Hi bud. You can catch halibut on smaller baits, absolutely no problem! But I'm always trying to catch the biggest fish I can't. And using an oversized bait is one way to do that. Thanks Brother 😁👌
@ I’ve seen the size of some of those halibut in Norway on other videos as well as yours , they can get huge by the looks of it, easily scoffing baits that size , you might need a bigger freezer 😂👍👍🤠
Another great session Billy..Superb Halibut on the light tackle…and on bait Rod..love the sound of the ratchet and your nervous laughter….You’re a Star angler buddy, fishing some of us can only dream about…Superb…Thank you🎣🎣 Screaming Reels all the way 🐳
Believe me! it's an absolute pleasure. The only way I can make fishing more fun, is to make videos at the same time. Thanks Brother, see you on the beach 😁👌
For sure junkie! Of course you can catch fish on smaller baits! But I think you lose time reeling in and baiting up! One day I'm going to catch something truly fantastic. Thanks Brother 😁 👌
I really like watching your videos and hearing what you have to say ... I ike when you show how you do defferent things and your equipment ... Thanks, You are Appreciated & Funny ..
Class video Billy, you're a lucky man ! Some cracking halibut! The most mackerel I've ever seen was Hampton cove last year....all the way from the nuns to the harbour...sea was alive with millions of them.
Hi Ciaran! Been crazy up here this year, a local scene trawler. Posted a reel on Instagram, 40 tons of mackerel in one shot! As much as I hate that type of thing! It just blows your mind. Thanks brother 😁👌
what an epic film Billy well done on the big BUTS !! rumor has it Norway is requesting 2 days notice from you when you decide to go fishing so they can put out a tsunami warning due to those bait sizes 🤣🤣 but man what another fantastic video , thanks a million for sharing it :)
Nice!!!!! Brilliant video. You’re my favourite UA-cam fishing channel. All ways interesting and a touch off Witt. What could be better. Tight lines bro
Congratulations mate! Halibut on the lures and light gear and then a perfect eating size for the table! So glad to see Norway is getting back on form the has definitely been something going on for the last year or so with the weather and sea temperatures hence the abundance of mackerel, hope you enjoy feasting on the Halibut definitely one of my all time favourite eating fish and awesome fun catching them, win ,win! 😉🎣🇧🇻🇧🇻🇧🇻👍
Great video Billy. Please dont tell all our South African fishing secrets 😂. Nice bait on the dingle demo. When i fish for flatfish(stingrays and sandshatks) or sharks here in SA i find sometimes the fish are a little shy. I dont use beads on my dingle, just looped ends with crimps and heat shrink on the hook end. Mackrel bait is split like yours but hook is inserted though the upper lip to keep in place and dingle runs through the middle and cotton around the mouth to secure it with 4 cutlets on the outside.
Hi John! The way you make baits down your end of the world, is a science! Compared to bait presentation around Europe. And there is so much going on I don't think I could ever give the game away completely. Maybe one day I'll be fishing down on Jeffrey's bay! Thanks brother see you on the beach 😁👌
Lovely stuff Bill. I've been out on the Mersey, fair few Cod in the river at the moment. Have had nothing but some decent Rays and Whiting, but no complaints!
Wow, what a great session man!!!! Happy to see the little fella swim off but that beast, well, thats going to be some good eating for a while right! 🙂 Nice one Billy! Getting a bit cold up there now right?
Thanks brother! As it goes it is very warm right now! By warm, I mean between 6 and 2 degrees Celsius. Normally it would be -10. I'm not complaining 😁✊
Great video Billy. Greetings from Australia. Really enjoy your videos and the way you generously share your wealth of knowledge on tackle and technique. Just getting back into surfcasting with overhead multipliers although I fished a lot with them in the 1960s and 70s when the only cast controls were oil or grease viscosity and an educated thumb. Do those reels you are using have modern magnetic or centrifugal spool braking and how important do you believe that to be?
Hi bud. That reel has magnetics! I prefer them to centrifugal breaks. You can tune the cast, and it allows you to get that extra distance! Thanks Brother 😁👌
Hi Bud. My favourite way to cook halibut, is simply fried in some butter! And then have it with potatoes and parsley sauce. Delicious! Thanks brother 😁👌
What is the gaff you have for this Billy? Could do with a lightweight very extendable one like that for our trips over there and what weight do you reckon it could vertically lift, cheers
Hi Keith. The telescopic part, I picked up of AliExpress! I have no link, I picked it up a few years back. The original gath head, that came with it broke this year. It was not made very well. So now I have altered it and redesigned it! And so far the most I've lifted, is 22 kg! But I'm sure it would lift as much as 100 kg if I could pull that hard. 👌
Hi Becker! The season makes a lot of difference, focus on autumn into winter! Stay out on the open coast, if you're unsure whether they are there or not. Dry fishing baits first! and once you've tracked them down, keep on casting. Follow the link to this video, it will give you some examples of ground to fish. Thanks brother
Cracking fishing Billy a Halibut you can take and live off for a week eating like a king. Hope you can get a keeper on a lure, fingers crossed for you buddy 😊😊

Cracking vid Billy, full of useful info as usual for us fisheads🤣 made my Sunday night viewing. stay safe buddy, tight lines.

Excellent Job, Billy. POSITIVES: photography-er & editing, fishing, knowledge, humor- dialog, safari & story, host. LACKS: hype & other artificial angler enticements (good!) - such as, sex (unmeasurable value). LOL.

Hi bud. The fish might be different, but I can't help with thinking! The Great lakes must be like a fjord. Thanks brother, much appreciative 😁👌

Thanks Rich! Who knows, maybe I'll head that way this winter, thanks Brother 😁 ✊
Brilliant fishing Billy..I was wondering would the fresh mackerel not be better for fishing on the day..there's so many there ..
Hi Paul. Honestly it really doesn't make that much difference! There is so much competition for food. Thanks Brother 😁 👌
Great video Billy. That looks a cool mark to fish.
Thanks Warren! Yes it's a very cool place to fish! 😁✊

🤣 No! Thanks Brother, glad you liked it 😁✊
Good stuff Billy. Not going to lie here, I did not know latex was a plant product until this video. Never looked into it before, very interesting!
Thanks Joe! It's the only type of elastic I use, it would be such a shame to pollute the sea. 😁👌
@Billyfishing_watch agree. Same reason I try to only use biodegradable baits, avoid plastic if possible.
Great video and fishing spot, would like to get there someday.
Hi bud. Arctic Norway is amazing at any time of the year! I just love it, thanks Brother 😁👌
That was some session Billy!
