Well that is awesome getting a worm bin. I mean you can raise your own worms! Not only for your garden but future Gardens and for your flocks. Worms are very prolific and their castings are fantastic for the garden not only to mention that their movement of the ground aerate the soil I absolutely love them. I used to keep worms in a tiered wormery, it was thoroughly enjoyable. And the worm wee-tea they produced made my plants super happy. I used to layer lots of cardboard and old 100%wool clothes I bought in charity shops for next to nothing in with then over winter to help keep them warm and in the spring it was completely composted! There wasn't much they wouldn't chomp through and it was just lovely, crumbly black gold they produced, which when mixed with coir soil was great for growing plants. I hope you enjoy the new wiggly wigglers 🪱

I worked at a worm farm one summer and made really good money cleaning the beds, feeding and watering the worms, filling orders for resorts and tackle shops, preparingthem for shipping all over the U.S. it was a very successful business.
This is my favorite subscription and I love this family. I wake up every day to see if there is something new. They make me so happy and want to plow up that eleven acres in Alabama that the sibs and I inherited from granddad. But, being 71 and now broke down physically, I couldn't handle it. Although I have always been a farm girl at heart (country cooking, etc) I took the corporate route until it is was too late to make the move to farming/homesteading. Keep on growing and farming Cog Hill, you make my day/week.
On the worm bin..... cover the top with cardboard.... the worms like the dark. Just lift the cardboard to add scraps and cover. If it starts to stink.... you need less green materials (food scraps) and add more brown material (leaves or shredded paper). I love my worms. My veggies do too. Enjoy!
I can see it now MaryCarl is going to have favorite worms as pets and they'll all have names and she'll know who the momma and daddy are. The farm is looking neat and trim getting ready for spring. Blessings be.

I can't believe how big Nugget is. Seems like such a short time ago that he was just a wee thing running around in the house! He's such a hoot to watch! Congratulations on reaching a 100 thousand subs! You deserve it and many, many more!
down in the south of Venezuela, my two sons started growing worms. The place were they lived is called La Gran Sabana, and they were up in the mountains were nothing grows but quartz, rocks and sand. Little by little, they transformed a quite big place and started growing all kinds of vegetables, fruits and potatoes, carrots and others. Nobody could believe it. But it worked wonders this water, smells terrible, but it is a wonder maker!!! That, and the compost, in 2 years they had the most amazing garden that grew anything you planted in it!!!

Awesome! I moved into a place once that had had a garden in a fair sized corner spot by a shed, didn't realize until I went to plant in it, was just FULL of huge worms! Grew stuff like crazy there.
I’m in zone 5-6..we don’t think of starting stuff until..late April. As an experiment I started a tomato from seed on May 1st, it produced just fine. You can cover with vermiculite..that keeps them moist on top. Perlite isn’t bad, but vermiculite is finer. Good mention of seed starting mix. If you see a Sunsugar plant at the nursery, tuck a couple in the corner. One plant never produces, and two will both overproduce, it’s just the way it is.

Brooke, girl, you looking good these days! I think your new eating routine is working just as you had hoped it would. Way to go! I am so stinkin' excited about the new garden season coming. I can hardly stand to wait! 🤣
The liquid that comes from the workers is a liquid fertiliser. It is best if you dilute it. Not sure of the ratio, but I bet it's on UA-cam somewhere. I sometimes put a sheet of newspaper, or turn up newspaper in mind they will congregate under it and eat it. Mine is completely enclosed because I worry about rats. Also we have foxes here and they eat worms! Good luck with them. You can sell excess works out o y being shops for them to sell as bait😃😄
My sister sent this to me this morning. never seen your channel before. I am a subscriber now. in this one video you gave me solutions to some of the dilemmas I have had over the last couple of years. I have always had an issue with the no till methods because of the lack of organic material in the soil here in Southeast New Mexico. I have had a lot of success with composting in bins. this year's "compost crop" was awesome. with that said, I can never make enough to supply my needs. It is way too much work to do by hand plus there is a scarcity of materials needed to make the compost. what I saw you do, and I am going to try this year, is tilling in the cover crop and covering it with black plastic. something about what you said, can't put my finger on it, rang true for my circumstances. thank you for you time and energy you put into this video. I am going to go to your channel and see what else I can glean from your experiences. thx again. Yesterday I finished up a 9' x 25' ten panel deep cold frame for my sister. trying to get a jump start this year.
Hi! I love nugget! He's got an amazing personality! I never thought an emu would have such a sweet demeanor! I love your farm.getting those worms will be awesome for the garden! How old is your precious daughter! She's so amazing around the farm!
To start your peppers and get great results take your pepper seeds and put them on a really wet paper towel wrap them in it and then put them in a ziplock bag and watch within a few days they germinate super fast. When about a inch long I put them in seed bens. I do the same with my cucumbers and cantaloupe and watermelon etc. I’ve even done my beans and peas that way and it’s so much better. I grew huge bell peppers last year from getting seeds out of a bell pepper I bought from the store and dried the seed for a couple days then wrapped them in wet paper towels. My beans I put in a soaking wet paper towel and put them in a solo cup with foil on top 😂 it worked like a charm

Hope you have wonderful sprouts and successful earthworm farming!
I know a guy that used to have worms he mixed coffee grounds and oatmeal together and fed them
