Thanks for this video Richard. Really touched by what you have said. I am glad that I have the attitude of wanting to get on with stuff and also bringing people together. I remember last year I organised a family get together in which some of the close family were um'ing and ah'ing about attending. After much persuasion we had a complete family meal together with all cousins, grandparents, uncle and aunties etc. Unfortunately be grandfather passed away not so long after the meet up but I was so proud to have no regrets regarding his death. Life really is too short and too hectic to not enjoy it. After my degree I plan to travel to NZ for silage and then Canada for a big seeding and harvest operation....just because I want to....and theres no reason in the world why I shouldn't! I like forward to the rest of your videos this year. Thanks. Hywel.
A very tender, heartfelt and inspirational video Richard. Please don't feel any pressure to upload videos, we can all wait for as long you need. Sending my love to you and all your family. Jonny
Your honesty is to be applauded Richard!! Glad to see you coping with the devastating loss of your father and your so rite, family is so important! I wish you and your family well and look forward to viewing more of your videos :)
Sorry about your loss. You're right about other farming videos just shows the going ons around the farm but not really about the life of a farmer. Thank you for sharing your life with us. We appreciate it.
Very touching and honest, I’m a dairy farmer and my dad retired 17 years ago, he’s 85 now and still plays a part on the farm, I have my own home now and young family, but I still have breakfast and lunch in my old home with my parents everyday as the kids r at school and my wife’s at work. I dread the day when there not there anymore so I feel ur pain, but most dads want to see there kids happy and the farm in good hands which it clearly is so he happily knew his job was completed. RIP to him and my condolences to you all.
richard, you are such a nice and down to earth man, i have just found your chanle and have been watching glur videos, they are so good, i cant wait fo see more mate 🚜🚜🚜👌👌👌👍👍👍🐑🐑🐑🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄
As some else has said he was lucky to have lived well into his 80's and would of loved the fact that you and your brother carried on running the family farm.
Richard, 4 years on now. You see now, you do talk with Dad every day. Everywhere you look, he touched the farm. Now you know what to do farming. Dad tought you well. Your turn to pass lessons on to Jack and Harry. Hang in there, bereavement never goes away sorry to say. Focus on happy times you had with your Dad. You say hello to him everyday. I give you a green 💚 for the green pastures where Dad walks. CD in New HampShire🇺🇲👍
Dear Funky. It's good to see you back despite the difficult time you are going through. We found your message inspirational. Keep up the good work, farming, loving your family and videoing your life, we always look forward to your films. All the best from us - Andrew and Fiona from Aberdeenshire
No head chopping this round, Richard. (made me laugh at your comment). Great to see you, my friend. You're spot on as usual, with all your funkiness and whatnot. I'm glad to see you coming around after all the changes and stuff now that your father is no longer with us. You'll find a way eventually and I wish u the best as it all sorts out. Thanks so much for sharing your personal life and take on this as it impacts the farm. You're very right, we don't get to see and share this on many other farming type channels.
Richard. nice to see you back again. really nice video just to get back in to it and nice to hear you talk so fondly of your dad. never an easy time. soldier on. keep the videos coming when you can. all the best
i never experienced this pain but i'll cross that bridge when i have to. but fare play to you for posting the video i'm sure he has left the farm in very good hands. i lost uncle that i never seen for years last year but i was to lazy to get off my arse to visit him he was a farmer and loved his job now i regret it to my heart because its my own fault i said goodbye while he was in his coffin and shouldnt had to because he was 58 and died of a heart attack due a fishing accident. we don't have very long on this earth and life is too short make the most of it.
Richard, it good your talking for he meant a lot you and it nice also to have person to talk with it will get better hang in there and of course it hard to replace someone who was help on the farm but you figure it out just keep moving.
Good luck, Stay strong. and do what feels best, there no need to post videos if you don't feel like it, I love my insite in to your life and the running of your farm, far better then country file look forward to seeing the video tomorrow.
I respect you so much, you are gling through tough times but still record. You had me choked up in some parts as well keep your chin up and hope for the best! You are inspirational
Hi Rich Thanks for the update,I'd been wondering how you guys were getting on. us farmers are pretty tough and takes a lot more than the average guy to make us hand our notice in and quit, Glad you are going to carry on after whats happened. The small things he did are whats missed as well as a parent, this place don't run so smooth when my parents are on holiday and you need an extra hand and like happened there that one day is coming and nobody knows when. Fingers crossed for the next TB test being good, that was something else I had been thinking about. I tried some of those jelly beans over here in Canada some are just plain wrong in the flavor department, and I think a guy could win a distance spitting competition with some of them L.O.L. See you in the next video. Regards Robert
Richard, I lost my father back in 1978 and I still miss him a lot. Do you have any video footage of him doing everyday things? Maybe you could do a tribute video of him which would be great to share and look back on the years to come.
thefunkyfarmer Richard, I am not saying you have to make it public. You can always make it Private that way it is only available to those who you choose to share it with.
Glad to see you back sorry for lose your videos are great insight to real farming life your right country file is too many hobby farmers or adam with 10000 ach plus farm
Yes you got to carry on, you are missing him I know but it takes time, I know how you feel I lost both my brothers in less than 6 months apart one was expected the other was like your Dad sudden, like you say that's part of life still it don't make it easy to deal with. GOD BLESS
Richard hi I now how your feeling about your dad but that can't stop u from working on the farmer and video for UA-cam and us but now you and your brother have a big job to keep up with and paperwork plz plz keep up the work and the farmer also plz can't you do some silage video and muck speaking plz keep the farmer running and do let yourself down and not keeping the farmer running by thinking about your das
Milk price is still falling over here. Same as it was 40 years ago and the govt demands high quality milk but won't pay for it.... The dairy i'm working at now is in crisis. He (63) had double kidney/pancreas transplant this past winter & we're not sure how long he's going to be around. I handle the whole dairy end of the farm no fieldwork and have'nt had a day off since last november. Funny how all those decades i farmed everyday with my dad, then the cows went to sales barn and i thought i could finally have a life for myself.
I'm so sorry for you I'm so so sorry but it happens I am sorry I lost my grandparents and my uncle but parents are the worst but keep up the good work I'm so sorry
Thanks for all your messages
Hope everything is ok Richard
80+ years is a good life to be celebrated, more than mourned. Carry on, raise your boys, and have some laughs.
