Thank you for the lesson! I never add cabbage roll to Oden before but it looks very good. I will try it next time I make Oden🙂. I enjoy your lessons very much. Thank you!
Ooo I'm so happy you gave us your recipe for cabbage rolls! I've tried to make them before but I could never figure out how to get the cabbage leaves off without ripping them terribly, so I am so grateful for your tips!! I usually steam my cabbage rolls and dip them in a spicy sauce, but these look delicious and I will definitely try it 😆 And your plates that you use are always so pretty and unique :D I love your videos, Ryusei-san! Thank you for all of your efforts and sharing your recipes with us 😄
Thank you for watching and your comment as always! I’m very happy my video is helpful for you:) l hope you’ll enjoy my recipe too. Yes, it’s my favorite and craftsman made it one by one. You’re welcome! Your comments always motivate me!! Have a nice day😁
I'd made stuffed cabbage rolls before but never as beautiful as yours😍! Yours is stunning and that final touch with yuzu is a must try. Thank you for sharing🙏🏻
Very similar to how my german Oma taught me, she added rice to the meat mix to absorb the flavours and stretch the meat. When frying the onions I add some water after the oil and before the salt and place a lid so the onions steam/poach first and then fry, rather old school but it produces the results I like.
This looks delicious! I love cabbage rolls, we ate them often when I was a child because my mother's family is Polish. We actually have all of the ingredients right now, except for yuzu ,however I think I can use fresh lemon peel. It's not the same I know 🙂. I grow citrus as a hobby and next spring I want to add a yuzu tree to my collection - so someday we *will* have our own yuzu. Yuzu is still hard to find in the US outside of major cities like New York or Los Angeles.
Thank you very much! That’s amazing story, and I’ve learned Gołąbki now! Yes, you can use lemon peel too😁. Although it’s different from yuzu, it’s definitely delicious!! I hope you’ll find yuzu tree.
Absolute genius 💡👑 I’ve been „experimenting“ with cabbage rolls a lot recently and found out that flavour-wise, savoy cabbage or arrowhead work best for me. The traditional sauce for cabbage rolls in my part of 🇩🇪 is quite heavy and not very pretty: it’s a thick gravy with lots of onions and diced bacon. I prefer a light tomato sauce and will definitely try yuzu❣️
That's nice! I've never seen both cabbages. Because, this cabbage is almost in Japan. Is it? I'd like to try German style too. Tomato sauce is also wonderful😁 Yes, please try Yuzu! Thank you!!
This looks fantastic! I’ve always made cabbage rolls with a tomato based sauce, and this looks like a refreshing and tasty change. I’m going to try it this week!
Thank you very much! Tomato based sauce is also nice, and it’s more common than my recipe in Japan too. But, it’s also tasty. I hope you’ll enjoy it! Thank you for watching and your comment😁
I will be making this this weekend, Cabbage rolls with a Japanese twist, yummy!! You sure have some fascinating kitchen gadgets,I wish I could buy them here! The dashi stocks make very tasty soup with the cabbage!
Please make it. I hope you'll enjoy cabbage rolls! Yes, I bought some kitchen gadgets and in fact I bought a new wooden cutting board!! Thank you for watching and your comment as always😊
I love cabbage rolls, I often make some during winter ! I don't usually add dashi, just a little bit of water and cover with a lid. This way the juices from the cabbage and the meat make a very tasty broth 😊 I will try adding shitake next, it's a very good idea and must be delicious! Great video as always
Well, as promised, I made this yesterday and it was delicious! I especially liked the broth, it was so different than the tomato sauce I’m used to. Thank you for this new recipe to add to my collection, I really enjoy your channel.
Cabbage rolls are a part of my culture…with tomato sauce. However, these looked so good that I must try in the future. I think it is a great idea not to put rice in them (as we do) but instead have rice on the side. Also a good suggestion about using the tip of the knife to remove the stem of the mushroom.
It's your country's culture! I guess you put some herbs to it🤔. Yes, please try japanese version too. I'm very glad my video was helpful for you. Thank you for watching.
Great video, as usual. Yuzu is hard to find outside of Asia. Will try the lemon. For the second soy sauce you use, can Chinese dark soy sauce be substituted?
Amazing as always, Ryusei-San! Stuffed cabbage rolls are amazing. In poland they are called "Gołąbki" and in germany "Krautwickel". I am very curious how the japanese version tastes. Now i can try and make them myself!
I have a lovely cabbage to use up.. perfect timing! What a clever lid, though. Does it have a name? Holds things secure but still allows for simmering off liquid.
I’m very glad my video is good timing for you! Sorry, it’s Japanese💦 I hope you’ll find it. Thank you for watching😁 www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B0039XRJF4/ref=sspa_mw_detail_0?ie=UTF8&psc=1&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9kZXRhaWwp13NParams
@kyodokan.japanese.cuisine I shall certainly be making these. I find eating a more Japanese diet helps my indegestion and IBS. And it makes for interesting dinner options for impressing guests.
Yes, I guess firm tofu works. But, I’ve never tried💦 Probably, tofu works well with grated yam which acts as a glue. I hope you’ll enjoy it:). Thank you!
Thank you for the lesson! I never add cabbage roll to Oden before but it looks very good. I will try it next time I make Oden🙂. I enjoy your lessons very much. Thank you!

Hello Ryusei-san, thanks cabbage is so healthy. Eat cabbage everyday and you will never die.
Hello! You're welcome. Yes, I agree. Thank you for watching and your comment!
I love that this feels like the modern Japanese version of Mrs Crocombe from English Heritage!
I've never known English Heritage. Thank you for teaching me and watching my video!!
Yes! 😂😂😂.
Great video, as usual. Yuzu is hard to find outside of Asia. Will try the lemon. For the second soy sauce you use, can Chinese dark soy sauce be substituted?
Thank you! Yes, if you have a Japanese soy sauce, you can use it instead of all soy sauce what I used:) Thank you for watching! Have a nice day😁
So good ❤❤❤ yummy
Thank you for watching and your comment!! Have a nice day😁

This looks more subtle and sophisticated than Greek dolmades with cabbage,
which are excellent in their own way...
Thank you for teaching me! I've never heard Greek dolmades with cabbage. I'd like to try it in the future:)
There was me worried that you would discard those stems, but you added them in😁
Great stuff. Not cooked these in awhile. But feeling hungry now😊
Yes, I used the stems! Thank you for watching and your comment. I hope you’ll enjoy good lunch or dinner 😁
@kyodokan.japanese.cuisine I shall certainly be making these. I find eating a more Japanese diet helps my indegestion and IBS.
And it makes for interesting dinner options for impressing guests.
What vegetable filling can i use instead of meat, which I don't eat. Maybe I can use mushrooms and carrots? Does firm tofu work?
Yes, I guess firm tofu works. But, I’ve never tried💦 Probably, tofu works well with grated yam which acts as a glue. I hope you’ll enjoy it:). Thank you!
Oh, that is similar to Polish gołąbki, though gołąbki have rice in
Thank you for teaching me! I've never heard gołąbk, it look delicious😋
Your voice so carming.
I'm very happy about your comment. Thank you very much! Have a nice day:)
