"Is it a boy or a girl?"
"I think it's a bit early to start imposing roles on it, don't you?"
A lot of people don't like this movie. I'm not one of them.
Fun Fact: Nikki Diamond is one of the topless running girls.
What Script Fact: Sir Michael Palin's "Hey, but I didn't eat the mousse!" line was not in the script.
Music Enthusiast Fact: Terry Jones spent most of the budget on the "Every Sperm Is Sacred (1983) sequence. The rest of the team found out later. The kids who sang in the sketch later said they had no idea what they were singing about.
The Prologue Fact: "The Crimson Permanent Assurance" segment was filmed as if it were a completely separate project. Terry Gilliam got his own soundstage, crew, and cast. This segment continued to expand because, according to Gilliam, nobody told him to stop. This is honestly my favorite segment of the movie and I love that it does connect to the rest of the movie later on.

Another fact about the sperm song scene. Palin actually said "sock" instead of "cock" so as not to offend the parents of the children in the scene, and then dubbed in the word "cock" afterward.

I really enjoyed this reaction. You really brought a lot of creativity and intelligence to your video.
This movie was released in 1983. I'd like to call your attention to a "completely different" film that was released in 1985, called "Brazil." A reaction to Brazil has never come up on my UA-cam recommendations.
Brazil was written and directed by Terry Gilliam, who was the only American-born member of the Monty Python cast. Gilliam did all the animations for Monty Python, and he wrote and directed the opening sequence for this film. Brazil has a lot of the surrealism that Gilliam brought to his earlier work, but it is much more serious. Technically, it's still a comedy ... romance ... political commentary... but the surrealism sort of breaks the categories so much that you could call it an experimental film as well.
Despite a modest budget, Brazil lost money at the box office, but I personally loved it. To this day, it's one of my favorite underrated movies, and I enjoy it more every time I re-watch it. I've talked to several people who absolutely hated it, though.
Brazil stars Jonathan Pryce, who has an IMDB page a mile long, although I'm not sure if I can name a role you will recognize. He played Governor Swann in the Pirates of the Carribean series, High Sparrow in HBO's Game of Thrones, Prince Phillip in Netflix's The Crown, and many other roles. Kim Greist, the female lead, has also had a long career, but with only a few major roles, Throw Momma from the Train being her biggest film. Robert DeNiro also has an important supporting role, which was a surprise since he was such a huge star at the time, like he is today.

Back in the 1980s this was the funniest movie ever for me, and I watched it over and over again. It gets a lot of different reactions from different people, some people absolutely hating it, so I'm glad you liked it. My favorite scene was Mr. Creosote, but I can understand why you found it difficult to watch. I think you will come to enjoy it more on repeated watchings. The scene in the middle with the business meeting was wear they really started to discuss the meaning of life, with the caveat that we are often distracted by other things. They were first distracted by the statement that people need to wear more hats, but then came back to the meaning of life, but then they were distracted again by the attacking building. Ah, yes... war and conflict often distract us from more loftier thoughts. I enjoyed your discussion afterwards very much. You went into it more than other reviewers have.

If you are a Michael Palin fangirl, he did a number of travel seasons for the BBC which were pretty good. Was years after the Python scene. "Around the World in 80 Days" and "Pole to Pole" were quite interesting as I remember. Not seen them in decades : ) Not sure they are reaction worthy, but you'll probably like 'em with hours of Palin stuff.

This was the Pythons showing that they had got to the point where they could do whatever they liked and get away with it. After the success of "Brian" despite so many attempts to get it banned they could put in any disgusting and contraversial ideas that they could come up with. Their process was, "if it's funny, put it in."

The viewer suffers physical pain at the sight of a fat restaurant guest's binge, and the organ harvesting in the home of a still-living donor demands stamina.

I loved this reaction from the subtitles to the announcement of a review of Life of Brian.
And to give something back, I have to recommend a few movies, that often fly under the radar for the admirers of Monty Python.
    1. "Clockwise" (1986). "It's not the despair, Laura! I can stand the despair! It's the hope!" - you miss out something, if you haven't seen the chaos climax of this epic road movie with John Cleese as a headmaster of an English public school. So good. Unfortunately often flying under the radar, as far as recommendations go.
    2. "Yellowbeard" with John Cleese, Eric Idle and Graham Chapman (as well as guest appearances of other widely known comedy heroes, like Cheech&Chong). First, it is a pirate movie. And pirate movies are good. Second, it does entertain and is very funny. All stereotypes in pirate movies included. I am sure you like it very much. Great movie, also often flying under the radar.
    3. "Brazil". Terry Gilliam is a genius. He made many respected movies after his work in the Monty Python group. But this movie is probably THE saddest dark dystopian comedy you might ever watch. Seriously - it is funny, but also VERY dystopian. Like "1984" if it was written by the Monty Pythons. Enough said. Watch, please!
Have a great weekend. And don't get sacked. You know why... the Llamas are jealous of the moose story. And camels??? I mean: WTF!
    Best regarrds. 🙂

The other you've not seen is Live At The Hollywood Bowl - basically a live stage show of them performing some of their most famous skits.
Of the three you've seen now, I've caught them all on opening night in the theatre and have different views on each. The Holy Grail is the funniest. Life Of Brian is the most cohesive story. Meaning Of Life is the best in the way of film technique and the highest budget. Unfortunately, Meaning Of Life is also the weirdest and didn't do all that well at the box office.

Awesome! Everyone does The Holy Grail and Life Of Brian (which I always watch, because they're both brilliant) but I don't know if I've seen anyone react to this Classic. 👍
Cheers and Happy Weekend from Canada. 🥃☮❤
    And of course..."Morniiing". 😁🐟

I snuck into the theater with a buddy to see this when it was new because we weren't yet seventeen. We laughed so hard during the Creosote scene we nearly puked as well. The Crimson Permanent Assurance echoes Time Bandits, the film directed by Terry Gilliam prior to The Meaning of Life. Time Bandits has been adapted to a television series that is currently showing. I haven't watched that, but the film from back when is a lot of fun, starring John Cleese, Sean Connery, Shelley Duvall.

You noticed that the disjointed structure of this film is kind of like their "Flying Circus" TV program. That's what I always tell people when they're considering watching this film.

Yellow Beard is a pirate movie that predates Pirates of the Caribbean. Some of the Monty Phythons' cast, Cheech and Chong plus Marty Feldman in his last movie appearance.

My father took me to the Circus when I was eight years old and a clown killed him. (Nice subtitles. You should get an "Official Pythoner" badge for doing those.)

Fun Fact: Terry Gilliam worked on the Crimson Permanent Assurance without the other Pythons knowing. Terry Jones stumbled onto the set one day, and was amazed at how Gilliam's set was the largest. It was then Gilliam told Jones about his idea of having the short film try to take over the movie.
Two of their TV show sketches I recommend are Cheese Shop, and Spam.

No one expects the Spanish Inquisition ... and little can prepare one for that projectile vomiting scene. I love the effort you put into the pitch-perfect intro and the reaction/review overall was excellent. It's good you watched this after their other films, because you came somewhat prepared. It's such a shame they didn't make another film after this one.

A quick way to see many of the best sketches from the TV series is to watch the movie "And Now For Something Completely Different" which is a collection of sketches redone for the big screen.
