    From a pragmatic point of view, having crash avoidance, adaptive cruise control, navigation via Apple/Android and air conditioning, it has all the important stuff without gimmicks like leather steering, bigger wheels, push button, wireless charging, heated stuff, paddle shifters, etc. If you don't need space, this car trim has everything you will actually use combined with a proven reliable powertrain. The biggest pragmatics sacrifices for me are automatic climate and good headlights.

    Big Kudos for making a review of base trim car and even more important the one with manual transmission - as almost no other car reviewer does that anymore unfortunately. #savethemanuals

      I Have To Agree with you on that a lot of young people are looking for a car but they want a new car not a used one and this is a perfect review for that type of buyer.

    Manuel hand brake is a Huge plus if you like doing repairs yourself. if you go with a higher end model you get a electric ebrake and either need a software or go through a bunch of bs steps to replace rear brakes

    I bought a new LE three weeks ago in that same color. Good ride comfort and gas mileage, but a couple "irks" are the fuel filler tube can flex down when you are refilling and the CVT can bump slightly when slowing down and accelerating in stop and go traffic.

    I'm close to retirement. My L meets all my requirements I actually think better than I was anticipating.
    My only issue with gen 12 is the low front scoop. It scrapes on the parking deck going down ramps. I've never had this before.

    Props for Toyota still offering a manual on the Corolla. Honda does not even offer it on the regular 2022 Civic.

    • @Modern.Motoring
      @Modern.Motoring  3 роки тому +5

      Absolutely. Corolla’s have a strong reputation for longevity and reliability. It’s easy to park, easy to drive, comes in hatchback or sedan and their standard safety is impressive.
      Let me know what you decide to get as your first car, Paula.

    There is no temperature displayed because it's a manual climate control. To see temperature(s) there you need to get a higher trim with automatic climate control where you set the desired cabin temperature and the car will regulate the warmth and volume of the air entering to achieve it.

    Such a comprehensive overview, this video really helped me not to waste my money on a base model as it really sucks.
    If you compare its seats quality with a 1991 Japanese domestic market Corolla, the old one is much better and fancier.
    I was going to buy this L model but now I see that the one I was going to buy does not even have a remote key fob, it has just two simple keys and that's it.
    I really hate to open the doors by penetrating the key into the door lock. how do the heel Toyota engineers think over it in 2021?! We are in the 21st century and still, Toyota spares a remote key fob to its 2021 model!? To be honest, such base models are only in America and Canada but the Japanese will never use such low-quality seats and more importantly sell out a 2021 Corolla without even considering a remote key fob for it.
    I've been using Japanese domestic right-hand-drive cars for the last 15 years. I can definitely claim that a 2010 Corolla made for Japan's domestic market is equal to a 2022 Corolla which is being produced in America and Canada from options and fancy stuff perspectives.

I don't like the hybrid cars".what would recommend for a new 2022 car ???.thanks again. good video.👍take care, stay safe,.

      I can’t give any driving impressions on the Cross yet as it’s not on the Canadian media fleet yet. The Corolla L is one of the best no-frills options on the modern market though.
