I’ve ridden plenty of these and they are peaky, heavy and very wristy, but have one of the most confident inspiring front ends you’ll ever experience from a bike from this era. And of course looks are always subjective however these are unanimously regarded as one of the nicest looks Superbikes from the late ‘90’s. Good honest review lads!
I still have mine. It’s hilarious. Every time I go out on her, she puts a smile on my face…
Still looks gorgeous. I had a green and purple one back in the early 2000’s 👍🏻
Gobert/Russel/Reynolds/Yanagawa did wonders on the ZXR/ZX-7 Kawasaki. Great to watch them.
Muzzy prepped ZX 7RR far far diff then this PIG !!!..
Best series on yt. Thank you guys for your time and effort. All the best
I love a ZXR/ ZX7R. The engine is weak but the chassis is confidence inspiring.
Probably the most popular bike at the Manx every year for the classic superbike,, nice bike and plenty of performance parts,, get a zx9 B1/2 engine installed,,☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️ from northern Ireland
I've got a p6, and I love it. I use it every summer and just go out with a big smile on my face and enjoy it plus it gets loads of attention. 😊
It’s been great fun reading the mag and watching these episodes concurrently. Personally I like to watch and then read, in that order. Strangely they do compliment each other. Great piece, guys 👌
Still a beautiful bike to this day.. I have it’s earlier incarnation in my collection, a 1990 ZXR750 H2, in of course, green/white/blue 😊💚 It’s my favourite bike, and the last I’d ever sell..
I had 3 of these. Drop dead gorgeous. Silky smooth throttle, you're right about the power band. I remember Eric Bostrom beating it up un AMA/WSBK at Laguna Seca. The loves of my life. I'd buy another in a heartbeat.
What this bike is, is MILES away from a Muzzy prepped ZX 7 RR.. million miles !!
Eric Bostrom, but yeah
I rode my mates new one when I let him ride my 1998 R1.....it didn't feel very special and was pretty wristy. I was very happy to get back on my R1, a couple of months later my mate bought an R1 ! Looked nice.
I had a black one with silver and yellow detailing. I added a full Akro, magnesium dymags, nitron rear shock, harris rearsets, AP 6 pot calipers and narrow track superbike discs, brembo brake mc and a zx636 throttle to give a quick action throttle. Loved that bike but got older and preferred a more upright riding position.
It's a tad better than Zx6r.. however handles excellently, had such fun riding 😊 Zx6r was fast top end but under 8000 rpm was lacking
Good old Glen Richards - I loved my team green bikes when I first started riding IL4s. Was the underdog story when this bike was running rings around the thous in BSB. I remember when PB did a lightweight project ZX7R to see how much additional performance it could muster in road trim. Bit lardy, but I'm guessing that's what made it a good road bike.
Had a 1990 ZX10r and this thing intimidated me until actually racing one. Looks evil all day long all day strong.
Loved my p6, it was an inter County ballistic missile. Fantastic front end.
Wsb teams had these running at 160bhp/160kg.
My first supersport bike i boucht almost 20 years ago..
I bought the red & purple one in 1996. Beautiful bike … but heavy
I'm thinking of creating an event for the ZX like I did for the Fireblade at Silverstone /Donington
I have both zx7r and rsv Mille R. I am a slow rider, but at the track i ended up being faster and happier on the kawa. More suitable for beginner's more stable not aggressive at all. But i understand your view. It's too heavy to be used as a 600cc and definitely too weak to be ridden as a 1000cc.
The front side kinda looks like today's Motogp bikes, with winglets instead of those ram air holes
Got slingshot
S rad an k5 750 all great fun.
An fast for what they r
Great review, now that you've bagged the shit out of it hopefully they come off these stupid high prices here in Aussie and I'll get another puple/ green combo.
❤❤❤❤❤
Most 600 750 u gotta wk at.
Met jm sound bloke an bruce at cadwell.
Top blokes😊
I have one i have converted to a track day bike. I stuffed a ZX9R engine in it, that really helps pulling this fat lady along. Plus of course shedding alot of weight, not just lights and other stuff, but ZX10R wheels, front and rear end also. But in stock form she is heavy and sloooow.
Bollocks! I raced this bike against GSXr 1000 and R1 and beat them!
What did they do to the sbk though?
Them days they could change so much from the road bike they can't change nowadays.
The zx7 is a pre srad era bike going up against the gsxr 1000 k3, its a lamb to the slaughter.
I wish i'd chosen this instead of the new 636 i bought when i passed my test in 2002....which is still lying in a sorry state since i dumped it in the shed for a new fireblade in 2008. One day i will make an effort to resurrect that pile of rubber and aluminium lol
Best looking bike of all of them but not the fastest. A mate of mine had one back in 05 and my 636 was faster even down low. I still lust after one for some reason.
Yeh I've only ridden one once but was unfortunately let down by that engine. It had nothing at all to offer anywhere until the very end and even then that wasn't anything that exciting. Plus it just felt so heavy too which didn't help that engine neither. Great looking bike though, they should have made this with the ZX9R engine too in my opinion.
Come ride any of mine
Zx7r might not drive the best and might not have the best engine but on looks alone i would have a puke 🤢 green 💚 zx7r over the others. I would not mind a Srad either
obsolete when new, still obsolete
COME ON.. the bike is a PIG... see if you can take a spin on a Muzzy ZX 7RR .. lets move on please ..to something worthwhile !!
