Out by the open sea, you advised me a couple of years ago. And it works for me. That trip I catch even my first halibut from shore. Nice episode again. Thnx
Those Mackerel reminded me of my childhood holidays in Cornwall...We had bona-fide 2lbers there back in the late 70s,80s...My old grandad used to call them Ocean Goers lol...Happy days fresh smoking them on the Beach.. Cheers Billy....Cheers for the great video again 👍 👏
Mackerel fishing in Cornwall where I live can still be very good and the odd 2 lb one can still be had from time to time, great sport on light tackle caught individually.
I love mackerel fishing, provided it's one at a time and not by the string load. Tasty, great bait, and they go like the clappers on light gear. Another fabulous video - I think Nat Geo should be knocking on your door 🙂
Hi Paul. I don't see the point in going to Norway. If all you're going to do is stand on a pair, and fish the same Mark that everybody else does. It is actually more difficult to find these places, the most people would imagine! Thanks brother 😁👌
I went off eating fish for several months! Couldnt stand the smell or eating it! I started to smoke mackerel in a little smoker and they are absolutely bloody delicious! What an amazing fish! If you don´t eat it, other fish will! LOL
Ain't it so? Was a time when we fished land locked salmon called Kokanee in Pacific northwest waters of Washington. Ya gitcha a pot and throw in some whole kernel corn, a box of cornmeal, and a can of minced Mackerel, maybe with some special oils thrown in for measure.like Anise. Stir that all up and fling it across the water with a salad spoon a 'chummin''. A kernel of corn on a small hook for a tender mouthed Kokanee cast along the thin chum line. What fun. Schools would pass by and the fishing was a frenzy. Then nothing for a while. The recipe was dead without Mackerel. For your distance casting you might want a Trebuchet to fling the chum.
Yes, isn't that just the way it went everywhere! Unfortunately the powers that be, ignore these problems just so they can line their own pockets. What are you going to do brother, thanks 😁👌
For me cod is the stinky one, they're just nasty. Always defecating everywhere 🤢. Nice mackerel! They really do get big here, I caught many weighing almost 2kg. They're like baby tuna especially if you get one on every hook on the feathers. Great video as always Billy! See you on the beach!
My friend got back from saltsturmen the other week and as you said fishing was hard in the fjords Im out to saltsturmen on the 30th for a week so hopefully fishing pick up
Looks good - I've caught mackerel of 1kg+ in Malangen - amazing fight, feels like something much bigger. We've fished Arctic Norway every year for the past 20 years (apart from COVID time) and we were wondering if it was worth trying further south - is the fishing around Trondheim as good as it is around Tromsø? In particular we love big coalfish - my PB is over 15kg, so getting to something like that would be great. I've actually posted a video of one of us catching a big coalfish on a fly rod - it is pretty intense!
@@Billyfishing_watch yeah Brandon has quality this year,,, I’d usually wait till September but the quality is about now,, just need the weather to go pull a net first the sandeels
Thanks again for sharing your fishing adventures. I'm sorry if you have answered this question before but when you travel Norway do you speak Norwegian wherever possible?, I plan to visit myself and I know Norwegian people in general can speak good English however what level of Norwegian do you speak?, also what Norwegian phrases would you recommend to get by and show the natives that efforts to speak Norwegian is being made?. Thanks and sorry for the off topic questions. Keep making these videos 👍👍
Low water is always a good point to start! Because you can assess where all the snugs are. But sometimes you just need to roll the dice, and fish whatever way is possible! Thanks Brother 😁👌
Great place, nice session. I hate wee coalies, disgusting smelly little buggers (except when I can't catch anything else, which this year has been quite bloody often). How beautiful is Norway? It's on the bucket list. See you on the beach Billy.
Any advice on not getting the leader knot from stopping line in cast. Just trying to get into beach fishing.my leader jeeps catching when i am trying to cast. I presume a multiplier reel wouldnt have this issus as the line peels off parallel to leader knot.
@Billyfishing_watch casting 60g spinners and 2oz leads. My main line Is 25lb line with 35lb shock leader. I probably have it set up wrong but the knot is always catching.

Hi Niall. Potato, potato! It's the same thing really. No worries brother, of course you can. Thanks bud😁👌
Hi Billy, Do you still Ike Jime (fully bleed) the fish you are going to use for bait? is it not better to keep the blood in?
