    Great review.
    The super compressor cases actually compressed the deeper you went down. They wee made by the now defunct EPSA Company in Switzerland. There actually were springs built into the case that held the caseback in place.
    This watch is not a compressor case, it’s a conventional case. The only true compressor case that I know if that is still in production are the Vostok Amphibias and some of the Komadizskes.

    Nice review. I have been checking them all out as my Atlantic Blue version is on its way from Spinnaker for £135 (special offer). I have a Hull California with a similar strap which is poor. Probably only got wet a few times when just washing my hands and the end of the strap started to fray and split and I ended up buying their silicone rubber strap.

    I like the tropic bands - but I bought one and it was pretty short (Not really a prob), however both keepers float, so they just slide off the overhang so it sticks straight out. If one keeper were fixed, would be a brilliant band.

      Thank you. Spinnaker rarely ever do watches with no date... in fact I can't recall even one. They almost exclusively use Seiko NH35a and Miyota 8 series movements in their automatic watches, and both those have date discs... So far they have always chosen to include the date as far as I recall.

    hi Ivan. in a matter of 30 minutes, I have watched two reviews on this same watch. Rich from "whatsonthewrist" and just now you. good thing is that your review is more thorough which I like very much.
    it seems like most of lower end of automatic watches that need to be "hacked" and "hand-wind" use NH35, Miyota 9015 or STP1-11 movement, but NH35 being the cheapest. (but I do not really know which movement comes at lowest pricing. do you know Ivan?) It just seems like NH35 watches come between $230 to $350 range and Miyota 9 series from $300 to $400 range (well, Tisell being the exception, Miyota 9 series at $230 which is really a great deal). And STP1-11 being almost at the similar pricing at ETA2814 range. What is your personal opinion about these movements? that is interesting to know, i think....
    as for the top crown that controls the bezel, I think that either they have to make it screw down crown or make it bit tight to turn. As you demonstrated, if it moves that easily, there is no point having that bezel turning crown for real purpose.
    Also, the watch being 15mm thick, I think that it would be nicer to have a lug fitting strong looking metal bracelet rather than leather (that looks too thick to me comfortable...??!) and a rubber strap which does not confirm to the lug design. what is your opinion on that matter, Ivan? still it seems to be too thick. I am certain that they could have made at 13mm, but I wonder why they chose to be at 15mm.
    as for 180 meters... that is kind of funny thing to see. as you said, it is or should be 50, 100, 200, 300 and so forth... so I think that Spinnaker did that on purpose, marketing purpose to make it sound more accurate and different. Maybe someday, some other watch company might come up with 187 meters, ha ha ha. which does not make any difference for 99.99% of buyers who are just desk divers.
    by the way, the thin inner black chapter ring is too dark, numbers are too dark and too thin. very tough to see. So, honestly, it would not serve any purpose and if they had put that as a decoration or just to make it bit interesting, they should have used few brighter colored numbers, like 12, 15, 30 and 45. or at least just 12, 15 That would have been more interesting to look at.
    I like the dial colors and entire design look, specially the hour hand that matches indices designs. well done. However, the Blancpain designed bezel needs some improvement because the numbers are not so clear due to the curvature of the bezel, specially in lume shot. the numbers seem to be all messed up. I am not so certain that real Blancpain is the same way. (I just checked. Blancpain is not like that. the curvature is much more subtle and every numbers are very clearly seen)
    the pricing is not bad at $285 and design is also acceptable, however, they have tried few different things mainly for marketing purposes which does not really work so well. But in my personal opinion, among all other Spinnaker watches, this one is one of the better ones. thanks a lot Ivan for your review.

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  5 років тому +1

      Another super detailed comment Alex - How do you do it!? :)
      Regarding movements, well I would say that pieces featuring NH35A can be found right down to about $50. The Tisell is the lowest priced Miyota 9015 I know of, and you're right it's usually quite a bit more than that. The STP1-11 is cheaper to obtain than the ETA I think - I reviewed a Mr Jones watch with features that recently. All are reliable and trusted... you kinda get what you pay for, with the NH35 being the base of the bunch. Don't forget there are Seagull alternatives for 3 hand with date movements which can hack & hand wind - the ST6 being quite common.
      Regarding the thickness, yes I agree that they should have aimed to make this thinner... not sure if it was the bezel mechanism or the water rating that led to the increase, but either way, it should've been possible to do less than 15mm. And yes, I think a fitting bracelet would be better, but that might be wishful of me seeing as they've only ever done one metal bracelet model IIRC.
      Haha 187m, now that I would love to see! Mind you Rolex models have had 12800ft and 1220m on the dial (i.e. depth rating to 3 significant figures).
      Yes, the curve of the crystal does kinda mess up the look of the numbers at certain angles, but somehow this didn't bother me so much as it was always clear to me what I'm looking at, and I was never confused or unsure because of this. That's just my personal experience, but others may find it different.
      Cheers again for the effort & thought!

      @@PerthWAtch "how do I do it"? I watch your video very carefully and think about all different aspects of the watch and your comments. and do my own research and comment. I just could have say "oh, nice review. I like it" or "bad watch. too big for me" or "this watch, sucks!" then, there will be nothing for BOTH OF US to learn about the watch. Ivan I don't think it's an improvement on the original one, why have they gone thicker ? I cant see a reason for that unless the next model has a different movement? I like the stiffer old bezel gears the new one seems just too loose, great review though 👍👍

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  5 років тому

      Good points... why indeed have they made it thicker?? Surely the previous thickness is more than sufficient to do the 180m WR, so it's a mystery. Unless I'm just bad at using my calipers!Anyway, I believe the brief was to make it "BIGGER BOLDER BADDER" :D

      @@PerthWAtch Just saying I wouldn't want to use the timer bezel to time dive limits, as it could easily get bumped out of position. That said, I doubt many of the purchasers of this watch actually dive. More of a fashion watch in my opinion.

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  2 роки тому

      I agree that most buyers will not actually be diving. But the point is that I would be hesitant to use the timer for anything that I care about… but yes, you’d be unlikely to have higher stakes than timing your oxygen supply.

    I like the PVD version with the dark green dial. The design reminds me of the old Enicar Sherpa Super Divers and the Sherpa OPS. These Bradners could be put on the Enicar watches and they would not attract attention because the design fits so well with the Sherpa watches. It's just a pity that this watch is not a real diver's watch.

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  5 років тому

      Thanks for that Rene. I haven't heard of those Sherpa watches before... how interesting! I'm curious, what do you mean "not a real divers watch"? This watch hasn't been put through the ISO 6425 standards but design wise it does have the potential to fulfil them.

    • @rene_falk
      @rene_falk 5 років тому

      @@PerthWAtch The inner ring is bidirectional and adjusted even at low contact. This is not acceptable for a diver's watch and life-threatening. Water resistance is not everything.
      On Chrono24 you can see a few Super Divers from the late 60's and early 70's. The design language is obvious. Take a look at some of the other old Enicar Sherpas, they are quite interesting watches.

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  5 років тому

      Oh I personally agree that the bezel is too easy to turn. Just to clarify, I was in no way at all implying that water resistance is everything... not sure if you're familiar with the ISO standards at all, but it tests a whole bunch of factors and attributes.

      Perth WAtch Miyota 9015, 28,800 frequency, hand winds and hacks date only, 24 Jewels I think citizen makes a better movement than the Nh35, correct me if I’m wrong!!!

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  5 років тому

      The 9015 is better than the NH35 but very few people consider an 8 series
      Miyota to be better. In fact I've never heard anyone say that.
      As for including a 9015, we'll I guess we need to stay within realistic expectations... heck I wish they would put in an SW200! The reality is that Spinnaker have never used a 9015 before AFAIK and I suspect it will be long time before they do so...

    • @alberto6439
      @alberto6439 5 років тому

      Perth WAtch that is what I mean leaving a side the Swiss movements the Miyota 9015 is within the possibilities is a better movement without breaking the bank and with the name spinnaker has build this could have been a very well appreciated extra don’t you think !!

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  5 років тому +2

      Well ironically they have actually had a Swiss Made watch with a SW200 movement... but this could not be done without "breaking the bank" relatively speaking: MSRP is $850! So it depends what you mean by that... if they went ahead and did a watch like this with a 9015 movement I reckon it'll be at least $100 more.

    1. Bezel is too loose and easy to turn
    2. Watch strap has very widely spaced holes, wider than almost all of my other straps. I can't get it to fit my wrist comfortably, it's either too tight or too loose.
    3. The undersurface of the lugs have sharp edges. While they dont really come into contact with the skin during wearing, I feel them whenever I pick up the watch, and it just doesn't feel good, and makes the product feel cheaply made.
