Perfect truth. MDR Sir was not an exception. Most artists and great souls who have devoted their life for the benefit of humanity were less recognized when they lived. They all made their creations out of deep passion and selflessness💛💚💙. Such creations only remains immortal.The people who lived during their time were unfortunate to tap the benefits and cried over the spilt milk later by themselves or by their descendants😞😞.

MDR was a phenomenon! There are handful of musicians who had qualities similar to that of MDR, the virtues, the conviction etc.. The commercialization and politics and the dirty games played by sabhas have literally eroded the divine art form over the years ! Surely these Great Musicians are keeping the Gods Happy !!
I wish this documentary presented current musicians from the younger generation who have done tremendous justice to MDR’s exemplary compositions and style vs. the ones presented here.

This is one of the most golden treasures and tribute to the all-time great musician, master, Guru, and the torch for all generations of classical musicians, music lovers, and listeners of music, not alone Carnatic music. I adore the great master’s personality, simplicity, passion towards music, efforts to achieve perfection, dedication, simplicity, conviction, confidence, knowledge (vidwath), etc. were all reflected in his music renditions. A great immortal legend who enthralled true music lovers and listeners, who still lives in the hearts of innumerable music lovers, and whose fragrance is spreading across the universe as time pass on. Kodi kodi pranamams to MOPA for taking the efforts to create/compile this great video and for sharing it with music rasikas💛💚💙👋👋👋🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏. We eagerly look forward to Part 2 of the creation🙌🙌🙌

Once before his concert began I met him in the rest room. Chalakudi sir introduced me to him. I did a namaskaram. Then he asked me to say abhivadhaye. I said abhivadhaye then requested him to sing o jagadhambe the anantha bhairavi krithi during that days concert. He said please do not mistake me. I do not pre schedule my concert krithis. Whatever comes to my mind at that time I would sing.
One of those concerts in Kerala which was attended by someone known to me narrated this... The musicians on stage was about 5 (MDR / Violinist / Mridangist / Tanpura player and the ghatam artist). And listeners in audience were about 5 or 6. Apparently MDR jokingly quipped that the strength of the people on stage was more than the audience. And yet, he sang for 3 plus hours totally oblivious of the surroundings and he was least bothered about who were there to listen to the music. Goes to say these musicians were true to the ART and nothing else mattered !!
funny thing all these people especially the current gen folks in this program talk about bhava, where is bhava when they sing? not sure why they do all this drama when they talk on screen. Edhaanum oru current cutcheri la andha sowkyam irukka?
