      Any tips in which ballpark should i grind with the fellow ode with ssp burrs or the 1zpresso zp6?

    Loved your recipes but also enjoyed your presentation style. You definitely earned a subscribe from me.

    My first attempt gave me a much better cup from my Rwanda anaerobic natural. Really brought out that Intense raspberry! Thanks bro! I used my Ode 1 with gen 2 burrs grind setting 3 (around 450microns) and I feel like I can go coarser. I will try again tomorrow using a K6. Cheers

    Jonathan Gagnes recipe is the one I typically go for if I’m using the aeropress. I always preheat my the aeropress by setting it on top of my electric kettle as it goes to boil, and double filter to increase the resistance and help with even flow.
    You’re a bold man to start your aeropress brew directly on the scale, even with a prismo 😂

    • @coffeenerdaaron
      @coffeenerdaaron  2 роки тому +1

      Preheating is smart, I just never think of it with the Aeropress! Gagne’s recipe is definitely my go to if I’m brewing with the Aeropress.
      I trust that the Prismo won’t leak 😝

      @@coffeenerdaaron My Prismo occasionally leaks. I’ve discovered that it’s from cleaning the Prismo: the valve can become slightly dislodged. I try to remember to make sure it’s fully seated after cleaning, but occasionally I forget. So I’ve learned to ALWAYS have a mug or carafe between my Prismo’d Aeropress and my scale!

      @@coreycannon4511 funny you should mention that, I literally just had the same thing happen to me yesterday 😂

      @@coffeenerdaaron I thought it was broken. And it was fairly new. Since it cost as much as the Aeropress itself, I was (to say the least) unthrilled. Fortunately, upon examination I felt that the valve wasn’t fully seated and that was that. Problem solved.

    In the first recipe I attach the lid before I start pushing the coffee/water level towards the lip. This will help prevent a hot mess if something bad happens as you're pushing that water level up. I've made some super tasty brews with the first recipe. Right now I'm trying Gagnes recipe for the first time. I just got a shinny new DF64 and I'm messing around trying to dial some stuff in🤙🏾

      @@coffeenerdaaron Thanks man! It's nice to have some flat burrs in my life and its been treating me pretty good so far! I have a buddy 3D printing some mods for me, so I'm excited for those to be handed over. I feel the DF64 was a good choice and it's been helping me make some killer coffee!

    How does lower water temp bring out fruit notes? In espresso lower temp is for darker roasts and higher temp is for light roasts (which are more often fruity) because they're harder to extract.

    I have a Baratza Encore grinder. Can you advise the grind setting ? I am not sure what the equivalent setting would be. I enjoyed this video. It's obvious you love the coffee and so do I! I have the Aeropress control filter instead of the prismo.

    If you swirl the coffee.. doesn't that generate a vortex and with it a domed bed?

    • @coffeenerdaaron
      @coffeenerdaaron  Рік тому

      I have noticed at times if you swirl too aggressively you can get a dome, so I try to be more gentle if I do swirl.

    I'm a c heapo, is it alright to reuse your filters?

    • @coffeenerdaaron
      @coffeenerdaaron  Рік тому

      I don't personally recommend that cause coffee flavors will impregnate the filter. If you frequently brew different coffees it may corrupt the flavor of the next coffee you brew but that's just my feelings, that may not bother you.

      1 aeropress filter is 2 cents. Your bean cost from a typical spec roaster will be around $1 per brew. Even your water is gonna be around 10 cents per brew. Why are you sweating over 1 filter?

    That temp is way lower than anything I've tried to brew with. Is it not super sour?

    • @coffeenerdaaron
      @coffeenerdaaron  2 роки тому +2

      Surprisingly no, it’s probably definitely on the verge of under extraction if you brew it longer than 1:40 which is why it highlights fruity/citrusy coffees better.

      Yea it’s the Option O Lagom Mini, the one I used had the Moonshine burrs in it. I also have another one right now with the Obsidian burrs but those are better for espresso.

    Great stuff👍
    What would be the equivalent grind setting for these on an ode2?

    • @coffeenerdaaron
      @coffeenerdaaron  Рік тому

      Thanks for the question! I would say probably in the 3-5 range… but conical burr and flat burr grinders create different particle shape and distribution so you’d need to experiment with the coffee your using to find what works best for your setup and flavor preferences 😊
