Also, sounds like the Wonder Years music at the end and I thought that was also pretty funny and great. Might not have been but still had a chuckle with it ending like that. Love these videos!
This was a very entertaining and solid-quality video that occupied me for 4 days. Please do this kind of thing again! Great content, and whereas I also have my own opinions about bosses, it’s not about my own and I like hearing others.
I commented a couple times regarding bosses already but I am at the end now and I wanted to say this was a great video and thank you for making it. I am sure it was a lot of work. It killed a bunch of time for me over 2 days at my job and there's nothing better than consuming Fromsoft content while getting paid. ;)
I really agree with the dragon god placement, it’s a mess. And the worst thing is that even when you activate both of the ballistas you can still fall through his chin into the lava
Great video, really enjoyed it. Random thought on the headless apes in that I like them quite a bit because I had such a problem with guardian ape, and barely any issues with these 2, so once I flew through them I had such a sense of accomplishment and progression that it just made the game even sweeter.
Dude, this video is great and you’re a total madman for taking on a project this huge. You also have a good voice and scripting for something like this. Easy pleasant listen. Also agree with a lot of what you’re saying here- The DS2 Gank Squad is so bad that it made me give up on the DLC altogether! Glad someone else hates them. And Gael is definitely the GOAT! Subbed and excited to see more.
2:03:38 Shadows of Yharnam - its not the fireball/mace enemy you want to leave solo at the end, its the flamethrower candle bro whos AI is trapped in the sidestep animation loop, main Scimitar and Mace shadow are capable of melee attacks and summoning snakes directly in your face in the middle of you attacking it, (you never mentioned the snakes being the *ultimate* punishment for leaving more than one alive towards the end of the fight, otherwise with candle guy it only happens if you back off from its attack range to heal or buff for example) many a hitless run has been lost to insta snakes from Mace/Scimitar bros 😢 Found your channel a few months ago... thanks for the great, long form content to keep on in the background while i work!
Just found your channel recently, really enjoying the content so far. Very excited to spend the next week watching this video in bits and pieces when I can find time! That being said, I’m very interested to see your placements considering that three entries in and I’m already seeing some big variations from my own list. I agree that the Maneaters have some wack AI and the arena could stand to be a little wider, but it’s still at least in the upper half of Demon’s Souls bosses for me.
Great video! I kinda wish for the ER bosses you'd included all the ones that have 'Great Enemy Felled' on killing them so we'd have bosses like Loretta, Margit, Commander Niall, Godskin Duo, etc...But I still had a great time watching and wouldn't want to make you do even MORE work xD
I think Soul of Cinder will always be my favourite boss of all Soulsborne games. Everything in that fight feels top notch, my only complaint is that it can be a bit easy if you do all the DLCs before and go in there basically overleveled, his HP could be bigger. But for newbies, it absolutely delivers. The entire scenery and arena has to be one of the best in FromSoftware, a lone peak in the middle of a mediveal apocalypse with the dying sun in the backdrop as the First flame is slowly burning out, with the Soul of Cinder sitting at the final bonfire as you enter. He makes you use everything you learned in the entire game, has every build type and makes good use of different spells and buffs, but difficulty is not too over the top and insane. His phase 2 is an amazing transition as he summons Gwyn. The OST is absolutely perfect, and gotta be the most emotional of the game. And finally, there's something really poetic about the fact that Soul of Cinder is the Chosen Undead, technically you from the end of Dark Souls 1, the warrior who rekindled the First Flame and gathered the power of every lord in the thousands of years. The final great boss of the story, in the end, is yourself. That fight is just too good, not to mention the absolutely amazing design and probably the best looking armor in the game the boss got.
I am right there with you on your top 2. Gael is just goated, but the rhythm of the fight of Godrey is absolutely the best of any boss they've ever done. I never want it to end. Spacing, jumping, dodging and positioning. You have to do it all and it's just so damn fun! You have earned my sub! Incredible video.
Even though i staunchly think Midir is top 3, if not #1, i enjoyed the video-- it's rare that a games youtuber can talk about the things they don't like and not make it super negative and obnoxious, so kudos. This video really highlights an interesting theme of the series as well, ie the tragically powerful last gasp of things that are on their last legs.
Really enjoyed this vid mate and I massively respect you for having your own subjective opinions. Don’t get me wrong I don’t agree with everything on here but I find a list like this so much more interesting to engage with when someone presents their own opinions rather than giving out the same list we’ve seen 20 times
I realized while replaying DS1 this week that all Fromsoft had to do to make Bed of Chaos not the worst boss ever is remove the collision from the arms so you don't get swept into the pits.
@@C1yde902 Ludwig was a very cool boss. He is mentioned in the lore many times in the main game through item descriptions and even weapons are named Ludwig's holy blade. Then in the DLC, you are surprised to find Ludwig as a beast and you fight him till one of the best cutscenes plays. He takes out the moonlight greatsword. Not to mention the great music
You can also tell apart the real Fool's Idol from the fakes by the spells they use. The real one uses the bigger Soul Ray spell, and the fake ones shoot the small homing ones.
This was an interesting video, although I disagree heavily with this tier list, like a lot lmao. I still think it's impressive that you ranked every single boss. Good job man! Imo, the Bed of Chaos isn't the worst among the games. I don't mind it, it's not my favorite by any stretch but it's not THAT bad. It was actually kind of fun to beat the boss in one go w out having to run back after dying. Also not that down on Dragon God either. To each their own tho, thanks for sharing your opinion in this wonderful video. ✌
Ehh I feel they are overated. Friede can frankly be one of the few questionable AI within dks3, especially if you are great at knowing where she is since you can reliably get her to go where you want. Her phase 3 is also the only hard part of her fight. As phase 1 can get stunlocked pretty easily. Phase 2, you can bully them with wide attacks and smacking fathers rear and rushing to backstab the sister whenever she goes to heal.
@@christianlangdon3766 most fights don't even have a third phase and you are talking about meta gaming the AI like that it something you can do with a lot of bosses, that is part of learning how to beat a boss..
@Kaibacorporate I mean it didn't take long to notice how where she went was based on where your back was. That's just learning it and after that she is a glass cannon with no poise, you can argue it isn't fair to do so. But without her invis combos she doesn't have a lot of bit. And her first 2 passes are easy even when I didn't know what to do. If you are food at pvp she is really nothing special.
1:00:18 old dragonslayer is a golem sorta like the smelter demons using a fragment of the real Ornstein’s soul. It’s a trial for the blue sentinels whose leader is found beyond the arena.
@@baconterrorist945 it came to me in a dream No so in ds1 Gwyn splitting up his lord soul to give to Seath and The Four Kings confirms souls can be divided up but retain power. The Ornstein we slay in ds1 is an illusion of gwyndolin’s made using part of the soul of the real Ornstein, that’s how we can reconcile killing the man in ds1 but him evidently persisting in the world after. Now in the ds2 game guide, the giant knights of Heide’s tower dropping blue eye orbs hints at it being part of a system for recurring blue sentinels. Pair that with Heide’s tower being a chunk of displaced Anor Londo shifted with the movement of the first flame to where drangleic is, and the old dragonslayer using dark attacks, it’s clear the whole scenario is constructed to recruit blue sentinels. We know the soul is a fragment of Ornstein’s since it can be transposed into his weapon. And we know golems can have souls, as the smelter demon is an artificial construct bearing a soul
Your assessment of the Curse-Rotted Greatwood’s second phase is faulty, though the arm can take damage and it can be killed by only attacking it, it still has a series of tumours that do massive damage. You’ve been doing it the hard way.
the idea, i assume, of the gank squad having a big winding map to lead them around and split them up is a cool idea but it just doesnt work at all ingame
If you have your torch out for dukes dear freja the small spiders will leave you alone. Doesnt make it a great fight but removes most of the frustration
There are pustules that can be hit in phase 2 of the Curse Rotted Greatwood. It isn't just the arm. I generally enjoy it, because it doesn't last very long. I'm glad to see it at least not getting outright hate for once.
This is going to sound a little mean and I'm sorry about that, but I had to giggle a little when you mentioned the blood-starved beast's "unsettling predatory prowl" because not gonna lie, I've always thought about it as more of a silly little waddle
Something to note about the False Corrupted Monk in Sekiro: its design is deceptive. It looks like an apparition like the various nightjar ninja and Ashina samurai encountered earlier in Mibu Village. However, the boss is actually an illusion. As evidenced by the fact that the real version is still alive and snap seeds are able to hurt/stagger the false version.
I always tell people playing Sekiro that there are two bosses you can encounter first: A giant samurai riding an equally giant horse, using an incredibly huge spear, and an old woman armed with knitting needles. One is a merciless destroyer of men who eviscerates you with their vicious, brutal moves and their insane mobility; their damage is sudden and hard-hitting so you're dead without realizing why.they take lives by the net and they can end playthroughs. The other one rides a horse.
Even more to the chaotic mess that is centipede demon. The boss actually has a second phase of both limbs are cut off where it’ll start using pyromancy ranging from a flamethrower to an explosion beneath it to using its severed limb to form and throw fireballs at you.
Hi! Bit late on this, but your confusion regarding the DS3 Dragonslayer Armor lore is well-founded given how obscure his lore actually is. The boss, although at first appearing to be some shade-washed variance of Ornstein, is actually the armor of a wholly separate "dragonslayer" from Gwyn's war of disparity. Think of him more as the correct mirror of Smough, who believed it was better to strike with great force from above rather than through flurries of dexterous movement - best seen in how his axe relies on the same lightning attack, although from overhead. As to why it should drop a soul when it dies given its only metal, the armor is being "piloted" by the Pilgrim Butterfly, the ghastly angel seen floating on the sidelines of the arena. They are the assumed 'evolved' state of the games pilgrims like Yoel. Hope this helps!
Another fun note about placidusax. If you notice the other ancient dragons call down the lightning as if needing help. Where as placidusax can spawn red lightning from himself as if he is the source for such power

kudos to you man, when i saw the video is 4 hrs i was like perfect video while playing elden ring
thats dedication
Another great video, loved it! Your American accent kills me and it is incredible that you manage to provide nuanced and detailed commentary on so many different bosses while not repeating yourself at all.
It killed a bunch of time for me over 2 days at my job and there's nothing better than consuming Fromsoft content while getting paid. ;)
Looks to be amazing, will have to feast on this one over a day or two though
I really agree with the dragon god placement, it’s a mess. And the worst thing is that even when you activate both of the ballistas you can still fall through his chin into the lava
This has been such a great video man. I hope this blows up in the community
I gotta tell you, I appreciated this list a lot but then I cottoned on to you using FF music in the background and 🤯 FANTASTIC
Great video, really enjoyed it.
Random thought on the headless apes in that I like them quite a bit because I had such a problem with guardian ape, and barely any issues with these 2, so once I flew through them I had such a sense of accomplishment and progression that it just made the game even sweeter.
Well done bro! My personal top 5: 1) Sword Saint 2) Gael 3) Maria 4) Godfrey 5) Kos.
For me it’s:
1. Sword Saint Isshin
2. Gael
3. Orphan of Kos
4. Godfrey
5. Artorias
Banger of a video, helped me get through my work day and had me cracking up many times. Great work!
Another certified classic, my friend. Bravo! Love hearing your thoughts on specific details.
The 'no thank squad' line convinced me to subscribe. Well done. I look forward to your future work.
2:03:38 Shadows of Yharnam - its not the fireball/mace enemy you want to leave solo at the end, its the flamethrower candle bro whos AI is trapped in the sidestep animation loop, main Scimitar and Mace shadow are capable of melee attacks and summoning snakes directly in your face in the middle of you attacking it, (you never mentioned the snakes being the *ultimate* punishment for leaving more than one alive towards the end of the fight, otherwise with candle guy it only happens if you back off from its attack range to heal or buff for example) many a hitless run has been lost to insta snakes from Mace/Scimitar bros 😢
Found your channel a few months ago... thanks for the great, long form content to keep on in the background while i work!
Disagreed with everything here, isshin deserved top ten and definitely above guardian ape. Great video!
Hahaha, thanks mate!
There is no way guardian ape is better than isshin
@@timehasstoppedandthefunbeg4467 yes, that’s… what I said
This video is insane man. Keep up the great work🫡
I know what source of entertainment I have lined up for the next few days in between studying now...😂
Your videos are so good and you are such a wholesome dude I wish you success
Great video! I kinda wish for the ER bosses you'd included all the ones that have 'Great Enemy Felled' on killing them so we'd have bosses like Loretta, Margit, Commander Niall, Godskin Duo, etc...But I still had a great time watching and wouldn't want to make you do even MORE work xD
@@BBQcheesewhat? No. None of those give a remembrance lol why would they count for no reason? They are mini bosses
@@tehCostHDyou need to beat them to get to a remembrance boss
Margit-Godrick
Godskin Duo-Maliketh
Gideon-Godfrey
And so on
@@AltAccount-dz8rpyes but they do not give you a remembrance upon death, so not included
Commander Niall most underrated and overhated boss of all time, fucking sick fight
@@buckyhurdle4776 niall himself is sick but he is over leveled severely for most players and summons 2 of the top 5 spirit ashes just to jump you
I think Soul of Cinder will always be my favourite boss of all Soulsborne games.
Yet another video as long as 3 feature length films involving dark souls to add to my *listen in the background* collection
dude your voice is so fun to listen to, i'm hooked on your vids. 10/10 shit
I disagree on Godfrey big time. Owl Father is the GOAT boss in my opinion
No Sekiro bosses in the top 10 is wild
Surprised to see someone put Godfrey above Ludwig, I respect that opinion
The Godrick placement is much appreciated
I realized while replaying DS1 this week that all Fromsoft had to do to make Bed of Chaos not the worst boss ever is remove the collision from the arms so you don't get swept into the pits.
i still wish there was some way we could have fought a version of Artorias in his prime
No way my guy put godrick the grafted over the nameless king and Ludwig the holy blade. Great video though
Ludwig is massively overrated but yeah Nameless got shafted for sure
@@C1yde902 Ludwig was a very cool boss. He is mentioned in the lore many times in the main game through item descriptions and even weapons are named Ludwig's holy blade. Then in the DLC, you are surprised to find Ludwig as a beast and you fight him till one of the best cutscenes plays. He takes out the moonlight greatsword. Not to mention the great music
You can also tell apart the real Fool's Idol from the fakes by the spells they use.
The real one uses the bigger Soul Ray spell, and the fake ones shoot the small homing ones.
Great video. No real overly whiny bullshit like you get in so many boss/area videos. Hopefully this gets the recognition it should.
This work was outstanding and for sure it took a lot of your time. Congratulations
This was an interesting video, although I disagree heavily with this tier list, like a lot lmao. I still think it's impressive that you ranked every single boss. Good job man! Even tho I disagree with most of it hahaha.
I did really enjoy your explanation of why you ranked a boss in that certain place. You put a lot of effort into this video and it really shows.
Edit: I'm really happy to Atleast see lorian and lothric so high up 😅
I don't know if I'm more baffled by the fact that ivory king was so low or that the fire giant was so high. Either way, this video was really fun to watch and listen to while playing something on the side. Great job, and I hope you get a lot of subs from this video.
Ivory King I can get. His de-leveling attack sounds like a nightmare to deal with lmao
@@TheSuicune7... Huh?
@@AltAccount-dz8rp i think he meant to refer to false king allant (demon's souls), who has a unique grab attack that permanently reduces your character's level by 1
@@420quickscoper5oops, my fault. I haven’t fought either boss yet (DS2 SOTFS is a bit of chore to get through and I haven’t played Demons Souls yet.) I totally mixed those two up
Just found your channel, and I love your soulsborne videos. Thank you for making and putting the work in to do so.
Your American accent made me laugh out loud, thoroughly enjoyed this video! And may I say, as an American, your Scottish accent is beautiful
I don't know how but in multiple playthroughs i found a pattern and way to always dodge astels asteroids. Never got hit by them since, but that shockwave though. That shockwave.........
Sister Friede/Father Ariandel at #34 is crazy, easily a top 5 fight
@@christianlangdon3766 your argument is dumb because she is still one of the most challenging fights available in the game
Thanks for this, I watched it over 3 days and it was great. Keep it up lad
The Oerba theme is somehow really fitting for Gael, nice lol
1:00:18 old dragonslayer is a golem sorta like the smelter demons using a fragment of the real Ornstein’s soul. It’s a trial for the blue sentinels whose leader is found beyond the arena.
Source?
@@baconterrorist945 it came to me in a dream
No so in ds1 Gwyn splitting up his lord soul to give to Seath and The Four Kings confirms souls can be divided up but retain power.
Video itself is a banger, of course, but I also love your use of the FFX soundtrack
Your assessment of the Curse-Rotted Greatwood’s second phase is faulty, though the arm can take damage and it can be killed by only attacking it, it still has a series of tumours that do massive damage. You’ve been doing it the hard way.
You should be proud of your body of work. You’re better than most already.
Aw, thank you so much for the kind words and the generosity; it really means a lot!
this video was fucking epic, thanks for spending your time to make it. i hope you make long videos like this again
the idea, i assume, of the gank squad having a big winding map to lead them around and split them up is a cool idea but it just doesnt work at all ingame
Awesome job man I watched this while painting my house. Your American accent is pretty damn good too 💪
4 and a half hours later... Good stuff. Bravo.
If you have your torch out for dukes dear freja the small spiders will leave you alone. Doesnt make it a great fight but removes most of the frustration
Can’t really argue with Gael as number 1, definitely one of my absolute favorite fights. So sick.
“Tall, imposing, well armed… and handsome” got me pretty good 🤣
The accent is awesome gives your content a distinct feel
Candle type 1A is a great model, good takes. But im tryna see Candle type 2B.
I'm surprised the guardians duo isnt something you've killed! Even i did it once!
Subscribing simply because I respect people making comedically long videos. Death to short form content.
There are pustules that can be hit in phase 2 of the Curse Rotted Greatwood. It isn't just the arm.
I generally enjoy it, because it doesn't last very long. I'm glad to see it at least not getting outright hate for once.
This is going to sound a little mean and I'm sorry about that, but I had to giggle a little when you mentioned the blood-starved beast's "unsettling predatory prowl" because not gonna lie, I've always thought about it as more of a silly little waddle
brother! excellent work as always!
I always tell people playing Sekiro that there are two bosses you can encounter first:
A giant samurai riding an equally giant horse, using an incredibly huge spear, and an old woman armed with knitting needles.
