Feel her mood wish I could do so too😮😢
It’s so crazy that she played Elena, Katherine, Tatia, Amara, no humanity Elena, Katherine impersonating Elena and Elena impersonating Katherine and they still feel like all different characters.
and we can tell the difference between all the characters which i find even even more impressive
she is WICKED talented
@@tayycro literally
Yeah it's almost like they didn't want to pay more actors.

Nina lost her grandfather during a fire so this scene is pretty personal for her

Loser
Her grandpa in real life died
i mean she does have all of talent but her grandpa actually died if u pay attention u can see Paul look at the directors
Every time she says :"It hurts, please make it stop" I burst into tears. Such a talented acting and such a heartbreaking scene.
It's hard not to. Nina played this scene so incredibly that it is impossible to not sympathize with Elena in this moment
@@Crimson19977 yes, true ))
The fact in this scene Nina had recently lost her Grandpa so she was actually crying and Ian and Paul noticed so they told the director to stop filming.😢
I don't blame her
Me too 😭
The way she went from crying and being emotionally distraught to completely emotionless after turning off her humanity is brilliant. Nina is a great actress!
Considering how TVD treated death previously, I was shocked at how raw the grief was portrayed here. The stages of it, the denial, the horrified realization. It felt so real.
Her crying actually wasn't fake she had lost her grandfather close to the time of this and she just let go Paul and Damon had to tell the directors to stop filming
@@arianasmith5476 yeah I read about that too, it's very sad though we have this haunting scene as a result
The cracks on her voice throughout her speech, the stammering, the breakdown and then the nothingness. She's spectacular.
Edit: that prolonged eye contact with Damon as she turned it off thooo and her looking like a child with a pout at the end
mid scene tbh. over the hedge clears
This one always got me because when the tone of the music changes, her eyes change (where she's looking) and it makes you think THAT'S the humanity switch coming off. That was AMAZING!
She’s annoying af
Nina's grandfather had just died at the time. In this scene she was not acting. She’s is an incredible person.
It was just a rumor
@@pettychan2013 no she said it was a lie besides she still visits her grandma
This scene always gets me, even now. You can see the actual moment she shuts off her humanity… Nina is truly so talented.
How is Elena a crybaby, in this context with all her family dying around her on top of dying herself and becoming a vampire (which heightens her emotions btw) it just makes sense that she would a break down like this.
This is a human way to breakdown too dude
This is one of the few times that people can really sympathize with her and feel her pain. Especially now after Covid and everything else happening, a lot of people can relate to this scene. Nobody deserves their beloved ones to die. Excellent acting by Nina. Now that I've said that, in general, Elena is not a very likeable character, she is kinda selfish. Even with this happening, she involved Jeremy into the whole cure thing for her to get the cure. Even if he was going to become a hunter, he did it for her. I think she feels guilty, also she and Jeremy killed a bunch of vampires with Kol a few episodes earlier, so in a way it is like karma.
@@xxqueenofdarkness absolutely nothing Elena did deserved the death of her brother so I don’t see how that’s karma. Jeremy got involved on his own bc he wanted to and she wasn’t the one killing those vampires. I agree she can be self centered but I wouldn’t say she’s selfish. At least for the most part, she’s been a good person but obviously she’s not perfect.
@@aya-_-3045 i was watching these episodes (with the death of Kol) when i wrote this and she definitely manipulated people , including her brother
@@xxqueenofdarkness didn't she quite litterally die for Matt to survive? And wasnt it Jeremy's idea to get into this vampire mess when Elena tried to keep him out of it?? Out of everything Elena is definitely not selfish
Bro that moment when your crying so hard you start gasping for air it’s truly devastating
I found it hilarious 😂 lmao, Elena crying . She was the most selfish character on vampire diaries
Our tears are no less then oscar for your performance, you literally made us feel the pain and cry. You did multiple characters without even confusing them, the difference between Elena and Katherine is clearly visible.✌️✌️
Hands down her best acted scene in the whole show. Gets me every time.
The changes in her eyes. Explain When the switch snapped. Great acting!
When she started to say "I cant..." I felt the words inside of my heart.. God Nina What a perofmance 👏👏
Such a versatile actress she is and every one in this series deserve a great career.
That music and the ever so subtle shift in Elena’s eyes as the flip is switch is SO well done!! I don’t know why people give Nina such a hard time. Elena may have been a frustrating character most of the time but that is due to the writing of the character, not the acting. When the time came for Nina to hit those emotional highs and play multiple characters at once, she never disappointed. It only makes it more difficult to think of what more we could have enjoyed from Elena if she had been allowed to grow and develop as a character and not purely exist to be a love interest for the Salvatore brothers.
Excellent comment, i would loved to see her more than just that!
I still cry at this scene 🥺 all these years later
It's the not finishing sentences for me, I feel you Elena, I truly do!
Crying in Damon's arms would cure me
TikTok ruined this by using that one part where she's stammering her words; they made it comical, but it's really sad.
Just the acting in this scene just oh my gosh I'm mindblown!! Poor Elena!!
"You r scaring me" Yea, me too
I was so terrified watching Elena just breaks and ruins everything, talks absolutely straight I mean that is the feeling u know u r done
Best mental breakdown i ever see on screen
She was truly crying.
The fact that she wasn’t acting in the scene makes it even more powerful.
She's so talented it's crazy one of the best actresses
The way Stefan said “Damon help her “
The people that say Nina is a bad actress watched a different show I think.
She played Elena (human, vampire, vampire without humanity), Katherine (human and vampire), Elena and Katherine impersonating each other, Tatia, AND Amara. Tbh I can't really see how people can think she's bad.
This is how break up feels like a mental breakdown.
Nina deserves a starting role on a major movie, she’s quite talented.
I keeo coming back to watch this. This is the MOST impressive acting of her in my heart.
Fun Fact : Nina Dobrev ( Elena ) wasn’t actually acting in that scene because her grandpa died in a fire. U can see Paul Wesley ( Stefan Salvatore ) looked at the director to make a cut. Candice and Ian were also worried as well.
I found it hilarious 😂 lmao, Elena crying . She was the most selfish character on vampire diaries
It was rumors. Not true.
It's mind-blowing how you can actually see her turning it off ! Nina's acting is just so perfectly accurate!! And when she looks at the picture of her and Jer, you can actually see that she feels no more.. her eyes are so empty of emotions.. Brilliant acting. Love Nina ❣️
elena will always be one of my favorites i will never understand the hate she gets
I love Elena. Bonnie more, but I love her.
I love how he didn't compell her he gave her a choice
At this point in the show she was a vampire already, so Damon couldn’t compel her. She was sire-bonded to him though, so in a way he did coerce her to turn it off. That’s what the “I want you to…” is about. It’s still a good scene and probably what she needed in the moment.
@@hamiltonlauren64 oh shit right forgot only originals can compell regular vampires. I started with the originals and im just starting on tvd
@@hamiltonlauren64he had the sire bond
Every emotion is magnified for vampires, and Elena just lost Jeremy. It's not like she had four brothers like Rebekah. Even in losing Finn and Kol, Rebekah still had Klaus and Elijah. Jeremy was the only family Elena had left. Even Rebekah felt sorry for her because she knew and understood. As Klaus said, "I know arithmetic isn't your strong point, but one is still less than twelve." And one brother is still less than four. Flipping Elena's switch was the right thing to do, and I love how soft Damon is with her.
Stefan doesn't understand Damon's decision to flip Elena's switch, but he does when he loses Damon at the end of S5. He'll feel what Elena feels. Damon knew well and good that he wasn't enough for her this time. He could comfort her through any pain except for the loss of her brother. Caroline makes comment to it after Liz dies. Elena literally skipped over much of her grief, so by the time she was actually ready to mourn Jeremy, her pain was tolerable. Controllable. Damon did her a favor and broke her sire bond in the process. If Stefan weren't a ripper, he probably would've flipped his switch when he lost Damon.
Nina is a criminally underrated actress
I don't understand why some people think Elena is weak for turning her humanity off when it wasn't even her choice Damon told her to turn it off and since she was under the sire bond she couldn't do anything but turn it off so we don't know if she would have done so on her own like yeah she was grieving Jeremy but even then she wouldn't get over his death obviously but she'd most likely would have kept going on with her humanity on. Elena is a lot stronger than people give her credit for.
I think she would have Turned it off if Damon didn’t force her too.
We believe she might of kept it on but Caroline who wasn’t as emotional as Elena turned it off.
@@bluebubble229 Caroline turned it off only after losing her mom which is understandable obviously because its her mom but the point is that by this episode Elena had lost her adoptive mom and biological mom as well as pretty much every other family member so if Caroline is allowed to turn it off on her own without judgement from the fandom then Elena should be allowed to do so without judgement as well. It's not a competition of who lost the most family or suffered the most trauma but the point is that Elena lost more than Caroline so Elena had every right to be emotional and sad and to turn off her humanity even if she wasn't forced to by Damon.
@@user-qx1xq3vu4z I never said Elena did not have the right to turn it off. She definitely would, but I don’t believe she would of kept it on if Damon didn’t force her to turn it off. Elena lost her parents, her bio parents, her aunt, and Alaric all when she was human so she didn’t have the ability to turn her emotions off. When she became a vampire the only thing holding her together was Jeremy. Caroline did have every right to turn het emotions off too.
Oh man I just bust into tears when I see this scene. I just can't believe those people who say that she doesn't know how to act.
When she breaks down instantly cried insane acting skills
“I don’t want this Xbox”😂😂😂
I found it hilarious 😂 lmao, Elena crying . She was the most selfish character on vampire diaries
@@gamerdude8668 Copy pasting doesn’t make it true
@@gamerdude8668she has BPD… and I’ve researched A LOTTTT about psychology
I can’t believe she held on for that long like she strong
Weirdly enough you go through enough depression and horror in your life you eventually learn to turn off your emotions you become numb
People talk about how Elena is a crybaby but Elena just feels alot of emotions there’s nothing wrong with that also the fact she couldn’t pick Stefan or Damon means she’s cares for them and didn’t want to hurt them and always wanted to please Stefan & Damon like Elena pleased everyone else. Plus Katherine ruled with fear and Elena ruled with kindness. Elena is like a prism & sunlight even a prism and sunlight can cast shadows. Elena reminds me of Rachel Amber. Here’s an example:
I think the whole point of Rachel Amber is for her to be a person who you see, but you actually never get to know. She looks like "It" girl. Perfect parents, perfect grades, perfect house, beautiful, talented, intelligent. She is the perfect student, daughter, actress, model, psychologist, school secretary. She is a star which shines so bright she literally blinds everyone. She is fire, a passion, a dragon.... and to the pain of everyone involved she is, ultimately, a human being.
The problem with Rachel Amber is that it seems like she is used to people thinking she is flawless. She is used to getting her way and never having to face the consequences of what she does, because who she appears to be makes up for it. I think Rachel is so used to people projecting on her that they never truly see her and all her dark behaviours are usually done in the shadow... she has to live pretending. Is not only the drugs, party and sex... but the fact that she can be genuinely evil and manipulative in her ways and yet, the real world never seems to reach her.
Besides being a girl whose life has been so perfect she can barely tolerate a scratch in it before having an emotional breakdown (aka, her father having an affair). I am impressed at how she cheats, messes with different people, takes her rage issues out on others, gets involved in situation which can severely harm others (like drugging Victoria`s tea or getting Chloe skip school with her when Chloe has already enough problems with her records) she even starts a fucking forest fire... and yet people in Arcadia Bay, Chloe herself and plenty of the game players are STILL making excuses for this person. Rachel is a dark being, make no mistake, the problem is that nobody actually SEES her. When she banishes hardly anyone, besides Chloe, wants to find her... that's because she was a scapegoat in which the entire town projected it's light, she was never seen as a person. She was a ghost, a dream. When it became too much of a weight for Rachel to bear (all the expectations of people) she literally lit herself on fire.
Rachel does not care for Chloe. Does not matter what it seems to be... the girls have known each other for literally two days. Rachel is an actress. Rachel uses Chloe as a person with whom she can explore her dark side, and also somebody she can manipulate to do things she wouldn't do on her own (like run away). Chloe clings on Rachel because she is extremely alone, and puts her on a pedestal. Chloe is extremely lonely and has abandonment issues. The one difference is that Chloe and Rachel are not comparable characters. Chloe has lost her father, her best friend, is having to adapt to her step father, has problems at school, people treat her like shit and her economic situation isn't the best. Chloe is literally trapped in emotional angst and she escapes into self destruction, art and drugs. Besides her mother, Chloe has lost what she valued the most. Rachel Amber does not come from such context and can not be compared.
Rachel probably senses her father is having as affair... and all of a sudden Chloe would make a great friend... and also be an emotional punching bag? These two knew each other for a while and Rachel knows what spots to touch to get to Chloe. Chloe only idealizes Rachel, the same as the rest of Arcadia Bay, and Rachel prays on this. Chloe is a "what you see is what you get" type of girl, she is loyal and extremely reliable and Rachel uses this for her own means.
Ultimately destiny has its ways and Rachel meets Mark Jefferson. Having strong motives to have daddy and mommy issues is not a surprise Rachel would be attracted to a father figure (him). He is probably the one person she cant read and who is actually a better predator than her... she goes into his house and he eats her. Mark Jefferson is the monster Rachel Amber was looking to encounter, and she did, because her own inner demons were not too different. She was a beautiful predator, who just got eaten by a smarter one. Chloe is warned by William in before the storm "the fire is beautiful, but if you aren't careful you will get burned too".

One of the best TVD's and The CW's best scene and performance.
In this scene Nina Dobrev is her best breakdown scene ever. She is very emotional about her brother, Jeremy's death is very emotional for her to experience of her grief.
I found it hilarious 😂 lmao, Elena crying . She was the most selfish character on vampire diaries
@@gamerdude8668she wasn’t selfish. Imagine how you’d feel if you lost everyone you ever loved. I mean maybe you wouldn’t break down but…you’d feel empty. Hollow. You’d feel the loss and it would break you a million times over. Grief is funny like that. You think you’re fine and then you’re not.
The fact that her grandpa died and she actually cried in the show and the director didn’t let her have a break
When Paul looked sideways, he was looking at the directors because when Elena was having a breakdown, she had lost her grandfather at the time and it wasnt scripted, hope it helps!

It’s the fact that Stefan told Damon to help her then when Damon tells her to “turn it off” he acts all surprised!😂😂 how else could he have helped her!? I don’t think a hug would have sufficed in that moment!😂💀
You know an emotional scene was extremely well acted when the audience is left crying in tears with the character.
This is when even you are argue with your siblings... and they died... I CAN'T HOLD THIS PAIN! 😭😢😥💔
“I meant hold her or something, not turn off her emotions!” 😂
Sad how the only way Damon knew how to help her was to tell her to turn it off because he usually kills somebody to help his pain
Yeah, the brothers are written opposite that way. Stefan with the blood, Damon with the emotions. That's why Damon watches Stefan after Elena flips it back on. He uses what he learns from Stefan... and flips her emotions in the 5th season. That's how he's able to switch her from rage to pain when Silas compels her. He then begins to learn channeling his own. "You just have to focus on one thing, okay?" Damon makes her think about Stefan when Silas compels her. "You just find that one thing inside of you that makes you strong." For Damon, that would be Elena, and that's how she gets him.
Nina’s acting was so good in this episode she made me cry you can feel Elena’s pain so muchhhhhhh
I know Elena shouldn't turn off her emotions and humanity it was the only thing she had left.but Damon was right. What's a humanity Worth if you have no one to hold on to no one to Love no one to cherished. when i Lost my uncle last year Due to cancer Part of my emotions humanity died aswell..all i saw was pain and i wanted to stop it.i Lost my biological dad and my dog and so so so many People i loved like Elena and i know that..when ur in a grief..u dont see hope u dont see happiness all u see is a pain.

Stefan: We told Matt to take her home. We thought it'd be best
Elena: Ok. Guess we're gonna have to do this the old-fashioned way
Caroline: Do what? (Damon is there, carrying Jeremy's body)
Elena: Put his body on the couch (She looks for something)
Caroline: Elena? Elena, you need help finding something?
Elena: Got it (She puts alcohol everywhere) Stefan: What are you doing?
Elena: We need a cover story, right? You think I didn't hear you guys talking earlier? Well, what are we gonna say... Animal attack, tumble down the stairs? No. We burn the house down with him inside of it
Stefan: Elena, stop it
Elena: Why, because you want me to not be in denial? You want me to face the truth? This is the truth, Stefan. I don't want to live here anymore. I don't want these sketches. I don't want this Xbox. Not gonna need this bourbon anymore. Alaric is not here to drink it, I mean, unless you guys are willing to bring back every supernatural creature on the other side to get him hick. Would you? I know you want your drinking buddy back. Would you, Damon? Because I wouldn't. I don't know. I mean, does that make me a bad person? I have no idea (She removes Jeremy's ring)
Elena: He's not gonna need that anymore
Caroline: Elena, stop it. You're scaring me
Elena: What else are we supposed to do with the body, Caroline? I mean, there's no room in the Gilbert family plot. Jenna and John took the last spots
Stefan: No, no, Elena. Stop
Elena: There's nothing here for me anymore, Stefan. Every inch of this house is filled with memories of the people that I love that have died... My mom, my dad, Jeremy, and Jenna and Alaric, John, even John. I mean, they're all dead. Everyone is dead. So what am I supposed to... I mean, how am I gonna... I can't even... it's sad yeah but her crying is so funny💀💀💀like idk I saw it in edits plot twisting her ITS HILARIOUSS

Forgot to add something to my previous comment.
Unsure if anyone has thrown this out there but... another alternative to turning her humanity off...Stef, Care, or Damon (mostly Care) should have asked Klaus to compel her out of her pain. But yeah I get why they chose the flipping switch route. It works. I'm actually watching this episode right now, and the thought just occurred to me.
So I’ve always kind of thought the vampires humanity switch is strikingly similar to the way many of us, or at least me, try to bottle our emotions. When you think about it there’s several similarities. You can only bottle up emotions for so long, just like how the vampires only keep their humanity turned off for so long, and then when the humanity switch is turned back on, all those emotions that they didn’t process in the past all come flooding in at once, and the same kind of thing happens to someone who tries to push their emotions down or bottle them up for a certain period of time, there comes a breaking point where it can no longer be bottled up and we snap and all the emotions built up flood in at once with us too. Idk who’s going to read this or not, but I’ve been thinking about this for quite awhile now and kinda just wanted to write my thoughts down lol.
In this scene nina ( elena) was not acting in this scene she actually lost her grandfather the same day she was shooting this scene
She was tooo damn good in this scene. Nina you are really great
