Bacon grease is love, I try the ham seasoning. I love a dinner of Pinto's, collard greens and cornbread.
That's the way I cook my beans also, I never add cold water to my pot of beans I too heat water in an extra pot then gradually add to my beans. Great minds think alike 😊
FYI...a cook that I often fellow make the statement, to take out a few spoonful of beans mash them; these mashed one will form a thickening to you dish.
