Brilliant in so many ways. It's hilarious that many who protested it missed the point of the movie: It was about people who miss the point.

Judith was played by Sue Jones-Davies a Welsh actress who became mayor of Aberystwyth. The town had prohibited all showings of the movie for 30 years due to her nude scene. In 2009 she managed to get he film shown publicly in a screening attended by Michael Palin and Terry Jones.

I'm from the city of Glasgow, Scotland. When it came out in the theatres. Glasgow was one of the many places to ban it due to what they viewed as blasphemy. Myself and a group of pals walked all the way to a neighbouring town outside the Glasgow boundaries that DIDN'T ban it, and watched it there. As for the spaceship scene, that was for the benefit of the animator, Terry Gilliam because he didn't have any animations to do for the actual movie itself, so they gave him this scene to do.

      That's not true.
Firstly they were not extras, they were professional respected actors and together played 12 different roles in the film.
One of them Bernard McKenna played 4 different roles and was part of the writing team.
He's the guy behind Brian on the left.
Scene 13 was not done in one take, you can clearly see there are different camera angles called reaction shots, everyone in the scene knew what they were doing and them laughing at the right time was important for the story, it's how Brian gets away.

When I'm feeling down in the dumps, all I have to do is put this movie on and my troubles go away. I first saw this movie when it first came out, I think I was 16, and I left with my face hurting and my gut feeling as if I had done a hundred sit-ups. This movie is a marvelous example of how religions get started. 😂🤣The "miracle" of the blind man, who can see, then falling into the hole in the ground still makes me laugh. And both of the Romans having speech impediments is mad hilarious!
I used to work in a hospital as a PCT. And one day I had to clean up my first dead patient--alone. I really was okay with it, but you still feel a bit nervous with your first one. And I have seen first time techs, do some strange things to get by. And I was no exception, as I was cleaning him up, I realized that I was quietly singing & whistling the end song from this movie. And I also realized I was singing it to my very dead patient.
"So always look on the bright side of Death.
Just before you draw your Terminal Breath.
    Life's a piece of shit
    When you look at it.
    Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true.
    You'll see it's all a show,
Keep 'em laughin' as you go.
Just remember that the LAST Laugh is on you."
Oh man, I was so lucky his family didn't show up at my musical performance for their family member. But the real strange thing that occurred, while I was singing and whistling, was I thought for sure I saw a smile come onto his face; and both of his feet were moving back and forth to the song. Who says the Dead or Jehovah (wait for the whistle!) don't have a sense of humor? Whoever believes that I only have to say, "Silly Person".

If you watch the DVD with the commentary tracks from the Python guys, they fill in the blanks about some of the goofy stuff like the space ship, Pontius Pilot's speech impediment, and many other things. Regarding the nudity, I can tell you when this was first released in the theaters in August 1979, NO ONE expected it!! But there was no protesting it. Examples include "The Cheese Shop," "Crunchy Frog," "The Argument Clinic," "The Lumberjack Song," "Spam," "The Dead Parrot," "The Ministry of Silly Walks," and my very favorite, "The Fish Slapping Dance." As I said before: don't watch clips of the show, watch the episodes of the show. Watching the sketches by themselves doesn't give you anything, plus dummies upload the wrong versions of the sketches, half the time they're not the classic sketches from the TV series, but the lame recreations they did for their first movie, where you don't have the live audience which throws off the timing. (Python is embarrassed by that movie, why anyone would use clips from that is beyond me). Watch the TV episodes in full, don't listen to people who tell you to watch just the clips, that's not going to give you anything.

When I see people reacting to this movie I always wait for the spaceship scene. The looks of total confusion are hilarious. The spaceship scene does several things at once. First, this came out shortly after Star Wars, so aliens were on people’s minds, and a spoof on that was certainly called for. Also, it gave them a chance to send up “Deus Ex Machina” cavalry to the rescue type scenes. And finally as noted by one of the other commenters, it does allow Brian to get back down to the bottom of the tower without being captured. An excellent choice of movie!

1.) I am so sad to hear about your son, and I would have understood if you didn't do any video at all. I hope he's doing better today. 2.) It worked out for me that you didn't do "Predator" because I never watch reactions for that movie.....but watch EVERY "Life Of Brian" reaction! I hope your cheeks stopped hurting from laughing! This has to be one of my favorite Life Of Brian reaction videos because you already knew Python! I believe you are the ONLY reactor who has actually seen a little bit of the TV series before they watched one of the movies! You basically knew what you were in for, and that makes all the difference. 3.) MOST IMPORTANTLYY: I've seen this movie a million times, I never ever caught the line: "As empires go, this is the big one!" THANK YOU! That's why I love reaction videos! You singled that line out, and now I'll never forget it! :D 4.) Only one reactor has ever done the TV series (Dawn Marie) and it really built up her channel. Since each episode is only a half hour, there aren't that many of them, and it looks like you could use a steady of infusion of comedy, I thought I'd throw that out there. The series has so many classic bits and sketches and they are MUCH better watched in context of an episode rather than just clips from them. THANKS!!!!!

Such a funny film, glad you like it - the Python humour is not everyone's cup of tea, even if you come from the UK. If you liked this then you should try "Not The Messiah" which is a musical written by Eric Idle based on the story of Life of Brian. It has proper professional singers in it (and Eric Idle gives it a good go too) and some of the other Pythons make a cameo appearance.

It is also hilarious looking at the reactions from the religious groups back when this movie came out. They thought it was making fun of Jesus but when you look at the Sermon on the Mount the lines are fine but they simply make fun of the fact that people far away couldn't really hear. Then the ex-leper again, in this movie Jesus is seen performing a miracle even if the recipient didn't see it that way. Well, maybe the message the religious people hated the most in the movie was that we're all individuals and don't need to follow anybody. They certainly have an issue with that one.

This wouldn't be for a reaction channel (or at least not one that does movies), but since you're a fan of British humor, I highly recommend the show "Taskmaster". It's a competition show like no other, with five comedians and/or TV presenters doing odd and often ludicrous tasks to please the Taskmaster (comedian Greg Davies), trying to earn enough points to at the end of the season win a gold-painted hollow bust of Greg's head.
For your channel, though, if you haven't seen it, Monty Python alum Terry Gilliam's movie "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen" is amazing.
