect from Lexington, Ky.
Very interesting. So glad you helped her and made handling safer for Charlie and the owner. Thank you!
God bless you and Tanya. Your videos are relaxing to watch and heartwarming. Thank you for sharing 🐎
I know what it is like. To be blind in one eye. Even someone approaching , without making a sound startles me. The horse I imagine to. God bless.
I know what that's like as well, I'm a licensed driver but I always remain focused on the road and traffic around me. Charley is such a beautiful horse and it's a shame he has this handicap.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Steven usually isn’t as chatty with the horses as with this one 😅

Yeah, I noticed that too 😊
Omg. First scene of no pupillary response on the left eye, poor horse. Fortunately they found you😊

Poor pony, what a shame,he's a real handsome guy. You did great work with him.
What a beautiful horse, and you were able to make his life better.

Omg Steve! Just seeing this … I love your ways and work more and more with every video
I rode a totally blind barrel horse. She knew exactly where the barrels should be, but became very confused if they weren't set up correctly.
I don’t have horses but just enjoy your interactions in helping them.
Nice to see how well the owner and Charlie are doing at the end! Bravo!
I'm so glad that you discovered his problem! Charlie might feel better about his stall if the owner painted the walls of the doorway white. Also maybe get an additional bright light on a stand set up for him? Best of luck to Charlie and his owner!

I’m not even a horse kinda bloke, but I love your channel, great stuff. Such a great man🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thanks Steve and Tanya...very sad that Charlie has lost his sight in one eye and probably not safe to ride. He is a Gorgeous horse. At least the owner now knows why he had been behaving like he had and can be aware of his issues. 🥰Sharon.

Beautiful tail and color!!…..it’s a good day to film!!❤️❤️
Love Steve's training methods...makes tons of sense to format a way to communicate with these awesome animals❤❤ horses...respect

You should have a warning sign with this video!!!
Sad video, I started to fill up( silly bugger)😢
Nice one both, hope Charlie has a great life!
I agree with another follower who suggested painting the stalls a lighter color.
Love it ! My kind of horse play. Hard work happy horse!🥰💞🎀
Wow, only 3:30 in and, what a beautiful sight 🥰. Makes me want to visit that region just for this part of the road.
Beautiful farmland..
They are great videos

Amazing work Steve 🎉
A wonderful example of patient persistence and empathy. Beautiful creature, who will have a better life now that his difficulty is understood.
Bless you
You are Amazing
As usual, beautiful work. Gorgeous horse. Sad about the eye but his life will be easier now that it’s a given. ❤️

i think it just depends on the situation
Love the t-shirt! To me, it first read Get to the teet, which of course is perfect for foal season. :-)
Wonderful.
We bought an Appaloosa when she 16, and figured out after few weeks that she couldn’t see at all at night. Her previous owners never knew that. It explains some of the accidents she had before we bought her and after. She was adept at getting around after dark and learning her environment.
Paint the stable/gate posts in high contrast black and white stripes?
Love your videos!! So much to learn again and again, this proves again you have to consider the whole horse, observing their moves and behavior which you do so well! Thanks for sharing all your knowledge! Where can one buy your tie clips?
Watching your vids to train myself to a better attitude 😉
I had a horse blind in 1 eye. No problem. Just lead them in the eye where they can see you, and be aware they can't see you coming from the blind side, and that they don't see obstacles that are on their blind side. Just help them, be aware .

Amazing
Awesome ❤
