  • Euro 2024 is upon us and as the European Football Championships kick into gear, it makes us here at the SEGAGuys nostalgic for older tournaments and older games.
As such, what better time to look back on Sega Worldwide Soccer 2000 Euro Edition, the Dreamcast sequel to the classic Saturn games. With the first SWWS 2000 game on Dreamcast ending with disappointment, could Euro Edition restore the series to its former glory?

I remember buying this when it was dirt cheap when I was younger for my brothers DC - just saw worldwide soccer and thought it was the sequel made by the same dev on 97 and 98 - how wrong I was 😭

Yet another series that went downhill when development shifted from Japan to the West. Worldwide Soccer is fantastic on the Saturn, specially 97 and 98 (including the updated Japan only French World Cup), on the Dreamcast, this game shouldn't at all use the Worldwide Soccer title, it's a complete different game.

Virtua Striker 2 is by far the best SEGA football arcade game. Even to this day, it is way more fun than anything else. Like every AM2 game, it has that Japanese arcade feeling. I don't know how to explain it.

I got a sickly feeling thinking back to England VS Romania at Euro 2000 😂
Spent hours on this and was fantastic playing against friends despite a few flaws in the game.
    Great videos.

All the footy games on Dreamcast were crap, the best probably being UEFA Dream Soccer. One of the nails in the Dreamcast coffin was not having a FIFA or ISS/Pro Evo

Good stuff Dan. Still not a game I'd buy but that's because I have no interest in football at all 😂 Music seems pretty cool though

Totally agree on the game analysis but I had many hours of fun playing this when it came out. Keep up the great content.

No classic sadly. Looove SWWS 97 and 98. Don't know why they switched devs for the Dreamcast.

I think the relationship with Silicon Dreams created via the WLS98 port was the catalyst, seems very much a Sega Europe push, SoJ were keen to move to Virtua Striker - Dan

@@SEGAGuys I learned about the Road to Win game. I bought that, as it is cheap anyway. Thanks.

Great games. I preferred SWWS 97 and 98, as well as the ISS Pro games, but the N64 ISS games were incredible too, truly spoilt on all platforms - Dan
