Well, another story that I used to go to a lot when I was in school. They had a great selection, which surprised me, and of course the prices could not be beat. I'm sad to hear that they are closing down, but it's true that I haven't been there in a few years to shop and I guess no one else has been going either! Thanks again Eric.
I didn't know they were folding. We had one in Sacramento, and before I left in 2008 I used to by my soda from 99 in mass quantities. I didn't know the creator of the store died the year he sold the chain. Closing in 2024 means they probably knew the end was coming back in 2023, which means the place survived the founder by 10 years.
The last one I set foot was in South Sacramento the day before it was announced. They were giving away the grocery bags and I had no clue until I thumbed through the news feeds the following day.

I LOVED going here almost everyday with my mom, they had cool stuff and everything was affordable too, so sad to see it go :(

These guys are going to be coming back soon as Dollar Tree and some retaining the 99 Cents Only Store name.
