99 cents stores are a blessing
YA RIGHT 🤣
ITS CHEAPER TO SHOP WALMART AND DOLLAR TREE
99 CENT STORE CANOLA OIL $7.99
WALMART $3.98
99 CENT STORE BLEACH $1.99
DOLLAR TREE $1.25
I worked Part time for two years at the La Verne,California location in 2012.
Great Part time job. Listening to the stores 80's music because 99 Cents Stores founded in the 80's.
I'm a happy 99 ner shopper & worker always😀
Yes, I loved going there when I lived in Cali, but with recent theft rash at Dollar Stores (which can't compete with 99), these stores also got a bad rap. This chain was the first of discount stores to open and has always been the best. Just yesterday, I was wondering about this chain, and I'm so glad it may be saved, although I don't have access in Mexico. If they opened up a few outside UNESCO sites, where many expats live, it'd be a blessing. Just drive across the border; prices here are astronomical and there are very few choices.
I love that there is a fight to keep them open. Humanity needs to be first priority.
Open a business and bleed money in loses. Come back to me about humanity needs to be first priority 💀
Please save all of them...they help all of us who are in a tight budget, times are hard.
those same ppl who are on tight budgets vote democrats which are weak on crime so basically they shut it down themselves indirectly
Agreed. You never knew what bargains that were affordable to make ends meet.
Being on a fixed income, the .99 store really helped A LOT!!! So many items, bottled water, pet supplies, cleaning, produce, canned goods, frozen foods, milk, kitchen utensils just to name a few. The reg. markets charge 3-4 times for these same items. .99 we need and want you back!!!!!!
99¢ stores are needed everywhere. I hope the new owners can find a way to improve security and hold thieves accountable so they don’t continue shutting down these stores.
The politicians are the ones who should be holding thieves accountable not business owners
I'm afraid the dollar store model won't be around much longer. They just can't be competitive at the price point and they're losing their low-income customer base.
Liberal socialists wokes wishing for their liberal socialist world that they built being different.
Same mentality as a liberal socialist teen single mom after working in prostitution.
it's a community and government problem, not a business problem.. barking at the wrong tree..
No stealing please no stealing otherwise $.99 store will be long gone
Something needs to be done about poverty. Don't hate the player hate the game.
All of them need to stay open
I agree. Keep 99 cent stores open! DONT even think of closing Dollar Trees.
They’re more than welcome to close down Kohl’s and Gucci places, etc. People need affordable daily items more than they need $700 purses, that they hardly ever use lol
This guy gets it! The mistake the company made was to try to compete with stores. At 99 cents many times the deal was cuz the food was about to expire. So you could get the same item AT THE SAME PRICE at walmart/grocery store/etc. AND it was not about to expire. So why shop at the dollar store.
So when he says it's about deals, he gets it! Would be nice if he can save it and go back to the old model, before it was sold to a greedy company that jacked up all the prices!
Agreed! That’s was the problem! When people can get fresher quality for the same price…there’s no bargain and so they stop coming in! Then there’s the no price list and one would assumed it 99 cents but it rings up to way over 99 cents…people feel cheated! That’s why I stop going for years now! There was no “bargain”
Indeed. You never knew what kind of bargains you would find. It keep prices low.
Greedy investors and administrative team with poor leadership drove this company down to the ground. They made the biggest mistake. Lots of good people with very knowledge skills of the industry left the company long time ago and some of them where multi millionaire people too. This company was actually a good ideal partner for Local leaders and communities as an advantage to their developing local programs. I see the potentials in it.
Exactly sometimes it would be cheaper to get it at the grocery store actually here in Texas. They got really greedy with the food prices.
99 cent stores and dollar tree stores were a life line of survival for millions. Once these stores go out of business, watch out!!!!
Hopefully Mark Miller and his team of investors successfully buy the 99 cents chain and return it to profitability and affordability to the customers.
@@internetzone1178 Only someone like you would take a story about humanity and turn it into something political. Rethink Yourself.
Stay OPEN
@dixienormus1619 Just close earlier, and have a certain amount of people allowed in the store.. and rebuild the layout. People Should walk into a “waiting,” area until the next 10-15 can shop..
Thank GOD , what would i do without CHEAP Chinese Crap to fill our landfills
It's a GREAT STORE!! PLEASE BRING IT BACK❤❤❤❤
Rip off store. Nothing is 99cent store. Selling expired products of the same price like any other store.
Pic N save was amazing in the 80s
I used to LOVE Pick-n-Save! They had the most unexpected stuff in addition to their regular offerings. I now have hope! ❤
It’s now called Big Lots. And I still like going there to get things I need.
PLEASE PLEASE 🙏 SAVE 99CENTS STORE! Such a iconic brand Southern California 🙌 before it's too late. How many billionaire here in United States? That's right over a thousand none of them are helping SAD 😢
99 cents is an iconic SoCal institution.
@@TroyGoodwin A. That's not true B. They have 99only stores in Texas also. C. A true fan would know how to spell the name 😲
This is a great opportunity for some 5,000 of the minorities to get together & purchase those stores with the next stimulus checks the government's going to give them. They will all then have jobs working at their own stores and pay themselves $100 an hour if they want to. They can also hire Asian and white people and only pay him 20 bucks an hour. That will show them who the boss is.
I really hope they can keep it open
This store is the only way I'm able to afford food! I'm 65 disabled and very very poor and I live in California without the store I won't be able to buy enough food for the whole month. I will go without for at least 2 weeks of every month! This is heartbreaking!! This world just doesn't care about us poor folk at all!!!!
Check with your Counties Health and Human Services department to see if there are any programs available for low income senior citizens. Some counties have them. Also check your local food pantry. The food pantry in our area provides for low income senior citizens.
Try Grocery Outlet. They have a lot of items that are less expensive than the 99¢ stores. ALDI's also has lower prices on some items.
As someone else said, try looking for a Grocery Outlet near you. They have even better prices than the 99cents store.
99 cents is a blessing! I cannot believe they would ever close!! Prayers 🙏🙏♾️🙏
This store is a staple in the community we can't take that type of loss right now
God bless you good people! Please let us keep our 99. It's a part of the fabric of our history. 🙏🙏
Thank GOD , what would i do without CHEAP Chinese Crap to fill our landfills
They not doing it for the sake of keeping them open. They see a way to make money, plain and simple.
Save the stores for the people! They need the stores!!
Thank GOD , what would i do without CHEAP Chinese Crap to fill our landfills
Yes we need expired overpriced food from the 99cent store. How can we ever live.
Please stay open this is my favorite store
I love this keep it open❤
😊anything's possible. If he can get it done. It's good news and even it may cost a little more its better than paying at expensive retailers.
Yes! I’ll take paying $1.99- $2.99 for things than going somewhere else and laying 10 bucks for that same item.
Pick n save use to have great bargains. When it changed to Big Lots, that's now owned by investors, prices went up and the one by me closed.
If the New investor owners continue with this company, I hope they make EVERYTHING .99 Cents, right now most of their items costs more .99cents, they use that name but in reality it only starts at .99 cents 😔
Please keep some of them open
@dixienormus1619 I used to take things from the 99 when I was 12-13 years old not because I wanted to do but because I had no other options. I only took things that I needed like toothpaste, food. The 99 cent store is my childhood don’t get rid of them all.
I like his idea to make the stores that are like a treasure hunt each time you go in. May he find investors for this idea
99 cents store has a problem with corporate greed when hiring employees. They want faster, harder working employees, which is not possible when there’s three max in the giant stores.
Just like AT&T they would downsize and then tell us to work harder. They really had me running my tail off but I did have excellent pay and benefits.
Look… she’s paying 5$ instead of 20$ right…? The type of folks that shop here can’t understand $5 for 32 oz is the SAME as $20 for a gallon lol
This isn’t a loss, but a gain for the owner of the company.
No. I always knew what I was there for. Dry spices, toothpaste, soaps, paper towels, soda, pain relievers, doggie bags, 1 yearly wall calendar.
I remember pic n save.
Pic N Save had unique bargain items but 99 Cent Only had everyday staples that many need.
Please do I don't know what we'll do without 99 cents stores!
I’m still not over this like it’s just ridiculous 😢I literally grew up in the 99 cent store I’m 36! Literally has been a blessing to EVERYONE! Please don’t go!
Hopefully they get it and keep it open
LONG LIVE THE 99S
Save the Vegas ones too please.
It's April 12, 2024...and I sincerely HOPE that 'they' can keep a few of the 99¢ stores open! I'm on a fixed income and they have been a life- saver for me!
They need to build a security team for theft to protect profits and merchandise
Bring more food into the 99-cent-only store, please. Especially healthier options, like the stuff you get at Whole Foods and Sprouts but cheaper. I think that will boost sales tremendously.
INDEED:
That would quickly make up for the huge expense involved in buying it outright. Volume alone will suffice for a good portion of increasing those profit margins.
Pray for this man🎉 and the investors pull through and succeed 🙏
Awesome. This store has saved me so much money that if they do close, I am extremely sad. I am a disable veteran living on a fixed income.
Yes. Please keep your stores open!!!! Hire armed guards!!!!
Save 99c stores…we love them!!
Big lots is not cheap. Nowhere near the store Pic-n-Save was
Need to rename it "1.99" to keep up with inflation
Hmmm, here in Los Angeles area there's a lot of mini-discount stores that sell good things starting at $1.29USD.
I think $1.49 should be reasonable enough.
That’s a way to get a surge in business. Say we’re closing all of them and get sales and then don’t close them
One of the stores in our area some of the staff have been working there for years now those are the people I feel for. But just looking at all the shutdowns today it’s shocking to see so many businesses shutting down mostly retail & restaurants. And gas is now over $5 a gallon again the amount of evictions is skyrocketing wages can’t keep up with the cost of life it just makes you want to hide in a corner. People can only take so much you don’t work to survive you work to provide for family & be able to enjoy things other then work. No more working middle class on,y the working poor left & fading.
It's sad that all dollar stores are closing forever, but there maybe some plans to keep other stores open soon. If not, it might be the end of an era for Dollar Tree, 99 cents Only stores and others. Everything will be liquidated soon. I used to go to the dollar store so that I can buy everything for a dollar each. I'm so sad to see everything go away and let everything close for good.
soo much treasure in these bargaining stores me and the community love 99 cent store
Thank GOD , what would i do without CHEAP Chinese Crap to fill our landfills
Its amazing the things the community will come together for........and the things they dont.
We need the store opened in Las Vegas too!
Thank GOD , what would i do without CHEAP Chinese Crap to fill our landfills
Something's up here...he knows one of the main reasons they're closing...in California you can't prosecute shoplifters or try to stop them...unless he's figured out a solution to that, something doesn't seem right
Yep, he's just boasting at this point. At the very least $400 million is needed to buy the 143 SoCal stores plus another $100 million to operate in the first year which is a lowball estimate considering the stores were bought for $1.9 billion in 2011 by a private equity firm. That kind of money for brick & motor retail ventures that makes most of it's sales in bad neighborhoods isn't going to easily available from banks, venture capital firms or hedge funds. The gigantic shoplifting problems that effected most stores in all 4 states can't be brushed off, it's one of the major reasons for stores being closed. On multiple occasions when shopping at different locations over the last 3 years, I saw 10-20 thieves just walk out the door with tote bags of unpaid items and no one stopped them.
Honestly companies should just advertise small items in those .99 stores or whatever discount dollar stores for marketing. Then if theft is a problem no big deal it was just trial size items that were stolen with a profit margin ahead of shrink. Theft insurance would be a good idea to have.
Ok nothing in the 99 cents store by house cost 99 cents lol. Average item is 2.50 lol
I think that would be awesome, the only concern I have is it going to be in time for everybody to continue to keep their jobs or is it going to still close down and then we have to reapply or of course a lot of us are going to already have another job by then..
Hope they pull. it off.
discount customers don't want to be surprised with new offerings. They want the comfort of knowing they always have the items they need at low prices.
What if this was a ploy to get people to buy more and then say nevermind.
Lies, lies, the 99 store has not 99cents for a long time most items cost more than 99 cents the name needs to be changed to reflect the current prices
This doesn't sound all that good. Wasn't this the guy that destroyed the Pic N'Save and isn't Big Lots in bad shape recently? They were in near Chapter 11 bankruptcy late last year, how is this going to save the 99 Store?
Hes probably going to buy it cheap since its about to close, milk the name as much as possible & close it later saying he tried.
Big Lots has their own problems, and they have closed a lot of underperforming stores. Combining the two won't solve the problems both are facing. It is the same thing again that Kmart tried when they bought Sears, and then tried to combine the two. In the past other retailers did that too and then went out of business. Look at what happened to Ames Department stores. They bought Zayre, and Hills. Then tried combining them. Dollar Tree owns Family Dollar too, and now is closing stores.
Actually he didn’t destroy either place . It was the investors that did that .
Theft insurance then asking for a government bailout until they sell it to someone else.
Save the one in Yucaipa please!! 🙏
It would be nice if everything in the store was actually 99 Cents but it's not
Mark Milller and the 99 cent stores went Jordan belfort on us, “I’m not Fu**ing leaving!!” 😎😎
WHAT!
Big Lots is a failure
@@infamouschimken6084 it was way before 99 cents stores were around they closed years ago but they reopened last year, and they have one In Anaheim.
😢😢 please see don't leave us!
This is where the can of veg is more than target and Walmart and the $5 stock pot is $8 to $15 at Walmart.
I pray that the 99 cents store on east main street in EL Cajon California will stay open please this store is big and the workers are awesome and we really need this 99 cents store please save this store 🙏
What about adding nevada to the list?
Glad to pay $1.99 per item if it helps them stay open.
Yeah, that’s what I hoped so, too! Keep some still open, like at least one 99 Cents Store per city! 99 Cents Store is my favorite store!
One of my favorite stores to get seasonal decor, cleaning supplies and snacks! They can not go out of business 😢😢😢😢😢
Every time a favorite store closes, it turns into something worse like a clothes store, weed or nothing. I don't want that to happen again
Then stop voting for higher minimum wage, higher taxes, and the lie that legalized weed will bring all this revenue.
Investors should strike while the iron is hot with all this free publicity.
I no longer live in Los Angeles but my family does and we love these stores. I really hope they can save them
God bless 99 cent store, God 🙏 thanks for the food, thanks for everything you give me God 🙏
what about northern california stores ?
They only keep making money store locations open and no store or business want to stay in California because under $950 no consequence maybe one day those lawmakers realize they need to change the law then those business maybe are will coming back to California
Why do all this if there's nothing selling for $1 anymore.
This guy is a true American.
To keep the stores open would be a blessing to so many. Praying for a miracle 🙏🏼🥳
Start taking suggestions!😊😊
🙏🙏🙏❤🥰 Hope So!!!
Fond memories of this store me and my love go here for our movies nights and picnics and pick up fruits and veggies for a smoothies it's really sad to see it go because it was bang for your buck mostly.
And I Loved looking through the seasonal section the school supplies was great.
It's sad this store 😢 is needed here in the valley where everything is so high already . I feel the jobs that will be lost is way worse 😭
Thank God 🙏🙏❤️
Who needs Newsom. Mark Miller for California Governor! A man who cares about our poor and middle class. Mark trying to build up, what Gavin Newsom's policies are destroying
I think you might have something there. Though he has few political connections.
Gruesome newsom put more people out of work with the ridiculous lockdowns, the closing of prisons, and now he’s doing it with the $20.00 minimum wage for fast food workers.
WinCo foods Aldi alternative store cheaper produce and package cans $
Please save the 99 cent only stores in Texas too!!!! Please
Thank you Mr Miller we need these stores at this time. And boy do I love(and miss) pic 'n save. I remember they had Jaguar and 3DO systems. There should have snag it when I had the chance😅
Plenty of billionaires on the left who can donate to this cause
Hey do it
I'm so worried I won't be able to buy groceries for me and my quadriplegic mother who I care for. Any suggestions? :(
This is a staple in many neighborhoods in California. They need to hire security to discourage theft & stay in business.
I hope and pray they do and please keep the one in Chula Vista on third Ave open San Diego area it helps a lot
I’m glad this is being saved it’s a part of my old life
Is this part of OBidenomic ??
do you mean like when the 2000 payless shoe stores went out of business .under trump's watch ?
This is heartbreaking i love the 99 scents only store it has been a blessing to me and my daughter when we were homeless for many years in van nuys when we didn't have much money it was a true blessing. I have moved back home to Louisiana and got back on my feet now. Even when we went through major hurricanes here in Louisiana the 99 scent store helped out. Oh my God this is a blow. We no longer live in California but this really hits home. My only hope is that the ceo and owners will get it together and reopen our beloved store. So from Shreveport Louisiana i will say thank you 99 for all the years you gave us joy and kindness. Ps. We are also losing the dollar tree. I still have my bags i got from the 99 scent store. I prey it will reopen again it's needed more than the owners realize.
I love that miller mentions treasure hunt cause that’s honestly why I daily the 99, looking for those crazy discounted items like recently stocked up on some calypso Arnold palmers, they were only a little over a dollar a bottle how it should be not freaking $3 a bottle
99 cent stores in California are needed! 😊 ❤️ 😊
Walmart is cheaper.
@@kylep3759 no it isn’t
